Are you going through a recruitment company? I was looking a few months back and went 2 a girl who was really helpful - she met up with me, sent me off to a few interviews she thought were suitable and always gave plenty of information beforehand so I was prepared. It depends what type of work you are looking for though I guess. There is a demand for temp work, I know its not best situation, but the salary is pretty good to compensate for fact its temp and there is always chance of being kept on because you could be covering maternity or sick leave and the person might not come back or another vacancy may open. The temp ones I went for were always around 9months so its enough to get to know the place and work hard and get some contacts and atleast if you dont like it you can always be looking for other jobs so when your contract ends you will hopefully have found something more suitable. I ended up finding my own job anyway outwith recruitment companies, just one of those things you got to stick at because something will come up eventually, but I definately found the recruitment company I went to very good. Good luck! Thanks vic! Which company helped you out with? I have been contacting recruitment companies as well, but nothing yet. The issue with temp jobs is visa. I'm currently on company visa and my hubby's salary is not so much that he can take me on his visa.

Thanks ladies. I know a month is not too long but the problem is that I'm the main earner. With the debts and house rent and other expenses, just my hubby's salary won't help us survive. I have been networking on Linkedin but even that's not helping.

Hi, What kind of job are you looking for, because as well as the general job boards and recruiters, there are some specific ones too, which i can point you towards. Also ensure your CV is "Dubai friendly": ideally limited to two pages, bullet pointed experience, clear job title and dates, a personal statement/career objective of what your skills are and what you are looking to do, and sometimes a smart head and shoulders photograph in the top right corner helps, if you are comfortable with this. NO jazzy pictures, colours, fonts, sizes, borders, animations or anything like that! edited by brown_eyed_girl on 13/06/2012 Hey, I'm looking out for some thing in Secretarial, PA, Clerical or customer service role. I have 8 yrs UAE experience in Marketing & Secretarial & PA role.

I'm sorry that you lost your job. having work experience in UAE, I'm sure you will find a job very soon. Here are the links to some recruitment agencies that might help. And PLEASE, do not pay any agency to find you a job. It is illegal here for agencies to charge candidate and it is always the employer who is paying the agency. http://www.monstergulf.com/ http://www.naukrigulf.com/ni/nijobsearch/loc-jobs-dubai/ http://www.gulftalent.com/home/index.php http://www.bayt.com/en/uae/jobs/locations/dubai/ Hi Khatoon, Thanks for the suggested list. I have already started applying through naukrigulf and monster. Will surely look into the other suggested sites as well. Please pray that I get a good job soon.

Thanks ladies for your replies. Even I wouldn't steer close to any agency where I have to pay to get a job. Amandashaks, I have mainly Construction industry experience. But I'm open to seek new opportunity in a completely different industry.

Are looking out for purchasing the shades or just putting it up? For purchasing you can visit ACE, they usually have such sails but it has standard sizes. If you want just for installing the shades you can contact Anthony 0507548167. He can also do custom made shades. Got some work done for our company through him.

Hello, i know this proceedure very well, your husbands old company have to have the original cancellation paper for this, JAFZA will accept a copy of the original, If his old company still say they do not have the cancellation paper work tell him to ask them for his SR number from JAFZA. He can take this along with his cancellation visa and they should then be able to help. Hope this makes sense Thanks LChambers for your reply. Sorry for sounding dumb but what exactly is the SR number from JAFZA. Also once he gets the SR number and where does he have to take it? If my sounding dumb I'm sorry. Just too stressed out with this whole situation and with his old company acting so selfish and insane, its just adding too my stress level. And once again thanks a lot for your reply.

thanks shoyz, i was hesitant because saw the images and videos of studio appt, find it little bit dead so i was wondering if its safe to live there alone. can u let me know which RTA bus is available from ibne batuta station to Lago vista and how long does it take to commute to deira city centre. Thanks, i may keep u all bugging here :D Hey ierum, No worries. The thing is occupancy is still 45% only. But people are moving in like almost everyday. You have F46 from Ibn Battuta Station but it takes almost an hour as it comes via green community, I dont know how long would it take to Deira City Centre. I take say like half an hour to reach Rashidya Station to drop my DH.

Shifting in a new apartment and starting life all over again has many of such moments. Yest DH & me had the same. We had ordered some electronic stuff from EMax. While placing the order itself we mentioned it that we are working so would like to have the stuff delivered after 5 p.m., to which the Customer Service people readily agreed. Yesterday was the scheduled delivery date. DH gets a call from the supplier at 9.30 a.m. asking for the location and that he will reach in an hour. DH explains to him calmly that we had asked for delivery after 5 p.m. He says thats not possible and if not today we will come tomorrow and just disconnects the call. We go to Emax outlet in the evening and speak to the customer service guy. Conversation between DH & CSA: DH: We had placed an order for the cooking range and we had specifically asked it to be delivered in the evening as we are working but your guy called up at 9.30 a.m. in the morning stating that he will come to deliver it in an hour's time. And when I told him we are not there, he just states that we will come tomorrow morning and disconnected the call. CSA: (Checks the order invoice, does something on his PC and says...) Sir I'm sorry but the delivery can be done only in the morning. DH: (Getting furious) Then why did your people tell me that they will deliver by evening?? CSA: Sir that is the Emax delivery timing. But your cooking range is coming from the supplier. DH: So why didnt you tell me the supplier delivery time? CSA: Because Sir, we are from Emax. DH: (Trying to maintain his calm) Can you please give me a solution to this problem? Can they atleast come by 4-4.30? CSA: I will just call them Sir Dials the no. speaks to someone in his native language. CSA: Sorry Sir, they can deliver it only before 2 p.m. DH: Let me get it clear to you, me & my wife are working, we can't be home at that time. CSA: Why don't one of you take half day Sir. DH: For your 1 cooking range you expect us to take half day. Its like you guys are holding us at ransom. Take it or f**k off. CSA: Sorry Sir but I can't do anything. Why dont you buy any other cooking range. DH: Ok...show us something in the similar range as I cant pay anything more than this. Its a budget given by our LL. CSA: (Shows some other brand) DH: Ok.....can we are fine with this. CSA: Ok...are you fine with the delivery at 2 p.m. they wont deliver after that. DH (On the verge of strangling the CSA) : Then why did you show me? CSA: Because you wanted something of the same range. CSA: Ok sir...we also have some other brand they will deliver as per your time. DH: Ok what is the price? CSA: AED. xxx DH: Its 300 Aed. more than my budget and I told you clearly that I want it in the same range. Before DH could kill the CSA, I who was enjoying the show and thinking of documenting it on EW sprung into action and just told the CSA, just send the thing by 1.30 - 2. CSA : (Speaks again in his native language on the phone. Hangs up and looks at me and says...) Ok ma'am sir...it will be there before 1 p.m. No strength to argue we give up and just walk out. DH flaming under his breath and saying never ever to return to the store. Today's update: DH gets a call again at 9.30 a.m. the happy driver asking the location to our house as he is just half an hour away!!! :\:

I hear you. With a LL like that, maybe it's a blessing in desguise that you didn't get it? Yes... how true! I wonder if we would have had rented it from him what more would he come up with. Sometimes I wonder if these LL have had ever rented apts. and how could they forget the phase where such matters would have affected them. How can they be so selfish?

Just last week, my Fiance lost his paitence and asked his company to stop the process. It been 4 months since he is jobless and we had our hopes on this visa. Hope things get better for you.

Shoyz - do you know why he lost his job? Does he have a history of being unable to hold down a job? Complaining of headaches - yes, he must see a doctor. Could be a problem with his frontal lobe (emotional control center, personality and memory).[/quote No. He had worked wid swarovski for 4 yrs and then with a retail outlet for 6 months. Then i asked him to come here and then for 6 months bcoz his company backed off from their words about letting him go for his exams to india.

Charredsoul - your post gave me goose bumps. My sister dated a man with a narcissistic personality and it was horrible. Fortunately she got out of it but she was trapped in his world of lies and delusions for a long time. I have also worked with psychopaths in a forensic hospital, and the charming, good looking man with a way with words, was also the man who inflicted life threatening wounds to his girlfriend. Shoyz - your OH may have an Acquired Brain Injury from his childhood incident. Talking to his parents, with his consent, is a good idea but he needs to be reviewed by a neurologist. Hurting you is not excusable, and under stressful circumstances this could only get worse. Does your OH work ie. is he able to function on a day to day level? TwoKids: I'm having the same doubts. He was working and he lost his job. Just 2 days back he has got a new job. He functions perfectly well in his day to day level but yes he does complain of headache most of the times.

Shoyz - The intention is not to put doubt in your mind, but more for you to understand other possibilities. Go back to the burn mark incident, he created a full story around how he got the burn mark in college, that's not forgetting what happenned but more than that. Having lived a lifetime with people with similair behaviour, it usually turns to be an underlying mental health issue combined with personality. A carpet salesman as someone has said here. Have you seen surgery marks etc for the surgeries he claims to have had has a baby? Could they be surgery for something else? I was married to someone like that and had very similair experience as you did before we got married - believe me it only only gets worse. His unstability will eat your life away. Some incidents were very similair to yours for instance he had cut his hand in a drama situation like yours and perhaps created a story to explain it to others...a while later when I was looking at the marks on his hand, he told me in detail about this freak accident he had with a drinking glass...I listened in shock and then reminded him. Another incident where he broke his car's side mirror while getting out of a car park by mistake. A while later we were in Bur Dubai market area and he sees one of those porters with a handpulled cart and tells me that these guys are a nuisance and they annoy him and with vivid description went on to describe how they broke his car side mirror recently! He denied when I told him how it had broken and was adamant, I nearly called the 3rd person who was with us when he broke the mirror and suddenly he admitted - pretended embarrassed. It wasnt a neurological problem and not necessarily a mental illness too - very bad bringing up, a narcissist and a manipulative person. So much of a liar, that yes its true he would believe his own lies. Above incidents were pre-marriage. The incidents after marriage were life threatening and dangerous and 18 years to date from the day I met him I still am being haunted by him. Currently, I am close to giving up the kids to him temporarily, for their own good. He does love them and will look after them reasonably. Why am I considering giving up? Because he's slowly working on making them believe that my OH is sexually abusing them. Why? He doesn't want the kids living with me and OH. If your fiance is anything like him, you need to know now. Doesn't mean your fiance is the same, but from what I read and I read it very closely it is worrying that the above is more like it. Does he do the same to others? I realised my ex would not dare try it with someone who would not put up with rubbish. Do you find yourself making excuses for him? Enlist a friend who you can be completely honest with to guide you along, you are probably too close to make a fair judgement. I am willing to help if required. Shoyz, I have taken time out from a very important project deadline to write this to you, just for you to understand the possibilities. Please give this possibility one chance. Thanks charredsoul. But about his operation, I had rechecked it with his mom. The operation had to be done coz he was paralyzed after the fall. Ever since he is small he has been like this. Once he gets angry and then he sleeps and when he gets up its like nothin ever happened. But his parents never payed so much attention to it until I told them about it yesterday.

Hi Mazzarina, Thanks for the info. Can you please advice how much did all this cost you roughly? I saw in Cosmo that pastels had done the hair and makeup of the beauty director from Cosmo US for some award show. I had a ball to go to so I went along thinking if it was good enough for her it would be good enough for me. I cant remember the name of the girl who did my makeup at the al wasl branch but she told me she had done training with some international makeup artist who has done shoots in Vogue and for the BAFTAS. The results were fantastic - usually my skin is blotchy and I thought I could never wear eyeliner but it seems all I needed was an expert touch! The makeup lasted ages and all night, everyone was telling me how well I looked. My DH who usually hates when I have makeup applied professionally (for a wedding where I was a bridesmaid, we went to MAC and he kept calling me Christina Agueilera all day as the makeup was so heavy!) even loved it. No idea how much it was on its own as I also had my nails done and a facial. Hipe this helps!
