Perfectly reasonable. I'm not allowed to make calls/text/read at work, even if there's nothing to do for a couple of hours. Periodically re-writing the list every so often is a good idea, then you can keep what works and address what doesn't. You could let your maid know that you will do this every month/ 2 months for the benefit of you both so she won't feel like she is being picked on this once

Is it possible they''ve become unpaired from the console? It can happen so try to relink them it may not need repairs. You user manual has instructions on how to do it. Are they switching on at all? Also, could it be the sensor bar and not the remotes?

You may be right, he may be sensing something "off".... but it may also be him with the issue that' making him agressive and react in a way he normally wouldn't.. Is possible that Ches is ill and Ali is picking up on it, perhaps Ches' sister cat may not notice because they are related? Actually come to think of it, one of my sister's cats used to yowl vocally, pee everywhere, pee on her sheets when she left him alone etc... turned out he had a medical problem and was in pain and that was his way of letting her know something was wrong. But, with yours, one is yowling and the other is going everywhere.... very strange... <em>edited by SkyKitty on 21/01/2013</em>

I only mention blood tests because when I was young we had a beautiful, sooky cat that overnight became like a feral nightmare, scratching and biting us and jumped the back fence, running away. We saw him a few times after but could never get him to come near us... dad eventually managed to catch him and turned out he had some virus or something, I don't recall since I was little at the time but it was something medically wrong that just made hime 'crazy'... after he came home he was with us about a year before he disappeared one day, never saw him again (but he was an outdoor, roaming cat on a large property)

For everyone telling her to report him when she leaves Dubai, unless he is out of the country, he will be in big trouble and won't be making money to provide for the kids, how on earth is that going to help ANY of this?? As for the girl, she is not married, HE is... he is the only one that knows the full story, as you have all said, he has probably told her something different to the reality. In Dubai, it would be quite plausible that a couple whom would normally have divorced and live apart in their home countries to stay together in Dubai for kids/visa/house etc etc... so I don't think it's as wild a story as some make out. I actually know two people who did just this for a couple of years until they were financially better able to deal with going their separate ways, new schools etc... If he reads this, he will definitely know who you are witht the detail about buying the shoes and bag. Be careful.

Is it possible something is wrong with his sight, so he doesn't recognise his former friend? Hmm but that wouldn't explain why he does not go for the girl cat. Are they all 'fixed'?? Could be some kind of hormonal imbalance, did the vet do any blood tests?

He will likely find out at the interview. The salaries can vary within a grade depending on performance, experience etc etc... Minimum salary depends on a lot of things, ladies here can probably tell you more but it also depends on what the package is. Also depends if they cover all 3 kids or not (I know they definitely cover 2 for flight crew not sure about 3) Maybe a mother here can let you know

Is that the brand name? If you know what the ingredient is and how much of it is there, take that to the pharmacy and they should be able to tell you what it is. Brand names often differ between here and the US, UK, and Oz, but the ingredient should be the same. I've had really itchy skin the last two weeks or so as well, not my ezcema but just itchy, like I;ve been bitten. Wonder what it is?

Oh, also, if you didn't put the number when booking, or you joined after booking your flight, it won't automatically give the points since those flihts wouldn't have been linked to your account. That's something need to check with the call centre. Lots of people complain to me that they are "missing" points, but they have just signed up a little whie ago but booked months in advance the ticket. So, no way for the airline to associate that booking with the 'new' membership....

As far as I can recall, you won't get a pemanent card until you complete 2 return economy flights or 1 return business flight within a certain period of time... if you have, I would get in touch with them to check on the booking. If you go to Skywards.com, you can check the different waiting periods for points partners. Some of them can take up to 3 months to credit. Go there, try to register to use the site with your number etc, if it rejects your registration might not have got through for some reason. How did you enrol- if it was within the last couple of months, and you did it onboad, unless you have the fold-out booklet from te crew I'm not sure it would have been processed since the old paper form was stopped some time ago. Either way, try the web site and if no joy, give their call centre a try. HTH

Portuguese part is quite interesting, there's a large hill with a ruin at the top which makes for some good photos. When there we also visited a cute little temple there. Venetian was okay but the throngs of pushy shoving mainlanders on holidays annoyed us so much we only stayed a little while. Won $100 HKD though!! If you take a day trip you need a passport, also bear in mind some ferry companies only sell return tickets which are for a particular time. We had a one way ticket and figured we'd buy one going back whenever we wanted to leave. Got to 8pm and we were done, however the next available tickets were not until 11! Luckily we managed to get standby for a 9pm ferry and someone didn't show up otherwise we were in for a wait. So if you know when you want to go back probably best to find out if ticket is for a time slot or not.

C4/camping store/Adventure HQ Water canteen, wide brimmed hat, mosquito net for hat. a magnifying glass and a map, small satchel bag, closed in shoes and khaki pants with a white top. you coul stencil something onto it like a fake safari company name or similar... Or- Indiana Jane :) Coil some rope, hang it off a belt with a canteen and a hat, give her some braces and hang 'explorer-ish' things from them like plastic bugs and gold coins etc :) She could carry a 'trasure' (small cheap statue from Daiso or similar painted gold) ETA: If you want to make a treasure map or ancient scroll, use cold tea to 'dye' some thickish paper and draw 'mysterious symbols' on it... or for extra marks do actual ancient civilization stuff on it... I don't see what's wrong with teh odd check up for cleanliness/things in order etc. My employer reserve the right to inspect company accommodations at any time for any reason with or without notice given, so I think someone asking the maid to be present while they check a room in THEIR house is quite reasonable.

I'm sure all of you here know this, but need to be careful with putting bags on pram handles. I was in C4 once and caught a pram as it was tipping, loaded with bags on the handles and the parent had turned away to get something off a shelf. So maybe a better idea to get someone to help you. Am sure the grocery guys would love a tip (hopefully a) one is offered for being a 'personal shopper' and b) they are allowed to accept?)

Have you discussed with your nail technician? She won't know it hurts unless you tell her. I always have to tell them (if new place) that I am very ticklish so she must press harder when scrubbing etc... also, if she is pushing too much or doing anything that hurts me. 99% of the time problem solved :) You could also ask for a foot stool if they have one and you like the particular salon otherwise.

A lot of people say they seem to be sensitive to electromagnetic fields from tvs/computers/etc... I remember a friend who had difficulty falling asleep moved her bed away from the power outlets in the room and said that within a few days she was sleeping a lot better. Maybe a bit 'out there' but worth trying? Others swear by pointing their beds north, I laughed at this one a lot but tried it and it seemed to work? Something about the magnetics of the earth and the poles? Probably just a coincidence but have heard quite a few crew say they have tried this and it works...

Hi, I think the ground staff in Australia are employed through TOLL/Dnata, you could check their website and see if they have anything listed? Although in some locations Toll staff work for more than one airline or start on a regional (such as Alliance) I had a friend in Perth who applied she started out at domestic working as ground staff for Alliance and had to apply internally to work for Emirates. Since Alliance have a base in Adelaide it may be the same? Good luck

BusyBee, what I meant by 'many departments' was that all of them could have someone working there who is a thief, not just the airlines. Especially in certain countries where police/govt staf are *ahem* 'unreliable*... Sakhifa, yes if the scanner gets conflicting barcodes it will flag the bag and send it off to the side either for inspection or to the lost bags.... we have the same issue with crew baggage and they keep putting out notices for crew to ensure they remove the previous flights' tags... That's also why it's important to keep that sticker they put on the back of the boarding pass folder since it wil have the current tag number and they can try search by that. A lot of people chuck it and then have no reference as to what their number was

Sanddy, if your flight leaves its destination at night then usually they do serve breakfast as the last meal, since its assumed that most people sleep on the flight so it 'would' be breakfast time for them on their body clock time... I notice this mostly happens with the US flights which land in the evening Dubai time... when it was different I believe lots of people complained because they 'didn't want two dinners'... *shrug* guess it's one of those things that won't be changed until enough people mention it. So far, no one really seems to mind it so I guess it will stay..? Back to the original topic, insomniacs in the house will b me tonight. Had a 'housework day', fell asleep on the sofa reading a book at about 5pm and just woke up, so that's tonight done with then!! :/

Second not using the metatonin. Gave me heinous bad dreams (as in, sleepwalking, smashing things in my sleep to due nightmares, hitting my O/H while asleep as I thought he was an intruder) I would avoid if possible. (I think it is banned here anyway) I had some success with Valerian, but only if I took it when absolutely needed. Anything will stop working if you take it too much. I find getting rid of any light source in the room, and avoiding bright lights before sleep time can help. Make some white noise to block out others (even if it is just a washing machine going down the hall) Podcasts are really good, I use them when we take rest on the plane and there's noisy people or crying babies outside of the rest area. Can drift off usually within 10mins if I can block all that out.... I suppose it helps that I don't have a 'regular' schedule, I can afford to usually sleep when I am tired and be awake when I am not. Pretty much have accepted eating breakfast at 11pm and staying up all night on occasions now... :)

One common reason for bags to go missing (generally speaking) is people don't remove those little barcode stickers that sometimes get put on the side/bottom of bags. If you have old ones on there, the baggage scanning system gets confused and can either send a bag to the wrong flight (in which case it won't match a manifested passenger) or direct to the 'lost luggage' which may be why they often can't locate things for awhile. Especially if it might manage to go to a different flight (very rare but possible wherever humans interact with a bag) It's tempting to assume that things have been stolen but it is also very possible for locks to shear or break off bags and bags to come open, spilling the contents. If this happens along a conveyor, the items may fall out over some distance, and then if the bag has moved on they have no way of knowing which bag the items came from. So it may be worth checking with the arrival airport lost items department (where the lost bags go, but items found airside) to see if any 'loose items' are there which they couldn't match to a bag. Many departments handle a bag, it is not always the airline who has 'custody' of a bag it can also be airport/customs/quarantine so may be worth checking with them as well. Some airports do have a reputation for theft, unfortunately locks are only deterrent as no bag aside from a diplomatic or security case is truly 'theft proof'. I can open almost any type of locked suitcase with a pen and a couple of other tools (including shell type hard cases) something you tend to learn on the job when people lose their key locks and have put their passports or medication inside their bags.... So, if items are truly valuable, best to carry them on. I am continually surprised by people who do not lock their cases AT ALL. (not saying she did this, just an observation) As I said it is not fool proof but can be a deterrent. If you know you will travel through an airport of dubious reputation, you can buy those cable seals with numbers on. At least then you can take a photo of the seals and if they have been removed use it as proof to lodge a claim with the airline/airport/customs or to prove someone opened your bag if something is put inside of it. Hope you get some answers soon OP!

I've used them twice, and have no complaints. Although I had an issue with one of the items, they were very good with service, they kept in constant touch to let me know whatwas happening with the item, and they gave me several options of what I wanted to do according to what worked for me. I also have a couple of 'tech nerd' friends who regularly buy phones, cameras and accessories from them. To be honest they have the best customer service I have come across in Dubai. They are also very quick to respond to question on FB, Twitter etc if that is your preferred method. My bank regularly call me when I buy online, not always but it can depend also on spending patterns. At Christmas a lot of us are spending more than normal or making a lot of purchases so the system flags it as suspicious. Last week I made a purchase for a Kindle book on Amazon and within thirty seconds the bank had called me to verify. It was only $3 but since I hadn't bought on Amazon for awhile it raised a flag with them I guess. I agree, would rather get the calls than a blocked card or fraudulent activity! Did you know that even if you report your card lost or stolen here, some banks hold you liable until youalso advise them IN WRITING. Noticed this the other day on the pamphlet that came with my new debit card. So better check, ladies!

Sorry to hear about your mum. Since being in Dubai I have often had tests etc done back home, but they are not ready before I leave. So I arranged with the dr/reception to have a password in my record that I would use when calling so they would verify it was me to pass results over the phone, which normally they don't do. Perhaps anyone here in a similar situation could do the same, or get their family to organise it? Is a big help when being o/s from your/your family's doctor/hospital.

To be honest I would say no. The A380 can take up to 30min to fully disembark depending how busy the ground crew are and where it parks (air bridge or remote parking) She would be pushing it since she would also need to go through transit security. Is it possible for her to reschedule to the next flight so she can have a longer stopover?

This year I told my family I would prefer not to do Christmas gifts for the adults, rather birthday gifts instead. My nieces and nephews are teens now so do not 'need' anything however if they do really well in their end of year reports I will let them pick something more expensive than usual for their birthday. The only exception is my 3 year old nephew since, well, he is three! First time he's excited for Christmas. You could also buy credit on one of the charity sites that lets the recipient select a gift that goes to a needy family in Africa- e.g. can choose an animal, a farming pack, schooling for x number of children.... (World Vision does this) then make them something nice and small but personal as a gift?

I vaguely remember something along those lines, but can't recall the details. Best to check the airline website, usually they have details on there. It definitely would need to have a sticker on it saying it complies with the standard, from what I remember it has to at least have FAA one. I'm pretty sure most of them only allow rear facing but again the airline would know. I just checked Qantas website and they've taken the old info off- says to call the office. You could also try calling the airport of departure and ask to be put through to the check-in manager- they should definitely know!

If you are leaning towards a Kindle Fire, look into a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 (7 inch size) similar but has a few more features and only a little bit more price-wise (e.g. has a camera so tou can Skype call with her, she can take pictures, it also has bluetooth so easy to share files without a computer nearby, it also has Flash player for watching videos which I'm not sure iPad does... I read with mine all the time, since it can have Kindle app. You can always buy a folding cover that doubles as a stand.

I love the blinged-up cars (a million Swarovski crystals, anyone?) but apparently they've got laws out about it now so probably nothing as spectacular as in the past... Last year at work they had a guy with a falcon (he works for the company and the bird is his) he brought it in and let everyone hold it. Hope he does it again this year coz it was amazing to see one up close :D Other than that, I will be looking for the ribbon badges (look like a medal but with HH's portrait in the middle part) very festive
