Yes it is...Australia is on the list of countries that are allowed to exchange their permanent driver’s licence from their home country for a Dubai driving licence.

I DON'T need to explain myself to you but I do it so as to clear things: I asked OP to contact me about the hair extensions because I wanted to give her a hand. And since you brought up the subject of diamonds, you must have dug long through the threads to find this, I also said I can help and to contact me because this is my business: I design bespoke jewellery! And if I say this is my business I am faulted for promoting my business here. If I offer to be contacted in order to offer the same service like Cara for example (a place you all know and promote freely) I am again faulted. I chose once to withdraw from this forum because some unsavory comments ( I think you know well what I mean...even though you changed your user name, style is the same), I came back and now I definitely will just say good bye to this place! Play nice ladies, and hope the newcomer will not be scared off by certain users here!

As Cowboy says the shop upstairs in Beach Centre has real hairpieces. and as saralou mentioned there are many salons too that sell them. Take care with posters who ask to contact you by email to tell you where to find something when they could easily just openly post the name of the shop where they bought the item. It does not make sense for you to have to contact a third person personally to know the name of a store. I do not get the need for the secrecy, there's nothing to stop anyone recommending retail stores by name directly on here and others could find the info useful too. OMG...I feel that you're referring to me in this post! The reason I asked her to contact me is because I have bought my extensions not from a shop but from a lady that brings them. I don't apologize for NOT posting the lady's number or name here, I did that for obvious reasons. I am a member of this forum for 6 years, not posting too much unless I can give a useful info or advice or asking for same. So, she's safe contacting me, no hidden agenda and no monsters lurking in the shadows....:) :)

My whatsapp calling didn't work on data plan, only on wi-fi. When I spoke on Whatsapp or Skype with my kids in Europe and Canada, they were on data plan. Only here seems to work only on wi-fi the whatsapp calling. edited by simoralu44 on 10/05/2015

Sorry, we're giving out of date information. I think for most of us, when we went to download Skype that was the case. I didn't know it had changed. No need to be sorry :) Yes, used to be blocked years ago...

The chalks are perfect for a temporary fancy color. You can find in Dragon Mart at very cheap price, no reason to pay too much at Pastels or any other salon.

Once you have the calling enabled on Whatsapp, calling while on wi-fi connection is not a problem. Also, I don't get why people are advised to download Skype before they arrive here...Skype website is no longer blocked here, you can download Skype and use it for computer to computer or computer to mobile or mobile to mobile, and I am not talking here about calling with Skype credit! Viber still works, Oovoo works, but all mostly while on wi-fi not on data plan.

I don't want to enter in a debate with you ThirdCultureFamily, but since I run a textile factory for 12 years and had to go through numerous inspections in order to be accredited to manufacture for major brands, and some high-street ones as well, I know that the required standards are the same no matter for which market are destined. And I wouldn't really berate the quality of the work done in China either...do you own an iPhone Fairy Dust?? Not all Chinese goods are bad quality, to generalize is not fair to millions of people working and doing a great job!!! edited by simoralu44 on 27/04/2015

Actually, each factory making branded stuff has to have the same standard! They go through thorough inspections before being given an order for the brand. In a branded staff you pay years of of work to bring the brand where is now on the market, loads of funds invested in marketing, PR, advertising...and last, but not least the quality of the used material, the quality of making, etc...thing is more of the copies are made in the same factories, by the same workers and with the same fabric so, judge for yourself. As for the non-branded stuff...you can get amazing quality at very small price. But yes, branded staff should cost more, because was more invested in it. Nowadays though, the prices are sky high...some times, unjustified.

I am asking because the daughter of a friend is about to take a job with Emirates but she woyldn't like to live in the company's accommodation but somewhere nearby so she can take advantage of the Emirates buses. Yogurt is high in calcium and protein. But make sure to only choose yogurts that do not contain artificial sweeteners or added sugars. Yogurts with active bacteria can act as a probiotic and are good for your dog’s digestive system. Our Danes love their kibble with yogurt almost every morning!! As for cheese, only as a treat and they also love it.

Jander66, Fiat500 answered to you on the other thread you were asking about tortoises. She asked you to leave your contact details there so she can get in touch. African spur tortoises are classified as Vulnerable (VU) on the IUCN Red List, and listed on Appendix II of CITES. You can travel with them as long as you have the proper documents. We have 2 and definitely they will come with us wherever we go. OP, these tortoises grow very big, our bigger one has almost 50 kg, so you need appropriate environment for her. They like to wander around and dig. They are a long life commitment, seeing they get to 100yo. So please co sider carefully before adopting one!! edited by simoralu44 on 02/04/2015

Gold Souq-usually you see the posted signs with " We buy used gold" outside the shops. Beware, not having the receipt they will buy the gold only after 5 pm, that is the rule. You have to have an id with you (passport or Emirates ID). Gold price is quite low now, so don't expect more than 70-75 dhs/gram for 18k. Even less. edited by simoralu44 on 15/03/2015

Been living in the area for the last 9 yrs and love it. It is NOT in the middle of nowhere at all, has lots of shopping centres and malls and small shops, Rshidyia metro station is close, reachable by bus -directly or by taxi, buses-plenty and very convenient, gyms/parks/medical centers in the area, so yes, it is a nice and quiet place to live!!!

Cant believe this... so is it true?... i thought it was just a conspiracy theory... someone told me a month or so back that telecommunication companies will make the internet service slow so that people would upgrade their packages for better service... i too have been facing this problem and thought it was just my laptop giving me trouble... maybe there was some truth to the story after all... what you say? I'm on a data package on my mobile...maximum data...so nothing to do with an upgrade..slow, slow, slow

I don't think is unfair...they don't vet their drivers, they don't pay for a license (like the taxi companies), I have no clue about their insurance, I would NOT trust them here or in Europe.

Happened to me just couple of weeks ago...and no, no one stopped and no police came! Road assist is one option (through insurance better, no credit cards here as we don't want them) or just have a number of a guy with a tow truck...they practically work 24/7!!

We-re far from being the dreamy type but in almost 9 years we never had an incident!!! I know, never say never...but to see a burglar climbing a 3m high fence, the road facing one, in a residential area with many people at home during day-locals mostly, going through this trouble just be met by two 140 pounds dogs with big mouths and sharp teeth...wish to see that!!! Seen it done! First they poison you dogs then break into your house. NEVER leave your property unlocked. In the holiday periods break-ins are rife in certain areas and don't think there aren't inside jobs going on either. Most break-ins I heard of happened in the gated communities...where is easy access to the main door, walls are almost not there...and to poison my dogs...difficult,as they don't eat from no one else but us and to they'll be on you before you know they're there...but as you said, NEVER leave your doors unlocked :) :)

I just want to answer the question that OP asked directly. No, 1000 is not nearly enough for the expense you mention. Here are my rough calculations: Fitness classes: average 50 and 100 dhms per group class x twice a week - 650 dhm a month Breakfasts (to network, meet friends etc): on average 70 dhms(15-20 for a coffee, 30-50 hot dish, tip) x twice a week - 600 dhm a month Lunches (to network, meet friends etc): depending where you go, but unlikely to go to a food court, so say 100 on average x twice a week - 850 dhm a month Haircut - 200 dhms I haven't even mentioned nails or make up or presents or clothes and the total is already at 2,300. So if your situation is such that you get a certain budget from your DH - you need to ask for more than 2000. The words "get a certain budget from your DH" just make me cringe!!! We are in 21st century...marriage is a partnership, where both husband and wife are EQUAL, no matter who earns more...so they get to decide together on their joint income and expenses...se getting a fixed budget from DH is a big NO NO!!!!
