Thank you, my budget is actually on point for what I'm looking for but they seem to want to sell off certain places that are on their books rather than show me what I'm looking for in an apartment/area. I'm not necessarily after the "views" either, it's a good location for me to get around for work and play. Then it's better to reply directly to adds on propertfinder that you like and you will be shown those properties, even really good agents will not have access to all vacant apartments.

As a former estate agent it sounds like your budget is to low for the standard you want. If they had an amazing apartment within your budget they would show it. The amount of times I had clients that wanted a modern apartment with Marina view for the budget of an apartment facing construction, funny enough I'm no longer in real estate;)

Thanks a lot ladies for responses. I'll give her the docs except the passport ? Thats up to you, but if the maid decides to report your for holding her passport, you face a hefty fine as it's illegal to hold anyone's passport in Dubai.

I thought they were. They have to be Rera certified? Yes they need to be, always ask to see their rera card if in doubt and if you have any issues after that you should complain to rera.

thx Rainforest Cafe was what i had in mind too but it was my last resort as my daughter doesn't like the loud sounds :( Maybe i should try Cafe Ceramique - has anyone been, is it any good? The food is nothing special, but she might enjoy the painting.

Rainforest café might be fun for your little one. I can't think of many restaurants a 3 year old will have a lot of fun in. Bistro on Sheikh Zayed Road has a play area, but nothing really exciting.

A lot of agents have fake listings, so the low price might have been there but long time ago, your budget is a bit on the low side, I think if you increase to 135 -140 k you might find something.

That's nice, to be fair you don't really need any fancy equipment for a dog. They will be happy on any old rug if they get some love.

Hello there, @comp99 - Yes, I thought to use the study as a bedroom but that still leaves a live-in with nowhere to go in the Spring and we can't not have a live-in with our baby and me needing to go back to work. We will need 3 sleeping spaces for Mom & Dad + 2 kids (one is a baby). @iamcristee79 - Yes, we need three bedrooms (or 2+study) PLUS a maid's room. You stated you could check your availability? Do you represent owners in the Springs or other developments? I can't give a total budget as my husband will decide that but I can say what we pitch in for rent above 120k a year (husband's housing allowance) we wish to keep minimal You would need to look for a 3 bedroom + maid or study (can be used as a bedroom in some villas), there are no 2 bed +maid +study. You will have to be prepared to top up your allowance.

The summer and Ramadan is probably the worst time of the year to jobhunt, everything slows down. Their are some job losses, but also there are growth in other sectors as well. Have you tried Facebook pages for your nationality in Dubai etc?

Word of warning some guy posted on one of the other forums saying that he and his Brother rented a place on the shoreline and they only got one access pass for the beach. I don't know if there has been a problem accessing the facilities as I beleive I read something about charging for the passes If its a family renting they all get access cards, which means married couple with children. Their visitors would need to pay. It's probably just one brother on the contract, so they will not recognise them as a family living together...

There is a power struggle in your home, and your maid is trying hard to steel your home from you! In any culture or community, no one have the right to obstruct your access to your child, unless it's a court order - this is not the case at all - this maid really have to be gone! She is constantly going out, in this heat! She is meeting up with someone or her friends, and using the excuse of having your baby with her all the time, by creating a strong bond between her and your baby, so she can glue herself into this household and disregard your position as the lady of the house and getting more power by having your baby consider her "mum" instead of you! If it was me, I'll not let that maid stay in my home another minute, she'll be on the next flight home with all her dues.... Even if I'll be crawling on four, I won't need a woman like this to be under my roof, I understand from your posts you are stay at his me mum, until you hire a new maid; have the agency maids to come and do chores, you can cook meals for a week ahead and freez it.. Your baby look she is younger and might be learning to walk - from the posts you posted I got this impression- in this age baby want to walk and explore more than being held, you can do it, you don't need the passive aggressive and reality check attitude from that maid, we hire maids to make our live easier not a constant fight like that Ouch, this is mean, a lot of these girls genuinely loves children and I think they are just trying to look after the children as a motherly instinct. When you start to have these kind of thoughts, don't bring a maid in to your family.

No don't go to rera for the case of a lock! What does it say in your contract about who is responsible for which maintenance? Generally tenants are responsible for minor repairs below 1,000 dhs for villas, depending on what you have signed.

I would say the maid isn't a fit for you, it sounds like she means well taking her to the park etc. Do you think you might be a bit too protective that the maid doesn't get a too close relationship with your child? It's difficult to change someone's personality and these girls mostly don't have much training or education and it's difficult to change if it's not working out.

Our were removed, but got paid in the salary whatever benefits we had, so didn't effect us that much and it meant we could rent somewhere cheaper if we wished. There are not really any laws to protect that the benefits remains, it was pretty much do you agree or do you want to leave?

We are glad to see the back of you! LOL! You won't be saying that for long! The UK is one of the biggest contributors to the EU budget ( I think around 8 Billion pounds in net contribution annually). The other EU countries won't be too happy when they are saddled with larger contributions. The UK is a financial powerhouse! In or out, they will be fine. It's the other smaller European economies which will suffer the most. I don't know, I am married to a Brit and from an EU country, children have dual passports, so don't mind if you are right ?

Both sides were making very strong arguments nd the result is so close. Good luck to Britain and EU. Weighted voting may become a concept of the future, As expats in this country, does this affect your day to day life in anyway? I am sure the results of it are very unknown at this time though. I wonder how it affects marriages between Brits and non Brits.

Fujairah is a bit more conservative than Dubai, I would think twice before stripping off in public, a better choice would be to spend a day at one of the hotel beaches and they are not as pricey as in Dubai for a day pass.

The more I have been speaking with friends and colleagues and been reading about the decision for the UK to leave, I agree with posters here that there were some rebellious voters that didn't really know what they were voting for and it seems to be the older generation that wanted out and a lot of young educated people wanted to stay. I had a "friend" telling me he's happy to be out, as that will stop the scroungers, as there are no Brits on benefits, if it's people like that been making the decision, I actually feel sad for the ones that wanted to remain. There were definitely people voting out for the wrong reasons. The ones that wanted out I'm glad they are out, but obviously a lot would have been happier to stay...

I went for a look around this week - thinking about renting in the next phase of release which is June. It's quirky and the main attraction has to be the reduced DEWA bill. I am just a little concerned about the practicalities of the buggy when it's roasting hot and you have grumpy kids and lots of shopping. I am guessing you would need to pick your property carefully. I was told all the properties with garages were either already rented or sold. It would be interesting to see what DEWA bills look like for those who have already moved in. I am thinking that it may be worth a punt - if we don't like it then the contract is only 1 year. The community pool looked great. I went for a look in the weekend and the car parks are literally walking distance from the villas and you are driving past the villas to park, so I don't think it's a problem to drop off shopping etc. I wonder if those buggies actually will be used, as the community is small.

Not everyone voted OUT. This is a tragedy for everyone who believed in a united Europe. We have seen the longest period of peace in Europe since the fall of the Roman Empire. If you can rejoice at the beginning of the collapse of one of the most forward thinking movements in the last hundreds of years then you are either deluded or sad. Countries united by close trade agreements do not go to war. Europe tried to destroy itself for hundreds of years, the EU was, and pray God still, will be a bulwark against another war. The UK has made a terrible mistake, which we will regret deeply in the future. In the meantime, this is no time to revive old prejudices. I think you are right, but now I think it's the right thing to do as the majority do think they are better outside the EU and everyone is tired of listing to how much better the UK would be if they weren't part of the EU.

Hi ladies, My nurseries start date back after the summer holidays is the 30th August (camp finishing in the 18th) leaving us with no childcare in between, I start back to work on the 21st. Does anyone know of any summer camps or clubs that would be suitable for 19month old twins? Or nannies that would be available for that time? I live in sports city dubai Thanks in advance In Time Out kids magazine it's a booklet with camps in Dubai, lots of nurseries in it, so you would probably find something.

That's a difficult one, she could probably be able to get a job or internship, but it's really not easy and the salaries can be really low, but cost of living is probably cheaper than Australia, things like public transport and groceries definitely are. If she's determined to go, ask her to find Facebook groups for her nationality or expats in general. As she likes children she could offer baby sitting for example. Do your research, as you say you are on a tight budget and there are a lot of children her age that aren't on a tight budget over here, if she will be comfortable with that as well. With the makeup education, I'm sure there are options for her. The makeup stores are long hours and not well paid, but there are companies doing makeup for model agencies etc and they are better paid.

Also still thinking about Marina. I've done a lot of research and obviously traffic is a major problem. Are there any areas that are less congested? Many thanks If you are working in Internet City, try to be more towards that side of the Marina and it should be ok. Avoid JBR, Dorrabay, Jewels and those towers that are close to JBR at the other end of the Marina.

Dubai mall definitely open, but it was chaos on friday lunch time Paul cafe in dubai mall was also open and for those interested, Mcgettigans and a few other places are open for "adult drinks" from 12pm lots changing this year. Guess it has to do with tourism and the Euro's For sure, a lot to do with tourism as Ramadan is merging in to the tourism season and there are just too much money to be lost, same with the football. I hope people still remain respectful and don't push the boundaries, as I do feel this is a positive step.

And they have been promising the swimming pool since they opened a few years ago - what is taking so long? Is that a finance problem? Because with the amount of fees people pay, you'd think they'd have the money to fix the pool! Maybe they are using that money to finance another new school! True, and they refused discounts on the school fees, as parents were complaining that all facilities weren't in place that were promised and would justify the high school fee.

I wouldn't say swimming pool is a deal breaker, but this is a very expensive school and then I would like it to be top education AND facilities, which you can get in other schools. Look at Nord Anglia, Repton or DBS Jumeirah Park, depending on where you will be living and working.

It is, even the one downstairs is open this year. Overall noticed more places are open this year. Dubai Mall has food court and at least Eataly open. Dubai Marina Mall has food court open. Tecom was a good name, it was setting it apart and everyone knew what you were talking about. Al Barsha heights is just confusing and Al Barsha is getting too big and spread out as an area. I can't see a name change will change the property prices or that it would become more upmarket, it still is and look exactly the same.
