That's weird - maybe it's your browser configuration. Oh, now when I click on my link below, I get "bad request". For some reason, I was on the Etihad UK site and followed the left-hand link which said "luxury coaches". Anyhow, Squeeks has given you all the info you need now - have a good trip :)

Explain what you explained in your original post, that you took a drop in salary when you arrived from the USA (give your last salary there as justification, maybe?) in order to gain UAE experience, now you have it, so you are definitely worth double what you are currently being paid. I wouldn't embroider the truth as you will be up the creek without a paddle if they ask to see your salary slip.

It may not be as complicated as a keylogging software. Some browsers have the option to automagically save passwords, she needs to find that in her browser/email program (Tools>Options>Security>Passwords - or something similar) and delete all her passwords.

Unless it's an extra-special car that can't be purchased in the US, I would imagine it wouldn't be worth the hassle and expense of bringing it up to US standard and importing it, which is possibly why you've had no experienced responses - also, anyone who's left Dubai for the States is probably not going to be on this forum any more.. edited by simpleasabc on 19/01/2013

Apparently, almond flour is made of ground blanched almonds, so yes, they are the same thing. You can find ground almonds on the dried fruit and shelled nuts shelves.

We actually have 3 routers in our villa, upstairs, living room and study, as you said the walls are so thick, it makes the reception weak. Excuse my ignorance, but how does that work - are they all attached to the same number or do you have three different lines?

Apparently, if you have an "n" router and all your wi-fi machines work on "n", you can get a booster for your router which works wonders. Unfortunately, most of our machines are too old to work with "n", so we haven't found a solution.

Are you willing to let it out on a weekly basis during the tourist season? There would be more wear and tear, but in the summer months, you would no doubt recoup your costs. You would have to refurnish it for a holiday let, but it might be more worth it in the end. A mansion flat would have that mysterious factor for tourists which locals wouldn't necessarily appreciate :) That being said, I know a good, though expensive, property manager in SW4, if you need the contact :D (No, I am not related, he looks after my property ;) )

Well, the Grauniad certainly agrees with you, skipbj: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2013/jan/11/in-praise-of-seville-oranges :D Now I'm racking my brains to remember if it was indeed Spinneys where I saw them, or whether it was in Waitrose in London last week. This may sound daft, but we got a potty which was a miniature toilet, made of plastic. She got used to sitting on that and it made the transition to the real toilet a doddle. She started "late", too, but she was perfectly happy with wet nappies, which didn't help :) We only worried when we were sending her to nursery where they expected children to be toilet-trained - being with other children was a huge help and she never looked back after her first couple of days there.

All lovely suggestions, but honestly, not particularly cheap in July :( Just back from London, where a bottle of coke costs 3 times as much in Sainsbury's as it does in Spinneys.

I always used a portable car seat, it fitted easily and safely across the top of the shopping trolley. I remember grocery shopping in Geneva, chatting away to my few-month-old baby, as I did, and a young new mum with a baby asking me if it was allowed to talk to babies the way I was talking to mine (talking about what I was buying, how much it cost, etc, etc) :) Made Oi larf :)

Quick question, with the crowd I forgot to ask. I bought a winter coat right before Christmas at Debenam's and now it is about 225 Dhs. off. Do they do price adjustments here? edited by norak on 04/01/2013 There's been a similar discussion on here before. It seems to be an American thing to expect to get a refund of the difference on a purchase made before the sale has started. Debenham's is a British store and as such, I don't think they would do this as it is not the custom in the UK.

Apparently, according to the driver of the last taxi I hailed here, about six months ago, in the past few months, the taxis have changed their system. Whereas before, if anyone was in the vicinity of a customer, they were dispatched there directly by the central switchboard. Nowadays, the central switchboard asks taxis to go to an address and if they don't want to go there, they don't. I didn't understand the logic, but it does explain the way that lots of us are having trouble getting taxis to pick us up from our home. We used to call and a taxi would usually arrive within 15 minutes - nowadays, nothing happens when we call and we have to go out to the main Springs road to hail a taxi.

Unfortunately, here, like everywhere, some parents are too busy working and/or socialising to worry about where their kids are during vacations. They leave their kids in the charges of nannies and maids who are too scared to control them in case the kids complain about them and the maids/nannies loose their jobs. This is a problem of all affluent societies. Kids need their parents and need discipline and many don't see enough of either in my opinion. And even when children have their parents and discipline they can still be the ones who are doing the naughty things. Its the very nature of some of the wee beasties. edited by DesertRose1958 on 02/01/2013 I think you and I have been here before, quite recently, Desert Rose - when I say there are Shades of Grey, I'm not talking about a housewife in Brentford's badly-written best-seller ;)

Don't forget, it is not only the driver who is breathylized, and if you have guests staying with you, they are not covered by your drinks license. My husband will be driving and not drinking tonight; I will not be driving but was intending to have a drink or so to see the New Year in. If we are stopped, and my breathalyser test shows I've been drinking, what will happen (she asks, making sure she has the alcohol licence to hand)?
