the water pump sounds like it's going to explode in the garden. Is it OK to give the dog the dishes to wash after supper? Only if he rinses them after! :) :D edited by simoralu44 on 09/10/2012

Actually we got her through Great Danes in Dubai. She's not the only one we have, we have our boy, he's 7 and a half and living in Dubai all his life. Danes a mostly indoor dogs, so the weather doesn't bother him too much. During summer he's mostly in the house but now the weather starts to be enjoyable and the like to be more and more outside in the garden. If you want more details, Contact me and we can talk more about the "gentle giants'!! Oh my goodness Simor, I had no idea there was a 'Great Danes in Dubai'. I've kept an eye out for them and I've never seen one since moving here (being walked etc). You're a lucky lady having two of those beautiful creatures in your life :) We are really blessed!

If someone wants to bring in a puppy then fine, but at least do the research beforehand. As I said and breeder which would simply take a persons cash and fly a baby animal half way round the world without question is NOT and ethical breeder! They should put you through the ringer as any shelter would to adopt a dog! And I already said there are some small dogs in the shelters here, so it's worth looking. Also as I stated before, having your heart set on one breed is find, but many many people go and take a look at other animals and come home with the complete opposite - you just never know! All I ask is that people consider it as an option and go and have a look! Going in blind is pure ignorance. I have to disagree with you with the procedure of reputable kennels. They DO screen you thoroughly before sending you the puppy. And if your heart is set to a certain breed ( like is ours), we wouldn't end up taking any dog just to offer shelter as we think dogs need a home, not just a place to be. But your right, OP should go and have a look, who knows!! PS I do know how many of the pet shops and brokers operate here ;)

My worry is we all discuss experiences we have had at salons, schools, restaurants etc - will this board now be seen as evidence for defamation if the company gets wind of it? Depends on the way you describe your experience I think. Even this can be subject to such a "slander"case. Just my opinion.

They'll be discussing this on Emirates 24/7 tonight. Defamation is defamation. If it is a fact then it is a fact. In this case, the school are arguing defamation on the grounds that it was not a fact, rather an attempt to directly damage the reputation of the school. If the mother could prove it happened she'd likely win. How can poor mum prove? Will be the case she said-school said. And she's a woman, and you know how is with women testimony in court....here. Unless she can find other parents who have same claim...

No, child abuse is putting your child in (and I duck) a UK or all Blacks rugby jersey when green and gold (sorry SA, the ORIGINAL green and gold) Australia jersey will encourage growth as a responsible [b'>winning[/b'> human being. Please AmyAus, surely you must realise that when it come to rugby, 'winning' and 'Australia' is an oxymoron? When did Austalia last hold the Bledisloe Cup? 2003. Yes, that's a 10 year winning streak for the mighty All Blacks. All blacks rulz!!! BTW, we just hijacked the thread :D

haha! I think my favorite thread was a question of moral superiority based on how many times a week towels were washed Ha, that was me! I certainly don't think I'm morally superior to anyone based on how often I wash my towels. What, you missed the memo - we're supposed to wash our towels [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=171768'>everyday[/url'>! :-P The "do you wash the chicken gate or do you rinse the dishes. First of all, Rent commitee is the one you should address to. They are really helpful and will indicate you how to deal with the landlord. Mr. Mansour is very hlpful. Your landlord should have given you at least 30 days notice and this is your second year he has no right to raise the rent. Notice has to be given i WRITTEN! just go to rent committee and they will advise you.

simoralu - please, please call Laura at posh paws - she has 2 5 month old bitches, both pure black danes, lovely natured. They need a home. They are on her farm at khawaneej at the moment and are great with people and kids and cats, and all the other animals there....050 458 8635 - Laura Glanfield... edited by Kaye McIntyre on 03/10/2012 Will do although our preference goes to a male as we have also male now. But thanks for the info anyway, will call. We already spoke anyway with the breeder where our boy came from in Europe as he is pure breed with a very loooong pedigree and champions in the family. :) This way we are sure the puppies are healthy and clean. PS Spoke to Laura and we'll see, we might give it a try! :) edited by simoralu44 on 03/10/2012 Update : little one is visiting! So far so good...:)

I think you will find some majlis cushions for a good price in Satwa as well. IS that what you're looking for? Just the cushions to set up on the ground and against your back? TO be honest, I've not seen them in Dragon Mart. I've had my majlis done in Dragon Mart. It is stand GBN07, on the right side as you come from the main entrance, not on the central isle, is a bit behind.

As a dog owner, I can say that both ways are right. The OP is in her right to want a certain breed and look for it, and she's not wrong wanting to buy one if necessary. On the other hand, adopting a pooch is a noble thing to do but might not be suitable for everybody. We adopted our boy, we were looking for a poodle and we ended up with a great dane :) :) Now we want to have another dane and we look into bringing one from a known kennel in Europe. And we will NEVER think leaving here without our baby! So OP, look into both options, weigh the pros and cons and go for what you feel comfortable with.

Is one of the companies at the front row. Has good offer and good prices. Better to wait till next week, he said ia still too hot to plant yet.

I have a recipe with beetroot in it: Smoked mackerel potatoes, eggs, beetroot, mayo. Put a layer of smoked mackerel, mayo, cover with boiled potatoes cut in small cubes, cover with mayo and ornate with hard-boiled eggs cut in slices and with beetroot. Is delish, trust me. And does have beetroot, no? :D ;)

Its not just me http://www.guardian.co.uk/notesandqueries/query/0,,-185700,00.html From another forum Posted 23 April 2004 - 02:20 AM I have been waiting for some time for someone to start this thread - not having the guts to do it myself, of course. Dishwashing in the UK has been my one and only bugbear since moving here over 11 years ago. In my opinion (and this is only an opinion) there are only two ways of washing dishes by hand; the right way and the potentially harmful way. The right way is naturally the way I learned when I was young; you turn on the tap, grab a soapy sponge or other implement such as a bottle filled with sudsy liquid with a brush on the top, rinse dish under FLOWING water, scrub away debris, then rinse dish under FLOWING water again. This seems to make sense as all of the potentially harmful things (eg; raw chicken juices, festering dairy products, and other bits of untasty ****) are jettisoned away in a stream of water and down the drain. During my time in the UK I have seen the above exercise in dish washing performed but, much to my horror, I have also seen the following: Fill unclean sink with water and put plug in. Watch as grease and other unnamed bits from the sink floats to the surface of the basin. Fill with washing up liquid until sudsy. Dip dish in sudsy sink water and rub with a sponge (or sometimes a greasy cloth! Yes, I have seen this and it almost makes me retch to remember it). Put dish on side with suds (and other crusts) still clinging to it. The above, mind you, is a very bad case of 'unwashed dish phenomenon'. You can usually recognise it because the next time a glass is handed to you its greasy and plates always retain a bit of what was eaten last from them. Being an historian, I have come to the conclusion that this indeed is a very old method of washing dishes that predates running water. Water was collected from the pump or standpipe in a bucket and brought into the scullery where dishes were done on site. It also predates common understanding of the workings of bacteria or food handling. As with many ancient and august institutions in the UK, this method of washing up dishes remains, regardless of advancements in the field (such as the additon of hot and cold running water which flows directly into the sink and the widely put about knowledge of what causes stomach upsets). My dear husband still lapses from time to time. Just yesterday I picked up a 'clean' mug where my lipstick still decorated the rim and a gentle stain of coffee was still apparent on the inside. I realise that I may have opened an a pandora's box here - but since the main objective behind this thread was to dispell cultural food rumours; not all dishes are washed this way in the UK. Some people are fortunate enough to have dishwashers. Edited by Hallie, 23 April 2004 - 02:37 AM. I can only say ... WOW!!!

The dishes is definitely not just her, its a european thing. We took a motorhome across western Europe and i was shocked at how everyoe washed their dishes in the common ktchen in the camp grounds. I saw this in switzerland, germany, austria, italy.... And other europeans on holiday there do this. Out dirty dishes in soapy water in the sink, take it out and wipe with cloth.....ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Wow, you cannot just say "it's an European thing" just because you saw this in the COMMON kitchen of a CAMP GROUND! I have put the registration into this and nothing came up. Where would I find the RTA to check this, am I able to call them and get them to run a check to see if this is a figment of Europcar's imagination? Really hoping it is resolved as don't want to waste a day driving around Dubai trying to resolve this as I have two young children. Will threaten the lady tomorrow from Europcar that I am going to the RTA for proof of this supposed offence! Depends where you reside, there are several RTA centers.

Yoy can check if your car has a traffic fine at this link! http://traffic.rta.ae/trfesrv/public_resources/ffu/fines-payment.do?switchLanguage=en&noCache=1341882650660 Just put in your number plate. If yjere is a fine and you are 100% sure is NOT yours, you can go to RTA and make a complaint. If it is a radar fine, they have the photos even. Good luck with it! Does this work for rental cars, also? I would have black points on my licence if I did everything they claimed I did. It should work. why not, is a Dubai number plate, true?

we checked for fines and the guy at the rental place said the fines are removed once they are paid . If they paid, they should have the receipt with the fine number. You can still inquire at the RTA with it.

I would definitely recommend AlRuknAlAkhdhar Gardens Designers, 05663176080 for garden maintenance. Owners are agricultural engineers and the team is very good and hard working. They actually take care of our huge garden and we are very satisfied with them. For garden design I also recommend Afrah Al Wadi Landscaping, they did our garden and we are pleased. They do also maintenance work but mostly in AR. Try Shihab 0557899337.
