Hello ladies, I am due September end with my first baby :) I am with Dr. Yamini at Al Zahra Hospital and happy so far. Al Zahra has antenatal classes which I will inquire about during my next visit. I would love to take the classes too....I agree it would be a great way to meet new mums and share some support :)

Hello Ladies, Can anyone tell me where can I find tealight glass holders similar to the ones in the link below : http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00114167/ IKEA Dubai doesnt have it anymore and I've checked Homes R Us and The One. I'd be happy even if I get something similar in size and shape. TIA!

I am in a similar situation but on Company's sponsorship and my labour contract says its unlimited. If i decide to leave my job, how easy is it to come back on husband's sponsorship? Will i have any problems? I know i will have a ban for 6 months. Sorry OP for hijacking!

Hi Tattie Bogle...yes I am on DH's visa. The Company didn't give me an option. They said my visa would be sponsored by the Company. Is there a reason why you ask? I know many people prefer to be on DH's sponsorship so they could change jobs easily but I believe there are some bans in that case...right?

Thanks for your reply Birchy. I didn't know I would need to apply for a new Emirates ID. From my experience so far, the HR / PR seems good...so hopefully everything will be sorted out soon. Thanks again :)

Thank you so much Cookiethecat and iveranodxb :) Now I definitely look forward to some awesome shopping in Austria :) We will be in Austria for 4 nights and we will be staying in Mayrhofen...I am not sure if we would be able to make a trip to Vienna (since its the other end) but we will definitely try to :) I hope I get some good deals in the museum shops. If anyone knows about some good shops in the western side of Austria, I would like to know.

I think employee reference is the key to get a job in most companies....atleast the big ones. I was in a similar situation...out of work for 4 years and it is really difficult to get started agin. We moved to Dubai in july last year and I had been looking for jobs since then. 100's of job applications on all the available job sites but no luck. I only got lucky now (after 14 months) and have a job offer from a very good company (not a very good pay but atleast i am starting somewhere). I targeted a company and added their HR and the department heads/supervisors on Linkedin, tried to contact them for available opportunities and thats how I got lucky. Wish you good luck...its difficult but not impossible.

Our contract is up for renewal and our property agent is asking for 1% of the rent as commission / service fee. Last year when we moved in to this apartment, they charged us standard 5% commission and said for any subsequent renewal, we just have to pay 160 dhs service fee but now they are asking for 1%. Can anyone please help? Can we do the renewal ourselves by just signing the contract? This is our first renewal...so we have no idea about the process and are relying on the agent. edited by smileys on 29/08/2013

Hi Rose717, I agree with your comments. I know keratin is just a treatment and not straightening process and thats what I basically went there for....a treatment for my super dry and frizzy hair which are a pain to manage during the summers. But salon ladies said BB is a much better and healthier option than keratin and will straighten my hair. I am upset about all these misleading and false claims made by the salon ladies to have more business....very unethical on their part I think! I had never done a keratin treatment before and I obviously made a mistake relying on these "so called professionals" for advice.

I recently booked a vacation through Emirates Holidays. The companies here customise the package as per your requirement...flights + choice of hotels etc. I had taken quotes from Emirates Holidays, Al Futtaim travels and Dnata. You should also check the rates for direct bookings...they may (or may not) work out to be cheaper...depending on the location and the deals these travel companies offer. Also ask for discounts, if any, they can offer you. I was offered 5% discount if payment was made using a visa card.

You can find absolutely everything there...its huge! But its relatively new and they dont have prices displayed for a lot of items and its a bit annoying to inquire the prices for every small item. Some things are really expensive....like for eg. i saw a palette priced at AED 35 and i bought the same thing at another shop for AED 11....huge price difference :) but the Gesso primer was priced at AED95....quite lesser than what I paid for at another shop. But yes you get everything that you need for art and craft under one roof :)

Sorry to reply with a question but please can you tell me where you're staying? I'm looking for info on All Inclusive resorts. Is it fully all inclusive or just meals? Thanks . Hi Sue, we will be staying at the Tamassa Resort by Lux Group. Its in the southern part of the island. Its an all inclusive resort....and from what we have been told by our agent, I presume it includes drinks etc as well (the agent clearly told me we dont have to pay for anything there). Apart from meals, they have a lot of complementary water sports included in their price. Check out their website for more details. Here is the link: http://www.tamassaresort.com/en/welcome.aspx

Thanks for the lovely tips ladies. Will carry USD and get it exchanged for local currency there. We booked our vacation through Emirates Holidays since they gave us a better deal compared to what we were offered directly by the Resort. We have hired a car already and will be driving around the island by ourselves. And all your suggestions on places that we must cover will definitely be very helpful :)

I just called their helpline to ask them if there is a way out to this problem and the guy told me that I need to visit the immigrations office in Jafiliya and tell them my name is similar to a blacklisted person and they will sort it out. I am going to try my luck tomorrow and I hope I can get it done....fingers crossed! We are going to Mauritius tomorrow....so it would be really great :)

somone in my old office had the same thing and he gave up on the idea of getting an E gate. His situation was a lot worse than yours though as there were 9 others with the same name who were also blacklisted ! everytime he passed through imigration, he was taken into a room and questioned and eventually let through. the time ranged from 30 mins to 3 hours too ! Oh My......Thank God I have never had a problem entering through the immigrations queue (I have passed it twice since we moved here a few months back). And I hope I never have any problem in future....this is a bit scary for me now :( edited by smileys on 17/03/2013

Ofcourse I dont! They didnt even take my finger prints to cross verify. They just put my name in the system and told me its similar and I cant get an egate. The face is different, finger prints are different, date of birth is different...and yet they deny an egate only based on the fact that the name is similar to someone. What do I say? There is so much they can check to be sure the person is different from the one in their blacklist. edited by smileys on 17/03/2013

A couple of months back when I was returning from my home country, I tried to get an egate card and I was being told by the guy that I cant get an egate card because my name is "similar" to someone in the black-list. I was being told to go through the loooong immigration line....and I had no problem at the immigration. Today I thought I'll try to get it through Dnata and they said the same thing :( she said I can never get an egate. This is so frustrating! They know the one in the blacklist is not me....my only fault is that my name is similar to that person. Has anyone been in a similar situation? edited by smileys on 17/03/2013

If the one you are using in US has dual voltage, it will work here. Check on the back of the flat iron and if it says 110-220V, you can bring it here....you will just need an adaptor :) I use mine from US and it has been working well :)

This same thing happened to us when we moved here a few months back. I know how stressful it is. Do you know if your landlord has applied for the title deed? Your agent can get it done using the title deed application. Go to the agent's office and sit on their head and get this done. If they dont respond, take it up with their managers. I was almost on the verge of booking my flight to home country and fortunately it all worked out at the last moment....

This is really horrible! I am so sorry for what you have just been through. I totally agree with everyone here. Report him immediately...even if its too late. He could be doing this to others too and if everyone just keeps quiet, it will get worse. He needs his lesson! edited by smileys on 24/02/2013 edited by smileys on 24/02/2013
