I ordered online, they deliver here for free :) Be sure to give a postal address! Their prices are better than local prices. Thanks but sadly all my plants seem to die a slow and sad death in my apartment, either because of travelling and leaving them with no water or the AC...so it is a bunch I need for my vase. But thank you for the link, I did not know of that website! Lol same! My husband has forbidden me from buying real plants, due to the number of plants that have died in our house! Now I get artificial ones :D

Are Aster and NMC in your insurances network? I think if you go to a hospital that is covered by your insurance you wont have to do pay and claim.

I bought a portable one from Amazon for my newborn. Couldnt buy electric ones because of voltage issues, but you could buy from Amazon UK. It really helps my little one fall asleep!

We have a license with AFZA (Ajman Freezone) which came to the cheapest, and we got a Flexi Desk. Their office is in Park Place on Sheikh Zayed Road, very convenient.

I agree Amazon UK wont have a voltage issue but slow cookers are heavy and you might end up spending a lot on shipping. I've recently bought electronics from Jadopado and Souq.com (just make sure it says "Fulfilled by Souq.com" on the listing) and had a really good experience. Delivery in 2 or maximum 3 days - for Jadopado once it arrived the same day! Both sites are UAE based so no slow shipping. I got a Kenwood Slow Cooker from Souq.com for 220dhs and it worked perfectly.

Do you have any previous work experience or skills? For instance, Nabbesh.com is always looking for freelance content writers/graphic designers etc. Dubizzle has now become full of scammers so I wouldnt trust it completely, but if you take time to skim through there could be legit jobs on there too. Most part time jobs unfortunately do require you having to go into an office some hours of the week.

I had a maid who was more concerned about her social life, than our plans, and would always ask for days off even though we had plans that day and get very upset if I said she couldnt because we already had plans. With my new maid maid I've told her she has every Thursday off and if she wants to change it she needs to ask me from before. For Christmas, I told her she can skip Thursday and take Christmas Sunday off which she was happy with. It's up to the maid to tell you in advance if she wants an odd day off thats not part of her usual schedule, you shouldn't have to check with her.

Hi I've experienced 2 very different scenarios of missed period, as someone who is very regular. First time I missed it, test came back negative and I went to the OB and she scanned and tested to check I wasn't - just a mess up of my hormones and I got it aa week later. I was having cramps etc. Second time I missed it (a year later), home test came back negative, went to the OB, scan showed nothing, but blood test showed I was pregnant! If the blood test is negative after 28 days, then most likely you are not and it's just a delayed period.

[u'>[b'>NEW CAR:[/b'>[/u'> Always stay under budget. the monthly installments might seem very small but keep in mind the economy here and job stability. you want to be able to maintain the payments. I would say 8% or less of your monthly income, because you have to keep in mind car registration costs and insurance, as well as Salik and the occasional speeding/parking fine! [u'>[b'>USED CAR:[/b'>[/u'> Al Futtaim Auto Mall is really good, all cars are checked for service history. You may pay a bit higher than a used car on Dubizzle, but you have the assurance of a proper company. They have a big outlet in Al Awir auto mall.

I used the Baby Jogger City Mini for the past 2 years. It's really easy to fold, lighter than other strollers, and very durable. [u'>[b'>BABY JOBBER CITY MINI[/b'>[/u'> They have a double version and I saw it's on sale at Mumzworld in UAE for 2299dhs: [url=http://www.mumzworld.com/en/baby-jogger-city-mini-double-stroller-black-grey-229543'>http://www.mumzworld.com/en/baby-jogger-city-mini-double-stroller-black-grey-229543[/url'> If you want the kids sitting front and back they have a Baby Jogger like that too, but almost double price: [url=http://www.mumzworld.com/en/baby-jogger-city-select-double-silver-black-frame'>http://www.mumzworld.com/en/baby-jogger-city-select-double-silver-black-frame[/url'> [u'>[b'>BRITAX B-AGILE[/b'>[/u'> This is also a very durable stroller, it's on sale at Babyshop for 1800dhs: [url=http://www.babyshopstores.com/ae/en/Babygear/Travel/BABYSHOP-Britax-B-Agile-Double-Strollers/p/158366342'>http://www.babyshopstores.com/ae/en/Babygear/Travel/BABYSHOP-Britax-B-Agile-Double-Strollers/p/158366342[/url'> There are some other brands on the site too so you could look around and see what suits your budget. I have bought a stroller from Dubizzle and had a good experience, but it helps to know which brand you want. Personally I think Bugaboo is very expensive and even on Dubizzle it's still not very reasonable prices!

I work from 8am till 5pm and my daughter started school this year. She gets done by 1:30pm. The only way I keep my sanity is by having a nanny watch her till I am home! My husband drops her home to the nanny and goes back to work. A nanny will give you a lot of flexibility, especially on days when he/she is too unwell to go to school, and in the random half term holidays that schools love to give. You can put your LO on a school bus and the nanny can take them from the bus, or you can drop off yourself depending on how close the school is. If you get a nanny now, you should be comfortable enough with her by the time your LO starts school. Good luck!

Hi Have you looked at the humidifer at home centre? The drop shape one? I use that, and add vicks or Olbas drops in the water and it does the trick, and it's quite cheap too: [url=http://www.homecentre.com/ae/en/Decor-%26-Furnishing/Home-Fragrance/Diffusers/HOME-CENTRE-Cool-Mist-Ultrasonic-Humidifier/p/145385335'>http://www.homecentre.com/ae/en/Decor-%26-Furnishing/Home-Fragrance/Diffusers/HOME-CENTRE-Cool-Mist-Ultrasonic-Humidifier/p/145385335[/url'> When my daughter was small I bought an expensive humidifier from Boots (cant remember the brand) for about 400dhs and the Home Centre one works just as well. I have one of these and the only problem I have with it is that there is no way to turn the light off. This can be quite bright at night. Yes the light can be annoying, I keep a small cushion in front of it so it blocks the light !

I think that's alright, they will have your file, and City Hospital is a very good hospital for delivery so you should be in good hands (inshaAllah!). Have you had a pretty straightforward pregnancy? With my first pregnancy I was unhappy with my doctor and told my husband I wanted to change around 6 months. We were confused and ended up staying with the same one because of the same reasons you stated, wondering if it's best to keep the same doctor throughout. At the time of delivery, my doctor was very annoying, she wanted to induce me early for no real reason, caused us a lot of panic during the delivery and messed up my stitches after. In hindsight, I should have changed my doc. You will still have 2-3 more months with the new doctor to get familiar with her, and honestly at time of delivery it's most important how professional the doctor is.

I delivered at Medcare 4 years ago, and currently gong to American Hospital for my 2nd delivery due in Jan. I would advise you to choose American over Medcare any day. I did not have a good experience with Medcare, though while not completely terrible, there were a few mistakes made by my gynae as well as the pediatrician that really put me off. Dr. Luthra was not my doctor but I have heard she is quite abrupt and strict which some people dont like. I have known several people who have delivered at American and no complaints yet. Dr Raj and Dr Braithwaite at American are both highly recommended if you do a search on here.

I think the Wafi spa took 600dhs. They charge per cup so mine came to that much. I was surprised there was not a lot of bleeding and she said it was because my blood circulation is very poor - still I was expecting a lot more to come out! She did say duas and Bismillah before placing each cup. I was very tired and light headed afterwards, but didn't feel any major overall improvement in my back pain and energy levels. I've also gone to Dubai Herbal Treatment Centre (DHTC) about 5 years back- in their Chinese medicine section they have cupping and then cupping with bleeding. The cupping with bleeding was just dots of blood that come out, not the flow of Hijama so maybe their technique is different. It is much cheaper at DHTC. Please do let me know if you hear of any one good.

Hi ladies Wondering if someone can help me here. My company is saying I can only start Maternity Leave from the date of delivery, and not before (unless I use my annual leave days, which unfortunately I dont have that many of). According to the UAE Labor Law, for private and goverment companies the Maternity Leave period includes prenatal and post-natal days. [b'>[u'>UAE labor law:[/u'>[/b'> Law No. (27) 2006 Article (126) 2. Pregnant female employees may take maternity leave up to one month prior to the expected date of delivery. [url=http://www.dubaicourts.gov.ae/portal/page/portal/dc/Legislation_Details?_piref292_457219_292_455214_455214.called_from=1&_piref292_457219_292_455214_455214.law_key=728&_piref292_457219_292_455214_455214.item_key=195'>http://www.dubaicourts.gov.ae link[/url'> [b'>[u'>Recent Khaleej Times Article:[/u'>[/b'> Last amended in 2001, this states that permanent employees in the private sector are entitled to 45 days of maternity leave, fully paid, including the time before and after delivery, provided that the continuous period of service with the employer is not less than one year. [url=http://www.khaleejtimes.com/legalview/understanding-maternity-rights-in-the-uae'>http://www.khaleejtimes.com/legalview/understanding-maternity-rights-in-the-uae[/url'> My semi-govt company gives 60 days maternity leave. [b'>[u'>According to the HR policy in my company:[/u'>[/b'> Female employees with 1 year of continuous service at the date of Maternity Leave are entitled to maternity leave of 60 calendar days (consecutive) with full gross pay. The minimum period of post-natal maternity leave is 4 weeks. This is to ensure appropriate post-natal rest and recuperation prior to resuming duties. Doesn't that imply that leave can be taken prenatal too? I mailed HR with the above links and they said they will follow the company policy so I should stick to that, but it seems to me the company should adhere to the UAE labor law guidelines and anyways the HR policy implies a prenatal period. Else it wouldn't mention a "minimum period" for post natal. Any help or legal advice greatly appreciated!

I use Borderlinx and I'm happy with them. They ship through DHL, very fast service and up to date tracking. The only issue with Borderlinx is that they take volume into consideration, which SnS doesn't. So if you have a small package of 2kg (like jewelry, makeup) Borderlinx is cheaper. If you have a large box (stuffed toy) that weights under 1kg, Shopand Ship is cheaper, because Borderlinx will see that the box is big.

hi! Have you first checked with the schools if they will have a seat for your daughter and will accept applications for Term 3? A lot of the popular schools will be full. If you havent called them, then it's best you do that first, and also let them know on the phone that since you will have just arrived to UAE you will not have your Emirates ID etc ready, and they can guide you. I don't think it should be a problem that you dont have ID numbers yet, because my daughter is in a GEMS school and for the government KHDA school contract they require Emirates ID for both parents and the child. They had a note saying if you are new to UAE and don't have your ID then please let the registrar know. So it is something that schools here are aware of. Good luck!

Congratulations! The most important thing is to check which hospitals are covered by your insurance, and the maternity limit in your insurance plan. Based on that you can decide where to deliver. If you have coverage of American Hospital or City Hospital, go for those. Lots of threads here about doctors there, highly recommended. I'm seeing Dr. Raj at American and she's great.

My daughter changed nursery a couple of times and would always cry her first few days (she started nursery at 11 months old), and at every nursery they said it's best to leave with a quick goodbye (only the first day I could stay for about 10 minutes, every other day it was just a quick hug, kiss ,goodbye and out the door). It was very hard at times especially when she was smaller because she would be hysterical, and walking away hearing her cries was heartbreaking. I would usually call about an hour after dropping her to check on her, and they would go check and tell me she wasn't crying any more. At each nursery she settled within a few days and stopped crying at drop off and was happy and bubbly when we went to pick her. The idea is, if you stick around just because they are crying, they will cry everyday in hopes that you will stay. It does seem cruel but it works. There have been other kids in her classes who would always cry no matter what, even half way into the term, so I know each child is different. I hope you find a suitable nursery for your child, I know it's not easy!

Thanks so much! Appreciate it. I have to make a decision soon it's just really difficult without knowing if the kids will fit in or not... I'm hearing many mixed reviews and that makes it difficult. Anyone also have feedback on Safa Horizon Japs ??? Overall, I've heard very good things about the school, and it always gets the top rating from KHDA. It's quite hard to get admission so if you have an offer I suggest you take it. Have you gone for a school tour? That will give you an idea of if your kids will fit in. If you do a search on the threads for WIS as well as the other schools you mentioned, you'll see past reviews . The EW boards are not as active now so you might not get as detailed replies as before so a search is your best option.

Hi I sponsored my husband and have a long post about it in a previous thread: [url=http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic225465-sponsoring-husband-and-daughter-for-residency-visa-forum23.aspx'>http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic225465-sponsoring-husband-and-daughter-for-residency-visa-forum23.aspx[/url'> I can see why you think the religion thing might be an issue because under Islamic law a muslim woman cannot marry a non-Muslim man. However you are already married so I don't think at any point they would check your religions, it's more about getting your marriage certificate attested by the authorities here and then starting the process. However it's quite unpredictable here and you never know at some point in the process someone might notice the religions - possibly once you submit your whole application to the "Human Cases" section at immigration with all documents, they go through each case thoroughly and then either approve or reject so they might notice then (typically takes 1 - 2 weeks for approval because they are very thorough) - so I can't really guarantee either way. Ideally if he can get a job in UAE as well and get a visa from his company, it would avoid you all this stress! Or if you have extra money for a trade license, he can open a company with AFZA for about 24k a year, and get a 3 year investor visa. Good luck!
