Mmm, Ryan Reynolds...wouldn't kick him out if he turned up on my doorstep!!! There's also a kinda hot guy in the movie 'Morning Glory' (with Rachel McAdams) who's a bit of alright. Mark Ruffalo always appealed to my 'likes scruffy boys' side.... especially as the best friend in "Suddenly 30/13 Going on 30 (Great chick flick too, and very cute)

If you want a movie to watch that DH will sit through, but still has a nice looking man candy in it, try Captain America. Chris Evans, yes please!! :)

Lol... just reminded me how when Terminator 2 came out, my cousins & I watched it religiously. Every. Day. Of. The. Summer. Holidays. Our parents gave up trying to stop us from watching it because at least it shut us up & kept us from fighting with each other...!!! For all you BBC lovers out there, seriously, do yourself a favour and beg/borrow/steal the new version of Emma with Romola Garai & Johnny Lee Miller (Angelina's ex-hubby). I never thought anyone could top Jeremy Northam (yummo!) as Mr Knightley but Johnny does his own nice take on the role. Might be it's still on YouTube - it was mid last year...

Trigg, my comment about rivalry often being from women was based on my personal observations & experience. At most gatherings, ask any of the guys afterwards they will be totally unaware anything was "going on". i.e. will have no idea someone 'blanked' someone else until you mention it... ask the guys themselves more often than not they are happy to talk shop with each other, swap tips & advice and that's it... all the talk of 'so and so should have/should not have got u/g' is mostly (from my observation) on the side of the ladies... When I said some are more interested in lifestyle/family than u/g is what I meant the same as your comment that some just 'enjoy the ride'. I verrrrry rarely have seen men 'get into it' at a gathering about this kind of stuff.... it always seems to be the ladies who are on about it. For example, at one gathering another girl asking me what was 'wrong' with my (at the time) o/h because he hadn't done an uograde.... err, nothing, he was settling into a new town so wanted to wait. Later when I asked him how his night was, he said it was great, they talked about sports the whole time!! Basically, what I mean to say is, majority of the time the DH of the 'nasty ones' has no idea the DW is saying some of the things being said. Again, as I said, this is what I have observed. Obviously, there are exceptions. And just FYI, a good few of them are reading/doing the crossword/updating their manual. I'm sure it wasn't an insult, many of them do stuff like this to keep awake on those long boring night flights, not like us we can walk around and go chat to each other in different cabins, They're pretty much stuck where they are unless they get bunk rest!

Well results not too bad! tried that garlic prawn recipe, except with chicken instead of prawns. Turned out quite well (house mate stole some too so must have been pretty edible! ;)) Then tonight I had some small steak so made steak sandwich. Cook it so a little pink in middle On toast, put down sliced cheese (tonight was mozzarella, was fab!) to stop bread going soggy. then, steak. Wtih a little bit of salt/pepper. on top of steak, mustard pickles, sliced tomato & sliced gherkins. Serve cooked mushrooms & red onion either in or on the side. Soooo good! I had two, if I only ate one I would probably have put fries on the side :)

Ok I don't want to mess with my settings, but you should be able to do it here: Hover over the wireless icon in your toolbar at bottom of screen Click 'open network & sharing' Then to the left side click 'change adaptor settings' Somewhere in there you should be able to change/remove password. If you can't work it out I would try getting the store to explain it, maybe they have a support line? I know Sharaf do. Good luck!

Password stops your neighbours (or maid) moocing your wifi for free. You should be able to adjust the settings by clicking on the 'properties'. Depends if PC or Mac. Temporarily remove the passowrd, configure the new router then you should be able to put a password back on it. pperhaps the manufacturer website has a how-to on this? try google, i'm amazed at the stuff I can find out from there!

Weird. Must be different to what I got. I knew mine came from Qatar but it must have been cookies not deleted properly from computer (however I am very careful on public computers so suspicious that they were using kestroke software) As far as I remember it never asked for CC details etc, only things that Hotmail would already know. I like Facebook's method of asking you to identify people in photos. It would have to be a good friend to know all of them. However one downside is if it asks for an obscure work friend or some other you forgot was on your friends list- and trying to remember their name!

"pointy end" in that post meant got upgrade to Captain. Obviously someone else's DH wanted and didn't get an upgrade (or more like, the DW thought he should have got it) and their nose was put out of joint. More often than not it's the DW's not the pilots themselves that are at the cause of the rivalry... most often the men are aware of where they need to work on to be accepted for a promotion, most pilots are at any given point, working towards something else, be it a new type, an upgrade or whatever!

Have you tried to contact Hotmail on that link given? Hopefully your DH gave an alternative email when he signed up. Does he remember? If so, try to reset it using that address (i.e. email them form there- if it's on the system it should be able to be done using that address)

Hmm well getting something different to what they were told is an issue with the company, not with the other employees. No excuse for them to act as you describe. Pity they can't let you 'house swap' with someone else who wants what you have & vice versa, but then I guess that opens a whole other can of worms doesn't it!

I don't think we were talking about the logistics of it, only that DEC ALWAYS ALWAYS becomes a source of bitterness and controversy (either for the reasons you mention, or from jealousy of being passed over) While I agree that it seems unfair for FOs to be passed over, things have to be done to keep the schedule flying so DECs at times become necessary. I believe they only do it when absolutely necessary BECAUSE of the reasons you state. They have been holding off on it recently for that very reason. Go see trainign college churning out the upgrades at all hours of the night- there were sim sessions going recently as early as 3am!! However like in all jobs, there will always be that small percentage who are not, and never will be, ready for that next step. Some because of ability/attitude, others because they prefer less pressure and to keepa nice schedule/family life over an upgrade.

I found it quite amusing that IT/engineering would find flight deck living in their building an 'insult' or affront. Typically, flight deck get "better" acommodation then most so can't quite see what their issue would be? The ones that live in my building usually do so because of the location, or they are waiting on a villa, it's not like you really get too much of a choice anyway, so for them to be 'funny' for living in an aprtment is, as you say, just so "high school"!!!

It does depend on the item for Amazon. Toys should be fine- electronics is different. Try to 'checkout' with the item with your location as UAE- it will tell you if shipping to UAE is not permitted. If so, then Shop & Ship it.

Yes normally Hotmail will ask for either an alternative email address or to answer a question (given when you sign up) mine was recently hacked after using itnernet cafe in Qatar, I had to answer several questions but it was thing slike, first pet's name etc etc. Go directly to hotmail.com and try sign in from there. otherwise I think you can try this page [url=http://explore.live.com/hotmail-help-center'>link[/url'>

Lol... the parrots of course!!! I just remember my grandad having a sulphur crested cockatoo, he always disappeared for a week or so during certain months... if we left the cage door open he'd come back eventually. Later on we spotted him with a wild female cockatoo, eventually she started coming into his cage (we left the door open during the day as he'd come and go) and they settled down together!!! All voluntary on her part of course

Best to check with the embassy/consulate, I'm not sure all passports are able to be dual, it depends on the country. I had friends who were born o/s, became citizens, one had to give up the old passport the other didn't. As far as I'm aware, I don't think you can have a UAE passport and a foreign passport- but as she is born here maybe it's different.

Hmmm, could you take him to a gym for some kind of fitness training, to get him ready when he's older? maybe he'll find that the schedule & discipline isn't to his liking...? Or- maybe the gymnastics school has a boys' class. Tell him boxers need to be light on their feet and have good balance. He can go with his sister perhaps, then he doesn't have to feel left out. Not sur eif this is possible in the UAE, but at that age I don't see why it couldn't be done!

It might also be that as so far it's gottan a "no", if you give permission that he can do it later it might lose its attraction- kind of we want what we can't have!!! Definitely the idea to get him to do something else until he's old enough is a good one. Maybe something that will help with boxing later. I suppose if he's going to do it, might as well be with a trainer rather than in the yard with his friends or at school. At least he'd have proper technique.

Yeah was wondering the same thing.... then the upgrade thing occurred to me. What some people don't realise is that not all pilots are suited to be captains, and for some people that is a hard reality to swallow. Add in DEC's and the nastiness can be astronomical, because some feel that jobs are being 'stolen'.... Don't worry, it's just as b!tchy for the cabin crew as well. I actually prefer socialising with the pilots than most of the CC downroute as they tend to not get into all of that cr@p!!!

Back when I was a poor student I remember there used to be a site hwere you type in what's left in the fridge & it would tell you what to make- seemed to come up with something no matter how obscure!!! Normally I'm not huge on spending time cooking as I am generally home to sleep between flights, however wanting to make the most of the fact I've been home for 2 days and really shouldn't order in again!! ;)

True I think smokers & litterbugs shouldn't be allowed on the beach either if they don't pick up after themselves! I got all kinds of stares in the mall the other day when I dared to pick up my tray and take it to the cleaning station... yes there is a man there to sort the trays but my parents taught me to pick up after myself, least I can do is walk the tray over there! edited by SkyKitty on 07/02/2012

Pity they don't have a "dog license"- you go to some classes and the municipality decide if you are fit to take the dog in public or not as a responsible owner. If you don't pick up after the dog then you lose the license and not allowed to take the dog in public. I know some countries have this and seems to work well.

The cat can even do it's "business" on it and you just clean it up... then kitty gets to feel some grass... Yep take all dirty clothes and dump them on his side of the bed. Plus whatever other cr@p he leaves around the house. He'll move it if he wants to sleep :) Otherwise, have a basket and use it to put all the 'junk' in before you go to bed if you can't be bothered right then to do it- at least then the floor is clean and helps to make it look better. Empty the basket each morning while you watch crappy tv (or leave for maid if you have one- am guessing not, though it seems most of the DH's seem to think they do! ;))

If you get a kitten/puppy a) make sure you a re very very serious about keeping it for its whole life b) try to adopt from Feline or K9 Friends Pets are great for kids to learn responsibility, but if you can't take it with you when you leave... better to get something else. If she into "hands-on" things, how about Lego? I LOOOOVED my Lego at that age and still have great fun playing it with my little cousins. You can get girls' versions too that become doll houses etc... plus if she has a little bro or there are boys in the street she can still play together. I still have my Legos in a box at home for when my sister's kids stay.

True owners have a lot to do with it but comparing a cocker spaniel that bites to a pitbull that bites is like apples and oranges.. a cocker spaniel is unlikely to kill someone, a pit bull however.... I remember a case in Oz a number of years ago now where an old lady was attacked in her yard by 3 aggressive (forget the exact breed but staffy or pit bull) and literally mauled to death.... had it been other types I doubt she'd have been killed. I grew up with a docile Rotti living in our street, she wouldn't hurt a fly but we were still always told to be careful around her because you just never know as her breed is genetically predisposed toward wanting to hunt/bite etc... she did bite me once in the end, my fault for teasing her a bit but before then she had never showed aggressive tendencies at all.... another similar dog a few streets over later was put down for savaging a child.
