Hi, I have not noticed any other Spa using Clarins products except the Clarins Skin Spa itself (in Dubai Mall). You cam buy products in debenhams and harvey nics too I think. Possibly other retailers too but I tend to buy mine in UK or even better at airport as they are more expensive here to buy. A small tip, if you do plan to go for a facial at the Clarins Skin Spa here then it may be worth considering getting the Gulf News subscription for a year as the Good Living books you get with it includes 3 buy 1 get 1 free vouchers for clarins treatments. I can give you more details if interested but I find it worth buying just for these but there are also some other good vouchers you may use in these books. S

Hi, I work in HR and currently recruiting. A few questions: 1. Would you work in AD? 2. What level do you mean by mid-senior level? It means different things to different people so just want to check. 3. What industries have you worked in? 4. Are you a HR generalist? Have you specialised in any particular area of HR? If the vacancies I have are not suitable then may also be able to help with some leads in other companies. S

Hi, That's helpful thanks. I have said all that in my take it or leave it email of this morning so will see what he says. The next and final step is to have hubby speak to him. For some reason the LL always responds better to that male touch. Thanks again for all your replies. S

Thanks cymraes. That's how it works for me too. Housing allowance around double my rent and can get it all upfront but out of principle not paying 1 cheque and just did it last year to get good deal on price. I've given LL a take it or leave it so we'll see what he says.

Thanks cymraes - so are you paying in one cheque again this year? To all you EW experts in, well, pretty much everything - any ideas if this is true that if you want to pay same rental amount as previous year need to pay in same number of cheques or RERA rule doesn't apply? Thanks! S

Thank you both for responses. I have never actually been myself (bad, I know, after 2 years here!) so any hints, tips, recommendations on what & where to buy much appreciated also. I have been to the area several times but just not in the souks. Thanks again! S

Agreed - definitely a working day, not a public holiday - if you want it off, you need to take an annual leave. Some companies may informally give their staff the day (e.g. my friend works for a UK-based law firm who have an office here and although not a public holiday here they do get the day off and the office closes).

Hi, Thanks for all your replies & ideas. I have done the turkey crown before in UK and it was lovely (with some Jamie O tips about basting/cooking elavated on veg and so on!) but can't find a good quality one here - where did you buy your last year GirlAnachronism? I don't mind cooking but would rather get something nice delivered TBH as we cook from scratch most evenings and would be nice to have a break on Christmas Day. Thanks for info about Radisson Blu Yorky - thinking about going for that. Otherwise, my security guys will be having a lovely dinner too if I have to get a huge turkey! Will keep thread updated if I find anything else. Thanks again. S

Sorry meant to answer more specifically re price - I have bought both Perrier Jouet and Veuve Clicquot at Dubai and AD airports, can't remember exact price but definitely more expensive than at UK airport.

I would buy it at UK duty free. Better price and typically they have a deal on a double pack or a 342 offer. M&S, Asda, and Tesco etc always have deals on ( and their own brand is okay dep what you want it for) but I don't really like putting them in a case incase they explode. S

Thank you all for the replies. I was hoping for a turkey crown - looks like I may need to buy the one from Waitrose and do it myself! Will have another check on Room Service website too. I will update the thread if I find anything - for any other twosomes out there! Thanks again! S

Hi, Thanks for that - yes, I noticed that the link from C4 was the iPad 1. The iPad 2 from C4 is the same as you paid at Emax. The Cobone deal says 1 year international warranty from Apple. Is your warranty from Emax the same? I am just a bit nervous about buying such a big purchase from Cobone. Will maybe stick to C4/Emax even although a little more expensive. S

I have always used DHL - they have been good, efficient and you can track the progress on-line. However, not sure the cost the the different weights - but their website details everything quite clearly. If timescale is an issue, then I know that if you take your parcel to the DHL depo at your nearest airport in the UK then it gets here quicker. S

Hi, My husband (using his UAE credit card) has just booked an Emirates flight for my Mum. However, it wasn't direct with Emirates website, he used Opodo as it was slightly cheaper and he had no issues. I have also done it a few times myself for other people and no problems. Maybe the way around it is to book with one of the other 'third party' websites rather than with Emirates direct (that's if there is no/minimal price difference)? S

Hi, I have worked in HR for about 14 years and I would say practice varies. It is not unusual for a future employer to want evidence of currebt pay details. However, this would normally be during or post offer stage. I would also say you need to ensure you and them are comparing like-for-like in terms of overall package as well as pay. Which brings me onto your question about them using your part-time salary as a basis for calculating (potentially, if this is why they are asking for it). If you decide to share your current details with them at the appropriate stage then I would show your current actual salary based on your current number of hours and then show what this means for the hours you will be working in new full time role - so simply pro-rate it upwards if that makes sense. This will ensure they interpret what you are giving them appropriately. Also, it is only relevant to compare current with offer if the job is the same/at a similar level. Remind them of that too if its not. Hope this helps. S

Hi, Depends what you are into in terms of what tourist type things (there is so much you will have to visit time & time again!) and also type of hotels (big chain or smaller boutique hotel etc) - some would say Midtown if you have never been before but, to be honest, once you get your bearings you can get around quickly and easily. Especially if you are willing to use the tube (I mean Subway!) during the day to get about. I would go for the hotel you like & is within budget rather than a specific area - that's what I always do and it has worked out well, even on my first visit. Now knowing the city better I prefer Chelsea, Meatpacking, Lower East Side etc but that's just because of the shopping I like and places to go out in the evening. Here is where I stayed a few weeks back and loved it - http://www.hotelgansevoort.com/ Would highly recommend it but, as with everything, depends what you like. Hope this helps a little - my first stop is always expedia, lastminute, hotels.com etc and take it from there - check if hotel you like is near a Subway station and you'll be fine for getting around to all the key tourist attractions and at night get a taxi. Also, I always look at Tripadvisor too before booking anything and typically the reviews include what the location is like. S

Hi, Does anyone live here? Know what it is like? Been to view an apartment and quite like it but it is a low floor and facing to sea (rather than marina) so balconies etc facing the backside of Grosvenor House with outlook to sea/Atlantis. If anyone lives there, has friends there, please let me know what you think! Thank you! S

Just had my hair cut & coloured by Mel at Ted Morgan (in the Palm). She is new to Dubai but lots if exp and trained in UK. Delighted with results and would recommend her (this is from someone who has been putting off getting hair done in UAE for 2 years that I have lived here and specifically fly back to UK to get hair done!). Hi, Thanks for your comments. Yes, viewings in last few weeks and move in very end of Oct/beg of Nov. Interesting re size. Suspected so but you do struggle to get generous proportions at the Marina. I am in a newish Emaar property at the moment - was first tenant and handover late last year - good size and we would ordinarily have stayed as negotiated good price but has some fundamental issues that they cannot seem to fix so will have to move. Landlord has been offering refund for several months now but we cannot find anywhere to move to!

All speeding tickets and any other traffic violations are dealt with directly by car hire company as that is where car is registered, not with the individual hiring the car. Have recent experience with this so can confirm. If you pay monthly, fines will be in next month's bill. They should call you to let you know what will be charged to your credit card, but I would give them a call to check.

I sat outside at More cafe a week or so ago and it was lovely. Temp and humidity levels fine. Had visitors from Scotland with me and they were okay too. S
