Both Little Smarties Nursery and Kids Academy take babies and offer 3,4, or 5 day services. Both nurseries are located in Khalifa City A. Good luck with the move!

I am a licensed MFT in the USA and it has been tough finding places that hire mental health practitioners here in the UAE. There are more places that hire in Dubai than Abu Dhabi. The place that I know is American Psychiatric and Neurology Center in Abu Dhabi. You will need to have all your diplomas from high school on attested with your license. Letters of recommendation from the last 8 employers or maybe 8 years. I don't remember. There contact information is online and it doesn't hurt to send in your resume (Called a CV here) also you need to add a picture of yourself at the top of the CV. Little bit different than in the states. It should be passport size. You can also try some of the schools in the area. Good luck. I am currently teaching at a nursery, but on my husbands visa. The pay is not comparable, but some places offer visas along with a monthly salary but no housing stipend. edited by sonomachic on 21/06/2012

Little Smarties Nursery in KCA is also running a summer camp. Go check out the nursery and decide where your daughter is going to be the happiest. Good luck

I live in Al Reef and would recommend both Little Smarties Nursery or Kids Academy, both in Khalifa City A. They are both British curriculum. both are about a 20 minute drive and many children in the Al Reef community attend. Good luck.

It is really a parents choice as to if they wish to send their child to nursery. I think nursery is a great place for children to learn to socialize. Children can start KG1 at 3 1/2 years old. Schools are looking for children who are independent when going through the process of choosing applicants. I think it is important to make the decision on your child and there needs. Each child is different. As the parent, you will see what they need in terms of more socialization and if they are ready for a more academic setting. Good luck with making the decision. I think it best for you to check out a few nursery and schools to get a feel for what would be best for your child.

agree with everything in the last post and would just add a quick stop at Emirates Palace to see the hotel. It is night and day to what you will experience at Herritage village and gives you the opportunity to see how far this country has come in 40 years.

Little Smarties Nursery in Khalifa City A is hosting movie night 16th November at 6:00 if you are interested. Should be lots of family there. Not sure if there is a cost to go, but might be fun to mingle.

First things first, would be finding a school that you like and has room for your children. School fees are extremely expensive here, so it is important to find out how much money your husbands work gives for tuition fees. School registration process is in January for most schools, therefore you may have some difficulty. I agree that Abu Dhabi is a safe place to live and raise a family. It depends on the housing allowance your husbands company give you and what type of locations you enjoy (downtown city pace or more quiet). The cost of living is more expensive in Abu Dhabi than in Dubai, so if you do pricing on websites that is an FYI. Household expenses range depending on what is included in the rent. There is a large expat community in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai, so you should fit in well. Best of luck with the transition and feel free to post all questions on the forum. We are all here to help.

i believe the stars school is specifically for children with autism. If you feel that your child may be on the autism spectrum, you can still go to american center for an assessment.

the american center http://www.americancenteruae.com/ has a great speech pathologis Ms Alia there that can help. It is hard to tell with children this age what is hearing and speech and language, or something else. The American center will send your son for tests to rule in or out hearing as well. Good luck and know, you are not alone. the best thing to do is get some answers so it can help both you and your child to be successful. good luck

I live in Al Reef, and like any place you rent in Abu Dhabi, It has it's ups and downs. Our facebook pages is a great place to get information, and like all facebook posts people tend to write the negatives more than the positives. I have not seen any spiders, snakes, or other critters in my garden area or while i am out walking. The positives about the area are, it is very kid friendly, big garden area, and a safe community. Construction of the villas are not the best, but then again our other place had many more problems. The drive to go shopping is the biggest disadvantage. Hopefully our shops will be opening soon in a couple months. Good luck finding a place. Lots of places to choose from.

Little Smarties Nursery will take children that are 4 years of age. They are located in Khalifa City A and are currently enrolling children for September. Good luck with finding placements for your children. I know it is a lot of hard work.

Be prepared to wait awhile (very common at all agencies) or you can also pay more money to expedite the process. For the medical exam you have to also have an eye scan. Nothing major for the medical exam.

You can just go and walk around to see the lobby of the hotel, the gold atm, and they have a bit of history and upcoming buildings in an exibit at the hotel as well. You will need reservations for tea and it is 200 AED (I think) per person. It comes with tea and coffee and three tiers of sweets. I went for tea and dessert at the hotel with my husband without a reservation on a week night. Desserts and coffee run about 45 AED each. Hope this helps. Have a good time.

I went with our nursery and it is true they use pokers and metal hot sticks to get the 4 lions and 1 tiger to do tricks. The animals were agitated and we walked out because we thought it was cruel. The circus had two hours of acrobats first before they brought the animals on. I would not go and recommended that it was not appropriate for the nursery to attend in the future either.

Kristi, I moved here in October 2010 from the States and there is an adjustment period no matter your age, but living in another country is a great adventure. In terms of housing and choosing Dubai or Abu Dhabi, will depend on what type of city you are from. Dubai is more of a city life than Abu Dhabi, which is a bit more laid back in my opinion. You can live in communities outside of Abu Dhabi like Khalifa City if you are looking for a yard and privacy. Best of luck with all your decisions.

If you are under your husbands visa and are not currently employed answer A would be correct for you. You are authorized to work in this country if you have a residence visa. Hope this helps.
