The ones in C4 work just as well as the ones in the Smokers Centres, they sometimes just look better ;) And the tobacco is the same. I'm not a smoker of any kind but hubby is a sheesha "master" let's say and he said all is in the way you prepare the sheesha! :) :)

So true! I hate going to Dubai mall, never lost my car there but I still find it useful. Me blonde thinking now :) Me too, I tend to use the mobile camera to take the picture of row number or mobile app to locate my car. I do the same, eventhough I have good memory...but you never know.

More affraid of not being able to find the exit...... Whoever designed that parking needs to bu hung, drawn and quarter (and i don't mean metaphoircally) I know is kind of convoluted, but for me finding a place is the major problem, the exit I can defo find! :)

Yes there's at carefour but also at dragon mart and def for cheaper there. I have to say is not that much of a difference in what sheesha and tobacco concerns between DM and C4. As I said, hubby is a sheehsa smoker and he's just told me this. :)

Hubby bought his sheeshas in C4 and he says you can also ask the guys that prepare sheesha in the sheesha places! As I saw, the preparation is a full ritual and the most important thing! :) :) Hope this helps!

Sorry I cannot recommend a compound but I can answer to other questions: 1. Drive to airport, max 10 min to terminal 3, add other 3-4 min for terminal 1. As for Maktoum Intl, takes more, maybe 45-60 min. 2. Plenty of Places to shop: huge Mall- Mirdif City Center, Uptown Mirdif, Arabian Center, Etihad Mall, Festival City mall, all in the range of 5-10 min drive. Plus other small shops almost everywhere. In Uptown is Spinneys, where you can find p**k meat. Also another Spinneys nearby and another in Bin Sougat Centre, not so far away. 3. Rashidyia metro station 5-6 min drive, convenient, huge parking. Take some info from www.dubizzle.com and then you really have to drive around. Many lovely compunds, seen few where friends lived. Depends on your budget as well.

Both areas are lovely, I just love Taksim and we have a flat in the area, but I would advise Sultanahmet due to recent events and unrest.

UpTown Mirdif is a concentrated around the shopping/living complex, with shops and apartments/small villa compound type! While Mirdfi is a far larger area that includes Mirdif City Center, Villa development called Shorouq and apartment development called Ghoroub plus numerous private villas, independent or compounds and town houses. Is not as "glamorous"as Marina (people say) but is easy to live in, has easy access to everywhere in Dubai, easy access to metro, schools and kindergartens, parks, and a lot of other facilities. As for the plane noise, you easily get used to it, depends on how sensitive you are to noise. In some areas, true, the noise is worse than in other areas, but all in all, thousand of people live here and all is well. I drive through would give you all the answers! Feel free to ask more questions, we live in this area for many years. :)

Thank you all ladies for your concerns and advice! Thing is Diva didn't have any problems until recently and she is on the same food since the beginning! We don't give her any home cooked food, just dry food combined with Butch or Simba and she had no skin issues! We-re using now the medicated shampoo prescribed and we have a Monday appointment with Safa vets, although our regular vet contacted us today via email and we might just give them another chance :) :)!

the only vet within Mirdif is Al Safa (unless I missed something, which is entirely possible). Does that mean that you have been using them and that they are the ones that you are not happy with? If this is not the case, then I find them to be very good, although they are expensive. I think it also depends which vet you see on the day. No, my post was not about them. We used to take our older dog Dutch to them, they saved his life, but then we had to switch to the other vet in the post, as our young lady HAD to be treated by them in her first year of life. We were pleased with the vets mentioned in my main post until this last visit so we will go back to Safa Vets. Their prices are not as steep as thought! I don't want to mention the name of the vets that let us down...some of you have them in high regard, as we also had them until now!

A 2BR in Silicon Oasis, or Al Warqaa is 80-90,000/year, hence 6,700-7,500/ month. Then is DEWA, Etisalat/Du, fuel/metro, that will lead to approx 2,000- 2,200/month. Not everybody here lives in villas, yes, the so called "cheap apartments" as another poster derogatory said, are really great with 1300-1600 sqf to live in!!! We're a family of 2 and we spend around 2,500-3,000/ month in groceries, mainly C4 shopping and seldom Spinneys and we don't miss a thing. Yes, we do have a big villa but no, we do not have a full time maid, not compulsory. I remember raising 2 kids, having a full time job and no maid. Yes, was difficult but no, not impossible, so why does a maid become a MUST here, I don't get it. Anyway, my opinion. So, my dear OP, I don't see it impossible/frustrating/ a stretch to get by on you hubby's wage for the beginning! And living the Dubai life doesn't mean necessarily every Friday getting stuffed at brunches, endless nights out (difficult with a 2yo anyway) or unnecessary excesses! Living a normal life, with family outings, and so many un-expensive things to enjoy here, apart sun and sand, my opinion is you can live decently with that salary and if you get employment, save as well. If you lived in Cairo, then here is not worse than there, and I do love Cairo, heat won't be an issue and you'll have no cultural shock either! Not everybody here live on high horses or the clubbing Dubai dream, so in my opinion, you'll be fine!

I can't open the link, but your post suggests you are very happy with the results :) Can I ask which product you used? I can see which brand it is but which product?? Thanks Gemm, I didn't mention any brand as I don't want people to think I'm advertising it. I used a serum, and if you want more details, email me at my username here at gmail.com :)

Hi, Can anyone recommend a treatment for under eye wrinkles? Laser/peels etc, not interested in botox or fillers. I'm not expecting miracles just something that will improve my face and skin tone. I have read threads about Rebecca Treston at Euromed, any recommendations would be great. TimTam, I just finished a treatment with a serum and is amazing! If you want more details, email me at my username here at gmail.com :) :) For me did miracles, no injections, no botox, no fillers!

ARancher, is not a cream what I am using, but a serum, in individual vials that can be used within max 3 days! So, has nothing to do with a cream...and the results I see on my face...especially at the eyelids...I have to say I am amazed :) :)

Thanks for feed back. Celtic, your advice is perfect and thank you for it! I decided to go for this 20 days treatment serum, a dermato-cosmetic, with filler-botox like effect. So will keep you posted if it works, as an alternative to needles scared ones :) :)

Thank you Fairy...basically will be over 3000 AEd to "iron"a bit my whole face and will last, but not necessarily, about 3 mths! Hmmmm, I will give a try to the serum first, no injection and will see how it is and will share with you. I hate shots, so serum it is. It is around 2000 dhs, supposedly with botox and filler like effect and would last 3 months. edited by simoralu44 on 26/12/2013 edited by simoralu44 on 26/12/2013

such fab news - the City is buzzing...the UAE Formation team flyng over the house, an extra day off school and everyone waving their flags...an amazing place to be right now... To all the moaning minnies sat at their computers whinging about the rents increasing and the cost of living going up - get out there and experience this..enjoy this wonderful, vibrant place - it's a beautiful day !! :D edited by Doubting Thomas on 28/11/2013 THANK YOU for writing this! I fought the "whining" lot last evening! They should live the life now and stop whining and enjoying the moment!! We'll all deal with what ever comes as we dealt in the last years. But maybe we don't whine because we are here for long run, with good or bad, not just for the duration of a job contract! :) :) :) And yes, I'm European and no, am not rich or living the high life!

Arabian Business: "6.55pm: Apparently you don’t have to vote for one of the four bidders. You can also say “Don’t know.” Why would you do that?! Imagine flying all the way from Papua New Guinea to say “I don’t have a clue.” Anyway, Dubai Media Office suggests we really will get a result in the next few minutes. The general vibe in Paris is that Dubai and Izmir are leading the first round, but that’s just speculation. The general vibe is also that Brazil will be out in Round One. So far, the best information we have is that 131 countries have voted out of 168. Put the kettle on. "

Arabian Business: "Some people are suggesting the numbers are so close there is some kind of recount going on. I don’t think so because the voting is electronic. Unlike FIFA, you can’t make it up. But we also hear that the 4 bidders are being told the result first before its made public. So if you see Sheikh Ahmed doing a moonwalk, you can assume things have gone well."
