Why don't you ask them directly? See "Helicopter Service" here: http://www.jumeirah.com/Hotels--Resorts/Destinazioni/Dubai/Burj-Al-Arab/The-Resort/Arrival-Experience/

How will that work - I thought if you did a return trip past the same gate within an hour, it was free? Also, aren't trips free if you go through Salik gates more than 5 times in one day, or did I dream it? Either taxis are going to be making nice profits or passengers at the beginning of the day are going to lose out.

Kids also need to know that there is no other viable option and that you aren't moving purely with the sole aim of ruining their lives, however much they place themselves at the centre of their universe (cf PhilipLarkin: http://www.artofeurope.com/larkin/lar2.htm).

There is a Ladies' Hairdresser in the Town Centre Spinneys Mall, but they are not my first choice - can't really say I'd recommend them, though I've seen people come out of there with lovely colour, cut and blow-dry so it's probably my fault :( Sorry, can't remember their name, but they are near the photo shop. <em>edited by simpleasabc on 29/12/2012</em>

CellFix on SZR will do it, I believe. Except they don't seem to exist anymore, I just tried to google them and came up with zilch. Sorry :(

I'm sorry, I don't know about the school buses, but perhaps you could try the head office of Gems on SZR: +971-4-3477770? Otherwise, have you tried contacting the school concerned? There's usually someone around during the holidays, if you can catch them..

Oh, Hilsbils, {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}. Thank you for coming back to talk, so sorry it's so sad for you. I'm afraid I've no concrete advice, but would like to tell you about some good friends of ours who took a while to realize that she was infertile and decided to try IVF long-distance, travelling back to England for the treatment, with Prof Robert Winston, no less. They did it a couple of times unsuccessfully and then took the decision they would not have children as such, since he didn't want to adopt and she doesn't argue. In place of children, they now each have their own "baby" - his is a Porsche and hers is a cat named Portia :) It is a long time now since this happened, but they seem content with each other and their babies. Hope this makes you laugh a bit, nothing else to say except more {{{{{{Hugs}}}}}}. Are you pleased overall to have moved back to the UK? (Don't answer if you don't feel like it.)

No problem, any of the big supermarkets will have everything you need in stock! You could either go the Aussie way and throw some prawns on the barbie, or maybe cook a lovely joint of roast beef, with all the trimmings including Yorkshires! Have a lovely time! <em>edited by simpleasabc on 24/12/2012</em>

Thank you for posting, Nippy, and well done for not being bullied into doing the wrong thing for you and your boys. Shame you have no proof your husband has got someone pregnant, so you could get him thrown into jail. Sorry if that sounds vile, but it's clear he's not going to support you and your children at all, so you might as well sock it to him if you can. Like Desert Rose, I would have loved to have seen his face when he realized he hadn't conned you. Bravo :)

Have you tried your local Spinneys? Spinneys in the Town Centre definitely sells them, they are shelved against the outside wall of the pork room.

Are Buspar and Xanax on the prohibited drugs list put out by the MOH? I shouldn't think there'd be a problem with the HRT pills though. One thing that strikes me is that given what I understand of the rules for residency here, you will not be able to retire here without difficulties, if at all, but I'm sure someone who knows more than I do about these things will be along soon.

One erring, abusive husband may be a louse, your child may have several lice in their hair, which are formed after the nits hatch.

Have you tried slathering her hair with creamy conditioner and combing the nits out that way? I can't remember at what intervals you have to do it, but it was the only thing that worked for us in the end. Took forever :(

I'd just go and ask, I'm fairly sure they all do it. You get the weight in gold at the day's rate for it, or you can ask them to make up more jewellery to the same value from it (or someone else's) melted down, I think.

Here is the link: http://www.khda.gov.ae/CMS/WebParts/TextEditor/Documents/FeeFrameWorkEnApril2012.pdf Go straight to the last page: Existing students: A school [b'>may [/b'>charge up to [b'>20%[/b'> of the school’s tuition fees as a re-registration deposit to confirm the return of existing students in the new academic year. This deposit should be deducted from the total tuition fees for the academic year in which the admission is being sought I find it outrageous. The letter from the school suggested the KHDA has introduced new regulations that impose these fees - but the KHDA has done no such thing. The KHDA make it permissable for the school to levy a re-enrolment fee, but they certainly do not make it mandatory. I am angry about the manner in which they characterised the message - do they think their parents cannot or would not read and understand the guidelines? I only find 10% for existing students, on that page, and 30% for new students. What I am I reading wrong? Anyway, the author of the letter should know that there is no capital on sincerely when you end a letter "Yours sincerely" and also since he is not writing to a named person, the letter should end "Yours faithfully". Inspires confidence, doesn't it :( Thank you for teaching me a new word, aevans_indubai - esurient, I love it :)

Thanks, everyone, for your empathy. Good news overnight is that they've given my mother medication to stop her convulsions, so she is now as peaceful and as comfortable as possible. The priest's been quite a few times over the past couple of weeks, as well, so she's ready to meet her God in Heaven.

Maybe you double-click every time you send your message, so it posts twice? This going to sound one-up-misery-womanship, but I'm feeling fed up because my mother is dying, suffering from fits, far away and I've been waiting all day for that phone-call :( You have every right to be cross with me for my unfair comment. <em>edited by simpleasabc on 14/12/2012</em>

Not that it matters, but in one place you say you got here in Jan 2012, and in another that you have been working in Tecom since Sept 2011. Good luck with everything, it sounds as if you may value your career more than your marriage and will be making your decision accordingly.

Remember the chap who recently died of dehydration in a South London hospital? Well, after the way my mother had been treated in the very same place earlier this year, I wasn't surprised to hear about this, which is why I really wish she had not been sent there today.

Ach, Lolacat, when I was there last week, she barely knew me, I will just be glad if bro gets to say goodbye, and I wish she hadn't been taken to that particular hospital, when she is already v well cared for in a nursing-home where she is known.

The difference is that this is NHS, not private. Anyhow, I sounded suitably deranged and hysterical and found out as much as I could from someone higher up the chain. Fortuitously, my brother is now on his way there from Canada, so soon there will be someone on the ground with her, thank Heavens.

I've been using this recipe by St Delia since the book came out, love it - you only mull it for 20 mins after the sugar has dissolved, on the stove, though, TB, sounds as if all the stimulation evaporated from yours :D http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/type-of-dish/party-food/accompaniment/christmas-easymulled-wine.html

Also, there's no guarantee as to how a child will turn out as an adult, and its probably why so many parents who've lived the hard work, love, sacrifice, guidance, perseverance and devotion, end up asking themselves why things may have gone wrong, and why their child turned out the way they did. And luck does come into it, but for me luck is another way to say 'nature'. edited by DesertRose1958 on 11/12/2012 Thanks for explaining my point of view better than I did, Desert Rose - at least you understood my meaning :)

It's a matter of luck how children turn out, don't beat yourself up if you don't live up to someone else's definition of perfect parenting. Do what works best for you and your children at the time and keep your fingers and toes crossed.
