I would take the cheques to Dubai Landdepartment and hand them in there. I know you can do it if the Landlord doesn't renew the contract for example or just ask them for advice.

You could try agencies like Diva Models or Bareface. As for increasing confidence? Could actually have the opposite effect. The industry is ruthless and competitive and if people don't get picked for whatever reason, it's actually a confidence knocker, increases lack of body/looks confidence etc. Think very carefully before allowing your child to go down this route. I couldn't agree more, if she's not the most confident child and going to castings and get rejected it will not be good for her selfesteem. One of my children has done some modeling in the past and I had the agent promising him some jobs and then pull out last minute and telling me the client have chosen another child. It can be tough and we are no longer with any agency.

I'm trying to eat vegetarian 5 times a week and limit cheese and dairy, but I don't substitute them with soy products as the research I have done shows it's basically prossesed food so not a healthy option. Indian restaurants in general have very good vegetarian options. Italians always have some decent things on the menu as well, but as a vegan, I guess the cheese is the biggest culprit. Veggie boutique 77 in JLT as mentioned is really good. Chinese/Asian restaurant often has good veg options with tofu or just plain veg based dishes. I found that Dubai cater quite well for vegetarians.

The buildings sound ok, you could also check out Silverene, it's really nice close to Marina Mall and the metro. West Avenue is also quite a nice tower.

All the best with your move. Meadows is definatley the best option if they will go to DBS as the traffic coming out of the Marina is always heavy, DBS is a very popular school hence the new branch.? The OP is looking for DBS JP that's in the Jumeirah Park community, but sure Meadows is nearby as well.

I wouldn't bother to be honest. School reception jobs generally goes to ladies that are here on husband's visa, not a job you could live comfortably on. There will be others that are on their husband's visa that will pick up this kind of job, so they will not bend over to employ you, sorry to be harsh.

You would only be 30 min from the public beach or hotel brach from the Ranches and a 30 min drive from hotels like Madinat Jumeirah and Jumeirah Beach Hotel, 20 from Mall of the Emirates that literally got everything. You have a few date nights restaurants in the community as well, alcohol license. Silicon Oasis to Mirdif CC is 20 min maximum and going out in the area around Dubai Mall, 30 min. Not to be rude, but put places into Google map and check the distance. Download Waze app, its excellent to monitor where there are often traffic jams in Dubai. The accident rates and death rik is extremely high in Dubai, so it's not just about time consuming it's your families safety as well.

The Marina to Silicon Oasis will be a draining bus journey for your child, straight road is 35 km... The schools mostly starts before 8 am, most likely your child would have to leave before 7 am. It would take minimum 1 h with a school bus, including the pick ups and drop offs of other children. The Villa is a nice community close to Silicon Oasis and so is Arabian Ranches and would work well too.

You could ask the managing agents such as Emaar for your building what the average cost for a one bed. in a certain building is likely to be. You can also reduce cost by not running A/C all the time - many people switch it off in the winter for a few hours but you have to be careful you don't get any mould from damp. Some landlord may include it in their rent as they are the people who would pay the actual bill usually. er no we don't! If it's Emicool, the tenant has the account in their name and they pay it, owners don't. Also Emicool has a standard minimum fee a year. Yes it will also depend on the provider I suppose, there is Palm Cooling as well, don't know if they differ in price.

DBS JP won the Mother, baby and child award for the best school last year. I have mainly just heard really good things about the school, really good teachers and amazing facilities. Gems Wellington is also a really good school, with very good facilities as well. Just go and visit both schools and your gut instinct will tell you which one you have the best feeling for, I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either. If you are considering DBS Jumeirah Park, I would recommend you to look at the villas in Jumeirah Park for accommodation, some of them are walking distance and none are more than a 5 min drive to the school. There is a new school called Sunmark that's in JVT, have you looked into that one, looks very nice, but don't know anyone that started there yet. The villas in JVT are quite nice as well.

It depends on what you find affordable. I think JVC and JVt are in a quite good location without being crazy expensive. JLT is a bit lower than the Marina for example, but still has excellent location with all towers not being to far from the metro.

I love it, but the location doesn't work for us, haven't heard anything from anyone living there. I think they have a sales office there as well and you can rent without the agent commission.

I guess it's an expensive lesson, don't use an agency again, I don't get why people would pay 25,000 dhs to get a maid, that's a fee of 2,000 dhs a month during a year, if you had added that to a maids salary in Dubai, they would most likely been happy and stayed with you.

Regarding the hotel, I would choose one in the Downtown area as you will be kind of in the middle and it will be easy for you to explore. Raffles is nice, but there isn't that much around it that would be walking distance. The Oberoi has a better location, you also have the Marriot Marquis in the same area, which is the tallest hotel in the world, with some amazing restaurants and a bar on the 72nd floor. Other nice hotel in Downtown includes The Palace Hotel and Vida Downtown and of course the Armani hotel that's already been mentioned.

You are lucky that you were working from home and noticed your nannies behavior. There are lots of nannies out there that are bored with their jobs and children and might not abuse the children, but it's not exactly quality care provided. And not unreasonable of you to put a ban on her, I think you should, she doesn't seem fit around children and has been acting disrespectful.

It will depends a bit on which area and company. DIFC is just like London, maybe a bit more "glam", but if you work in Deira for example you would dress a bit more conservative and defiantly cover shoulders and knees.

Toro Toro in the Grosvenor House is excellent and all served at the table, Im not really a bruncher, as I'm not really a fan of buffets and think they often just serve the cheapest wines etc, but I was well impressed with this one and it's not one where you feel awkward just being the two of you. 500 dhs with alcohol including a quite nice sparkling wine/ red and white and beer and they made cocktails fresh at a drink trolley at you table (no champagne package though, which I'm not really fussed about anyway). Aw sounds lovely! Is this a churrascaria style brunch? First you get a selection of starters at the table, after that it is churrascaria (by far the best I tried, really high quality cuts, especially the tenderloin and there were nice prawns too) with a selection of very good side dishes. At the end it was two kind of cakes and fresh fruit, although delicious, it was getting a bit too much......

My first instinct is DESC between these two, but I don't necessary agree that the not for profit school is always better. And to be fair mostly heard positive reviews about Kings Al Barsha and if that's the school you live closer to it might make sense to pick that one, a child in year 9 could also feel more positive going to school if the facilities are a bit more up to date. I don't think you can go wrong with either, go with you and your child's gut instinct.

If I remember correctly, you will get access card for the family that rents the apartment and you need to be married ( as it is illegal to live unmarried in Dubai...know people do it, but it is a problem on the Shoreline). Visitors has to pay for Beach/pool access there.

Yes I think you should give her an amount that would have been similar to the home ticket. Her fiancée tried to make a kind gesture and maybe didn't know her employer should pay for the ticket, he would have been better off giving her a gift otherwise.

I bought the family app at the beginning of the year, so far I have used two vouchers, which has saved me 90 dhs.... seems like it will take me a while to pay off the cost of the actual app...too early to say, but not many outlets I feel excited about.

Istanbul would be off the list, for safety reasons. I would probably go with Colombo if you haven't visited Sri Lanka yet, but travel for the beach or something, wouldn't bother with Colombo itself. Zanzibar sounds nice as well, but do some research, not safe everywhere. Salalah doesn't have much to do and I found the hotels overpriced once there (more expensive than Dubai).

I haven't lived there myself, but have friends that lived there and I have visited. KL us generally pretty safe if you live in a nice building, don't know about the other locations. I get the impression that you can get a good education in Malaysia, but don't know the prices. There are plenty of Halal food as their is a large Muslim population in Malaysia. I found the food very reasanoble priced,if you go to 5 star hotels of course it's nearly as expensive as Dubai, but there are a lot of cheaper but still very good options. The supermarkets are quite a bit cheaper. Overall, Malaysia would be a country I would consider to be an expat in and I'm very fussy, think you will enjoy moving there if you have a good package. Lovely big free park with pools next to the Petronas Twin Towers.

If go to places like the NailSpa, Tips and Toes and Nbar you will get everything apart from the wax glove (which is an extra charge), make sure you book a regular manicure and not an express or polish change only, went to Nbar the last time and it cost 75 dhs, which is kind of average for that kind of manicure, hope you were charged less.

I get the impression that Prague is quite a small walkable city We booked tickets to the Black light theatre that seems suitable for older children at least. We are quite happy just exploring old architecture and chill on our breaks, so I'm not sure they have much targeted towards a 7 year old like they would have in London for example. We were looking to book a medieval show as well, but was put off by reviews on TripAdvisor that they aloud smoking in there. It's somewhere I have been thinking to visit for quite some time now and our children are a bit older, so appreciate just seeing a new city or country.

That sounds like the taxi driver tried it on... The security just informed him that taxis are needed at the Mall and it wasn't booked for a specific passenger... I have just called RTA and Metro Taxi and apparently yes they have assured me that the mall security are now calling taxis during busy periods to speed up waiting times. These are called 'call out taxi's' and yes the starting price is 12 Dhs. My complaint was not the driver but the system. A customer should be told that they are a call out taxi before having everything loaded in the boot or you're in the taxi yourself. There should be some notification on the taxi to inform the customer that they are a call out or the driver should tell you from their window. Yes it will state on the meter but who checks that before they get all their groceries into a taxi? Anyway logged my complaint and had my moan for the day. So if you're at the malls just ask the driver before loading all your groceries ladies. Learnt my lesson anyway. Such a shame that RTA has these rules, I guess a lot of driver will get a hard time trying to explain this rule.

Hi Silvstet One school has offered us a place but has given us a date in April to pay the deposit by but I have to send an acceptance letter back in 10 days. I wanted to know if I accept, can I decline before I pay the deposit?? I will have heard from the second school by then. It's better that you speak to the school directly, but it sounds like you could get away with paying the deposit if you change your mind.

They will not take it as you have accepted the school until you have paid the deposit and normally the deposit is not refundable...the way schools here make money unfortunately.

Most schools offer 2 free after school clubs a week that is organized by the school and their teachers (Regent included). If there are outside providers there is a charge (mostly quite high like 80-100 dhs per lesson). If your child is part of the school teams like football or swimming, they can sometimes get free session to train provided by the school.

I went on a school tour there years ago and then went for an open day. My first visit, I thought the school looked ok, but the second time it was something that really buggered me, think it was some management that I spoke to and made my decision that the school was certainly not for us.
