Use google translate (automatically detect language) to find out which language you're in. Then try translating settings and language from English into that language and try and find the relevant words on your phone.

Thanks ladies ! Im going to Carrefore so im sure they will have one.. Now im going to have to try and figue out how to cook a jointed skinless goose ! didnt fancy trapsing around the shops on Christmas day ... but hey ho .. I had nigella lawson style greedy plan with christmas pudding fried in goose fat to eat with some squirty cream come midnight... no chance of that now ! :( I just saw the post about the oven .. cripes ! Well, if you find another goose, you can do it! Otherwise, I've got goose fat pouring out of the fridge if you want to pick it up from the Meadows!

The stuffed goose is finally in the oven (had to do a mercy dash to Spinney's at 6pm when discovered defrosted goose was off) but the recipe I'm using doesn't give timings for as small a goose as mine - it's 3.62 kg, which apparently is nothing in the goose world. Am cooking it for 30 mins at high temp, then reducing to 190 deg but have no idea how long it should be in for at that temp. Would 20 mins per lb be all right, do you think? <em>edited by simpleasabc on 24/12/2011</em>

Does it have to be new Simples? I could lay my hands on a used one if that's any good. it's not a sail boat but just a red rubber plastic boat (small). Or possibly a yellow one. No, MB, it's just a gesture, husbad v upset we can't afford a rubber dinghy this year, so need some sort of toy boat as a joke. Will get back to you tomorrow if I don't find one, thank you!

As a Downtown resident,i am prepared for chaos on nye, just like last year... I landed back from UK at about 9 pm that day and the taxi-driver only agreed to take me home as we didn't have to go down town to get there - we saw the queues and queues of vehicles trying to get to the Burj Khalifa and I was so glad I wasn't trying to get there!

Try the guys at 2blimitless....I used them and was really impressed. I'm a 30 something working gal but they do lots of stuff with kids and also teenagers etc....well worth talking tot hem. They have a website and Facebook page. Best of luck. I'll get back to you on that later next year. We are using them for our teen, but they are more "life coaches" than vocational/career counselling, I would say.

No, I'm not, though I've got my red cabbage and all the bits to go with it, and saucisse de Toulouse for some of my stuffing. The only chestnuts I've found so far are bottled and cooked with onions.. Still, haven't found my way to Mercato yet, will go tomorrow morning. Also having trouble finding a baby's bath toy boat. Looked in ELC and other shops but couldn't face the big ones at the Dubai Mall. I should not be allowed in Galeries Lafayette, either. It's oddly the one place which makes me homesick (for Annecy) at Christmas and it feels all wrong because the staff and customers aren't speaking French!

My favourite is ELP's "I believe in Father Christmas", it was playing constantly during my first Christmas vacation at university, when I was working at the Post Office sorting Christmas mail. Reminds me of fun times, even though it's essentially a sad song :)

If you want tickets for before the end of the year, I'd go on quickly as everything seems booked out - I tried yesterday and only managed to get 1 ticket for Weds 28th at 1pm. The batches are quite flexible within a quarter of an hour or so. Once you get up there, you can stay as long as you like. Unless you know Dubai very well, you need to take a map to work out what's what. Well, I did, and I still was lost, but that's my normal state.. If we weren't already booked, I'd be looking here: http://www.theaddress.com/en/article/festive-celebrations-at-the-address-montgomerie-dubai-1 but I'm not sure how booked up they are.. Food and atmosphere good for adults and kids alike. The other place we love is the Courtyard by Marriott up at the Green Community. Went there on Christmas Eve last year, bit quiet but still fun. Good luck and hope you overcome ex's bad vibes.

We were there at about 10 last night, not much going on as they were closing up. It was absolutely nothing like a Northern European Christmas Fair, but we have some brilliant photos of a huge Christmas tree silhouetted against the Burj Al Arab, with palm trees and the fake wind towers of the Madinat in the background. Only in Dubai :)
