Depends on what you use your phone for. I use my BB (Q10 with actual keyboard although the Z !) is pretty cool too) for business and I couldn"t be happier! The OS is a real improvement and the connection to the BB subscription is cheap and is done in an hour. For the "coolness" factor I have Galaxy S3 and I love it: for the large screen, the apps (although the BB apps are not bad either if you"re patient to look for them), the camera..etc. As for me, I would never buy iPhone-sorry iPhone fans,is just me. :)

What about takeaways? Are these restricted to only evening deliveries during Ramadan? For these usually shops open after lunch or bit later, but depends on each restaurant/coffee shop.

Or maybe they are family members and they couldn't live them behind. I wouldn't think of leaving Dubai without our dogs and now the tortoise :) But I do agree, Dubai is not ideal place for huskies. edited by simoralu44 on 08/05/2013

OP, don"t start driving here being afraid! If you go on the road like this, is worse. Just go out and drive. BTW, automatic gearbox will be so much easier than manual ( I drove 22 years manual). Yes, you will get lost, yes, you"ll find a lot of bully drivers, yes, will be a bit difficult at the beginning but practice makes perfect and you"ll be fine!

I know am gonna ge a lot of negative comments on my post but...here it is: What is Dubai missing? Is missing residents that try to enjoy and embrace what they have instead of complaining all the time of how better their home country is. We miss things we had home but we also have plenty here,so let's enjoy them. That doesn't mean Dubai is perfect, but is a young city with a lot going on so constructive suggestions are welcomed!

@ Barbiedoll - referring to the card I was talking about - LoadN Shop from MAF @ A Rancher - they can be topped up at C4, takes 2 min, you can top up with cash. The NetCard cannot be topped up unless you have the LoadNShop to transfer from. Ah, and transfers between MAF cards is easy and immediate As for the customer service, really good. Same happenedto me on a Friday evening and I received email immediately and they even asked for my mobile number and permission to call and explain, as it was 11pm. Thumbs up MAF!!

Hi Simoralu44, Most of the cost was covered by my insurance as I had pain and swelling, but I didnt have a visible vein. I dont think they do what you had done anymore as I thought this was what I was having done, but I had no stitches just a little plaster where they went in! The cost I was quoted was between AED 15k and 22k, the main costs out of my pocket is the ultrasounds. I guess it depends on the medical insurance you have, I have a 10% co-payment so Im sure Im up for some more at the next appointment. I dont care how much it costs as I am so happy with the outcome, I dont have a "cankle" anymore and my fat foot is almost non-existent, seeing as I am a shoe girl i am a happy camper. Thx a lot for the info. I know things changed in the last years and hope all will be easier. Mine show but don"t hurt that much now. I know what you mean by fat-foot, or leg in my case. I love high heels and they were not forbidden as long as I do "t stand too much on my feet. Walking is ok. Thx again.:) edited by simoralu44 on 06/05/2013

I've done it 16 yrs ago, lasted 2 hrs and left me with 13 barely seen stitches. General anesthesia and no laser, regular procedure. Had more than one vein removed, including the saphenous vein. Stitches removed after a week, moderate movement till then, after 2 weeks as was up and running as usual. Nowadays laser procedures are less invasive and makes things easier. I also need to do a check-up as I have again veins showing againg and my leg is slightly aching sometimes. Littleone, may I ask what was the cost of the procedure. I understand if you choose not to share :) :) PS bblue got your message,it's ok!

I never said that I had a hearing! Please ready carefully. I have discussed with them. You cannot discuss things with the rent committee, they are the body that have legal jurisdiction to preside on decisions about real estate matters. They sit formally in the evenings in the Municipal Chambers and hear disputes between LLs and tenants over real estate matters. You might have sought advice from RERA. But that is a whole different body. They do not have legal jurisdiction and are just there to "give advice" that may or may not be upheld in court. Actually you can. Outside the evening sessions, they have office hours in the mornings, where they try to find amicable solutions in the conflicts between landlords and tennants and where they offer advice to different matters related to the rental contracts. Don't want to contradict anybody, I just talk from own experience. They were very helpful and always willing to give advice. Posted this as info for these seeking advice there! :) edited by simoralu44 on 05/05/2013

Just checked online statement (very easy and prompt)...only charge is 5 aed for top-up, no matter the amount> No extra charge for inactivity. No charge for on-line payments or card purchases. No idea about cash withdrawals fees though :) One perk, when C4 is crowded I get to go at the counter where only Najm card are allowed and which is usually free :)

Last year in Sugust we took a leap and started doing our garden and despite all the pessimistic opinions our garden thrived...we planted bougainvillea, washingtonia, desert rose, frangipani, lemon tree, pommegranate, fig, banana trees, canna lillies, and a 3 m date palm. Even the landscaper was skeptical but we convinced him to do it and now all is great. Is still not that hot now, especially with all the cloudy weather lately, give it a go and try the nurseries, ask for Suhail at California garden (hope the name is correct) and he will advise you. My opinion, buy the plants and not the seeds.

Hi ladies Not being much of a gardener and moving from our lovely garden apartment, can anyone advise what would be good for tubs for our terrace areas?? And if possible any recommendations where to buy from?? Best bet is to go to the nurseries in Warsan, off Academic city road. The guys there know what to recommend.

I am looking for anywhere that sells bags of soil and seeds. Any types of flower seeds really. Nothing fancy. Any help would be really appreciated. :) Closest are: ACE in Festival city, think also C4 has. Best bet is at the nurseries in Warsan, you pass Dragon Mart coming from Old Emirates road, big round about right on Academic city road and next roundabout you take left to Warsan and the you'll see the nurseries on left hand side.

Hi all, Can anyone tell me where can I get Visa prepaid card here? Hi, check www.maffinanceprepaid.com. The LOADnSHOP works like a normal debit card, for payments (in shops, online or connected to PayPal account) and ATM withdrawals. Available at any ENOC, EPPCO, Zoom, Al Fardan, Al Ghurair, and Micro and can be loaded easily at any ENOC, EPPCO, Zoom, Al Fardan, Al Ghurair, Micro and Carrefour, balance available instantly when I loaded in C4. PS I know I said I will never post here, but as I still read the forum it is a pity not to lend a helping hand.

OMG...real rain, not just droplets. My hubby went out with the cam to tape the rain! :O And thunder...loud bang...Hope we won't have any water in the house as usually happens here. Our puppy has no idea what is rain, she's confused. Both doggies are cuddling up next to us scared of thunder...:D Hope will go on for a while...

oh no S44, sorry to hear that. Don't think I will risk it then, I want to have it for Christmas. Thanks again. At Karama the guys were very nice and helpful, they advised next time to put the PO Box no. and phone number on the parcel so, if the parcel is too big for the PO Box, they will call and advise about it. So, no home address is enough! I thought that, going through customs, can be easily found, but I was wrong!

It is illegal and I too had to give a blank security cheque to an international bank here when they forced me to take a credit card while opening my account. 3 years later, I came to know the rules and contacted central bank and they helped me get my cheque back. Central bank will ask you most probably to visit their offices but you can also get it done by calling and lodging an online complaint on their website http://www.centralbank.ae/en/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=151&Itemid=123 Take your cheque back in order to avoid any misuse from their part. Do you have a link to the la/rules/regulation that states is illegal for the banks to ask for a blank cheque? What if they fill it in and try to cash it? edited by simoralu44 on 27/11/2012 edited by simoralu44 on 27/11/2012

I like manicure to be different. Back home I used to have it done on a regular basis with the so called nail art (not that bling as in your link unless for a special event). Here I hardly find a place to do this...so I got myself into it: have my manicure done at salon, no nail polish then I create at home :D Am still interested how much that costs though. :)
