If you fall into the category of those nationalities that gets visa upon arrival, then do a visa run. or pay 600dhs to get them done in dubai.

keep in mind that the tent is quite small so irrespective of where you sit you will still be able to see the show (unless you have a super huge person in front of you!) or you sit on the front row of the 100dhs seats and those so called VIPS who come late and decide to stand and block your view.. it's ok for an adult...not for a toddler. :(

we went for it over the weekend and wasn't too wildly impressed... the acts with people are good (acrobats, gymnasts, clowns, etc.) but the ones with the animals are like an anti-climax!! the lions looked so bored and i just felt the whole animal segment was dragged around... didn't help that the trainer was walking around on a prosthetic limb. plus to add to my misery it was so darn hot inside the tent... :( not worth the 100 (x 4 tickets) we paid for it!! they should have priced it more competitively at 50dhs! agreed. very hot. the mc was horrible too. lol but my 3 year old enjoyed it as it was her first and that's all that matters. don't bother buying the vip unless you come early and get the front row seats. watever tickets you get, come 45mins before it opens..as it's a first come first serve seating.

Hmmmm, no don't accept. You could just leave it pending over the Summer then gently explain that you don't feel it's appropriate.....if that's how you feel? Staff at schools in UK are asked not to FB parents or children as part of safeguarding etc. what you need to weigh up s: Are you friends with this TA? Do you want them having access to you and your families life? Would you send a request to them? Just some thoughts..... That's how i feel. I don't want to be friends with her. But will not accepting make DD's life in school horrible? And no I am not friends with her. Do you think I should tell the principle?

hhmm... my dd was only upset on the 1st day at the door. It all depends on the child, the school ( as in how they interact with her) and how you make a big deal about school, as in how exciting it is etc etc. do you just drop her and walk away or pre-am her that she will be in school with her friends and you will be here to pick her up when school is over? Also, do make a big deal after school. :)

I really believe most of us here grew up being spanked when we were kids. We survived and guess what? we are still alive. no mental damage here.. (clinically I don't think so) What is this world coming to? Can't even spank our kids now? Is that the reason why youngsters nowadays are more rude and less afraid of parents? Oh wait..it is a Thursday ;)

To answer your question, I think it's too early to judge. You do what you think is best as a parent to you LO. Who's to say, my method is better than yours. IMHO, I don't think it's too early to 'talk and explain' to your child. I did. Tho they may not be able to reply back, I think they do understand. I use that method on my DD. And I only recently started on the naughty step, she will only turn 3 in september. heh. Patience is the key, I think. Having said that, I am not an expert with hyper active kids. Maybe you can ask the experts, which truthfully I think is not here. (reading some of the replies) Good luck. And remember, mother knows best x S

Hi Sasha, I remember when DD was really fussy with food. She still is and will only eat certain things. I take it that DD can take solids? What I was suggested was leave food everywhere in the house for her in her bowl. Say, 2 baby carrots in her bowl by the coffee table. 2 biscuits in another bowl on the chair. 2 cut up grapes at another spot. Maybe she will nibble at them. Try making home made milk shakes for her. Strawberry, ice cream and milk. And bring one cup out for her and another for you. Make a big deal about it. If she has even sip, make a big deal about it. I also notice that with my DD, she'll eat better with kids around. When other kids eat, she tends to follow suit. So, if she's at home alone with me, I have to be the one eating with her, sitting next to her and keep on saying oohh yumm!!! Oh, also, I noticed that if I involve DD in the cooking process, she wants to eat them as well. Like, choosing the fish, helping pretend cut the veges etc etc.. :)

BTW it's cheaper to do it on the premium service in the UK which is 4 hours............you just book it on the phone and next time you go to uk just go there... *note* for premium service appointments you can't use the forms that you print online, you need a proper paper form from post office. get a bunch next time you are there in advance. what do you mean you just book it on the phone? Sorry to sound daft. And also what do you mean by "the premium service in the UK which is 4 hours" TIA x

An alternative reason (rather than you spoiling your child) is that your baby had reflux issues and/or a sensitive gag reflex that led to issues with texures, or possibly has tongue tie which can lead to issues moving food around the mouth. Also I think this is normal to a degree, my son (nearly 3) has always been a good eater and was on finger foods from pretty early on, but he has a tendancy to stuff too much food in his mouth and then gag at times, I've seen other toddlers do the same, he is growing out of it. It is super important that they have chewy food though, otherwise the jaw doesn't develop propperly and you end up with crowded, crooked teeth and other issues. Just keep giving food in various forms and she will get there. Thank you. I've changed as soon as I realised it and 'cross fingers' she's doing well. :)

I know there have been a number of posts with directions but we went today and got totally lost! We were in the right area and kept asking people but were going around in circles. Could someone please post directions with street names as I've had a good look on here and can't find any specifics, mostly "walk 2 blocks, cross the r/a" etc. some names of shops would be very handy too please. Thank you. are you heading towards the refurbished naif souq? are you driving?

I can say only about the imh.my gynae was dr Andrea and she used to operate there and city both.i opted for imh as it was very close to my home just 500 mts away.secondly I found city to be too crowded at that time.the staff was very busy probably I reached there a a wrong time but found all the staff to be so busy that they couldn't satisfy my queries.but I have always read good views about city here. I felt very much relaxed at imh.their labour room is a bit small but the after care was amazing and all the nursing staff was good. 2nd vote for IMH and Dr Andrea. Love the suites that we get. Went to a friend who gave birth at American and I can personally say there's more privacy in IMH's suites if you think you will have a lot of guests.

I now realise why my nearly 3 yo toddler is a fussy eater. She is pretty lazy in chewing food. She like food that 'melts' in her mouth or requires minimum chewing. If we were to have noodles, she won't chew a lot and therefore gag alot. Any advice from mummies on how to make her 'less' lazy to chew? Thanks

help! my baby seems to always have hard stools and strains quite a bit while passing them. I have been giving him a little bit of prune puree (not much admittedly because im scared they are strong) and trying to up his fruit intake. water is a massive battle - hes not a big fan so now we are trying with droppers and all sorts. Last resort is a laxative as his doc recommended but im still resisting :( any ideas? he is on aptamil 3. is aptamil 3 the same as aptajunior as DD is 2 1/2 and is on aptajunior 3. if so, that could be the reason. for a 9 month old, i think you shud still go to aptamil 2 or even 1. i remember when DD was that age, she hates water. so what i do for liquids is to give really diluted juice, apple or orange. Don't worry, she's a great water drinker now. :D

Hi KittyKat, I remember when I went through that phase 4 years ago when I was also TTC. I went to a gynae who said I had cysts and HPV and blah blah blah. Not helping that I am never regular. I was also given the regular clomid and all that jazz. What I believe helped was I did acupunture for a month. I went on the pill for 3 months to regulate my period then stop. I also started taking folic acid at the same time. I was also depressed when my 1st gynae told me all the bad news. Then I went to get a 2nd opinion and Dr Andrea calmed me down alot. Then I got pregnant. Now a beautiful nearly 3 yo girl. Soon KK. it'll be your turn xx

I am so sorry to read about your sister - I can't imagine how you are feeling. My friend came over to Dubai for what was her last holiday (she had terminal cancer). Some of the days she just had to rest and stay in bed and other days she was up to do what she called her bucket list. There were a couple of things she really wanted to do - one was ride a camel and see the stars in the desert. Another was have dinner on the beach and another was to go into the Burj Al Arab. I called everyone in advance and explained how ill she was and that I would not know for sure if she would be up to doing these things. Each and every company I dealt with in Dubai were superb. She did ride a camel and Desert Rangers took her in her own 4 x 4 gently to the camp when she had had enough. She had her bald head decorated with henna tattoo before anyone else came back to the camp. The manager at the Burj Al Arab was fabulous and let us arrive for drinks with just a few hours notice as the original booking I made she was not well enough to go. We all had a gorgeous dinner on the beach - again - we had this booked but had to cancel at short notice but booked again with very little notice. Everyone was kind and caring the hotels made sure we were met and taken in golf buggies. To see her face when she could tick off her wishes was fantastic. Our quiet days by the pool were gorgeous too and just chatting and enjoying each others company was special. Saying goodbye was incredibly hard and she passed away a couple of months later but knowing that she had done what she wanted to do was a comfort. I saw photos the other day of her and smiled remembering her fondly. Big hugs to you for the next week as I am sure there will be some really hard times for you but try to enjoy these special days. I love the smallprints jewellery idea. My heart breaks for you but I'm sure your sister is loving just being there with you OMG. this post made me tear. but love love love all the things you did. Bless everyone who is very kind to your late bf. :)

Hi Anne, Biggest cyber hug to you. I agree with Sive on her post. It got me thinking that should that happen to me, I want people around me to treat me normal and not go slow just for me. So, ask yourself what's your sister like before? What did she like to do for fun? is it watching girly movies? is it sitting on the couch and just talk? Do what she likes. I'm sure she'll appreciate it more. xx

From Burj, head as tho you're driving towards the Ranches. there will be a turn off towards Dubai which will get you on to the old Emirates Road. Turn off at 'al ain' exit where there will be a sign towards Silicon Oasis. The main building is the pineapple looking one. :)

Congrats!!! Like most posters wrote, that's what I did exactly when I helped planned my friend's wedding. Best thing is to work from your budget so you won't be spending a bomb. Questions to ask yourself is are you flying friends and family over? where will they stay? If you have a favourite hotel, go in and ask what are their packages. You also need to consider a photographer or a videographer if that's what you want. a DJ, oh, also, make sure the hotel provides a banquet room just in case it rains (it happened at my friend's wedding). I love planning weddings.. haha

How soon do you want it for? I am not going to say it's ok or not ok for you to buy it from there, just note that it's not an original item.. since safety is a top priority for LOs. The reason I ask when do you need it for is if you can wait til the summer sales in June, Babyshop usually has fab discounts. I bought my buggy cum car seat for less than 1000aed. :) My cot was a hand me down. heh So if you can wait, then please do so.

The only reason I can think is this: Mothers are humans too. At those period, they are still being emotional from birth etc etc. Perhaps those are the ones who don't have help at home, and with a baby who constantly crying, the best thing to do before they loose their mind and do something stupid is to let it cry for a while, while the moms gather their thoughts. And perhaps you did caught them at the wrong time. I am a mom and I can totally relate. Are you a mom OP? as If you're not, it's easy to point fingers. :D

Hi, Just wondering if anyone has bottle steriliser microwave or electric, and cot mobile to sell. Unexpected visit from new granddaughter, and don't want to spend a fortune. Looked on Dubizzle but sold before had a chance to see. Cot mobile preferably fisher price, with sounds and lights, or similar Many thanks, Janet 0561702611 Look at rentacrib.ae for bulky stuff. Not sure about the steriliser tho x
