What happened with Hartland? There was a lot being written about it on here before it opened, but then went very quite.

I am glad you got flashed, maybe this will help with the speeding lunatics on the roads, at least it seems like one will slow down.

The only way to find out is to start working, as it's comission based it depends on yourself and the markey how much or little you make, if you haven't figured that out, I'm not sure you are ready for it.

I think some people think Dubai is Saudi Arabia, I guess they didn't actually had full blown s*x, but maybe a kiss and a cuddle.

3,000 dhs seems like quite normal for live outs. That should cover rent and transportation.

I used to live between the roads and traffic was really bad at school hours and evenings, especially Al Wasl road, so it might divert more cars to Jumeirah Beach road, which could even out the traffic I suppose. Weekends Jumeirah Beach road used to be busier.

I would definitely go for Jumeirah Park if your children are in the school there, a lot of villas are within walking distance from the school. JVT would be my last choice, as you have a good budget. The location of JVT is good, but the other options are nicer communities in my opinion, happy house hunting ?

I would go for the Volvo as well . The Tahoe is really high, I know someone driving one and she said she can't enter some malls because of the height!

Yes the Malls seems busier than ever, so much so I start to consider using those delivery services for grocery shopping.

We went to the one near Park n Shop. There are 2 art frame shops there. We went to the one next to a chinese restaurant and were ripped off. We will never go back to them again. What happened? We have alwayshad good enough experience.

I have used it to make soups, stews and rice. It's quicker and to change the meat color I use fry option and put one tsp oil. So far i had good result. I made Pakistani dish nihari in it and the process time was cut in half! Thank you, do you think it works the same as a slowcooker, I never had one before, so don't know what kind of result I would have in one of them? For me it feels a bit aggressive on the food when I have been cooking.

I got a multi cooker from Sharaf DG and very pleased! Check on www.myrecke.com It's great and can be used as slow cooker too with keep warm feature. It replaces quiet a few cookers! I got one too, as I was shopping for a slowcooker and saw this one. I mostly use it as a rice cooker though. I tried making bolognese in it, but found the mince got too minced up and grainy in it, I like to have a bit lumpy meat, I am not sure if I did something wrong, tried whole chicken as well and it tasted good, but no colour, so looked unappetising... Do you have something you like to cook in yours?

January is generally a bit quieter with tourists, after Christmas and New Year, but it might be less than normal not sure. I have family coming over for Easter and a few hotels were already fully booked Shouldn't the lower oil prices benefit tourists, as it's cheaper to fly?

There are usually two different types of assistants - classroom helper and a teaching assistant. Generally speaking classroom helpers are paid less. Their roles are quite different than those of a teaching assistant. Realistically, if you are going to work as a teaching assistant at a decent nursery/school don't accept less than AED 5000 per month. In general teaching assistants are paid between AED 5,000 - AED 8,000 per month depending on the school/nursery. Unfortunately most nurseries offer less than that for TA, even some of the reputable ones, but yes shop around. The more people decline low offers, maybe they will have to push salaries a bit. I have two friends that works as TA in international schools and get paid 4,000 dhs a month...and they are Europeans.

They are all good areas. The main issue is where you are going to work or if you have children in schools. Try to pick an area as close as possible to those, as the traffic is worse than ever. It's so personal as well, like Samram seems to prefer Motorcity over Jumeirah Park, but there would be others that think Motorcity is too far from the beach and would prefer the big garden the JP villas offer and there is a school and a community centre within walking distance from a lot of the villas. If I had the choice I would go for Jumeirah Golf Estate, for the beautiful villas or Jumeirah Park for the location.

OMG, think I have been in touch with this lady, is she looking for Driver role with only light housework? She was back in the Phillapines and said she was coming back to Dubai this week. I asked her for reference details and there was a whole big story of why she could not given them. She was asking for 4000dhs! I told her without proper references etc, that I would not be interested, she actually was very rude and told me she was not a slave and that 4000 was her minium asking salary! Does her name begin with a C trustgone?? A female version of the next in line to the UK throne? I agree, meet the ex sponsor in person with a photo Id to prove they are the real ex sponser . I know this is a pain, but could just save you alot of heartache in the long run! That's hilarious, she thinks someone will employ her with that attitude! You get a lot of Careem rides for 4,000 dhs...

Without knowing your background it's difficult to know what your minimum standards are. Personally I would go back home if I had to send my children to the cheapest schools here in Dubai, as they would be entitled to good education in schools back home.

Hi all, my husband has had interest from a company so wanted to find out some details. Do local construction companies in Dubai give good packages like pay for schooling and accommodation? Would they do that for a senior project manager? How much would one need to live on per month with a pre schooler, toddler and a baby? Is the economy stable ? Let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks so much. Depends on the company, not all give a large education or accommodation packages You would need to negotiate this in. For a Senior PM ( Aged over 40) I would expect to see a salary of at least AED40,000 + per month plus family benefits Is any economy in the world stable at present? There are a lot of buildings going up however a lot of companies here have recently posted massive losses. Dubai is an expensive city to live in however it is doable if you don't live the expensive bling ex pat life A local construction company wouldn't necessary pay this amount +benefits, as they generally pay less than the international companies. In construction, even for high management positions the "expat packages" are rear, but still possible to earn good money.

It's getting too expensive as well, 495 dhs for the book. I might go with the app later on if we are going to Wild Wadi which is 100 dhs less. The dining outlets in the Family book looked quite poor overall. Aquaventure runs special residence rates regularly, so not really bothered about that one. YAS Waterworld often have discounts as well. And I couldn't see any of the popular brunches like Al Muna in it.

Sarahlou123 is correct and it seems like you have been more than generous towards her during employment, it's up to you if you want to give a bonus. I would just ignore the subject and send her on a plane back at the end of the contract. If she's expecting such a big end of service bonus, I wouldn't really trust her to be honest and she knows that she's trying you on.

Do you tip or offer a cup of tea or a treat in general if they do a good job? I find a good girl every now and then, but I do look after them and they know they get treated well if they do a good job. The girl I have now, tells me she wants to come to my house everyday ?. I had some really bad cleaners, but always tell the agency not to send them again and I have also changed agency a few times...

I'm looking for a break and the prices are quite good, but wonder if it feels cut price ones there and is there anything else to do there apart from the resort? We have been to Muscat several times and also Salalah, so looking for something new in the region.

I think its better that you take her to a recommended GP or pediatrician and if they think it's necessary for her to see a gynecologist, they would be able to recommend someone suitable. I hope the girl is ok and nothing happened to her.

the Intercontinental on the Marina has one of the best roasts dinners I've had - its on the ground floor in a restaurant called Accents. They have all cuts of meat (loads of pork) and all the trimmings. The veg etc is kept in small quantities but always replenished to ensure freshness. Which day is it on, I would like to try it?

Jumeirah Heights apartments are beautiful and in a good location, not much traffic around. The school run could be difficult though, as you would have to go through some really busy roads to get to Al Khail school. If you have the option to live somewhere closer to school, I would probably do it. The school run is the biggest headache for most mums here.

Left Bank in Madinat does a huge plate of roast and very reasonable priced, think it was 120 dhs including a drink, but might just be served Friday, Saturday. The Ribroom does one that is out of this world, but can imagine it's a bit on the pricey side, only had it with a set menu.

JVT and JVC are nicer than the Springs, but lacking the amount of facilities, but they are not too far out and you would have a garden etc. JLT is nice for families as well with a huge park, lots of shops, restaurants, on the metro line (aapartments). Most properties doesn't come with appliances, so wouldn't choose a location depending on that.

Thank you brie 03 and syd123. I know I will be working in Jumeriah and or JLT I guess it will be easier to see how things are situated once I actually get there... Do you have and idea on rough costs for single room apartments/ studios? That is what I am having difficulty getting a gauge on. Thanks again :) propertyfinder.ae is really good. Type area and size of apartment. JLT would be ideal if you are going to work there.

There is no minimum salary, you can actually be out of pocket some months, as you are paying for transport etc. The positives are you can earn well, but it generally requires hard work and thick skin.

All I can say it's a myth that it's easy money and just to open the door and you get a deposit. Be prepared to work hard, even get abuse, yes there are flexibility, but also weekends, trying to get listings, it's unusual that you start somewhere with properties for you to sell or lease. You will be the one to find them and hopefully not get a landlord or owner that have unrealistic expectations what they can rent /sell for. Spend lots of times waiting for no shows at viewings, get clients that expects you to be a tour guide and show them around the whole Dubai and then go and close the deal with someone else.
