Dr Janaki is very supportive of a VBAC. I had a c-sec with her in March and during my 6 week check-up she said I could go for a VBAC with my next and she'd like it if I could wait for a year before getting pregnant again. So with your youngest being 6, I think you have a pretty good chance. The best part about Dr Janaki was that she's reply to every email in less than an hour. It made up for her non-indulging behaviour during the appointment :) Also, I LOVED the postnatal care at Welcare. Stella and her team were FAB!

Gazebo is good Indian... especially the Biryani. Great afghani-style buffet at Barbeque Delights at JBR. edited by stovetop on 21/11/2011

Ghiradelli and Valrhona. AMAZING for baking. I'd like to know too if anyone found either of these here. The Gourmet Statio in Oasis used to have Valrhona cocoa sometimes, but now that's gone :(

She's excellent and very, VERY good at what she does. She's in an apartment very near the JLT metro, but the Marina side. I'll let her know about this thread.

Hi, on Al Nahda Street, just as you turn right off of Khalid bin al Waleed, one block down on the right are several kurti shops. (at about 29A and 25B cross streets) They have ready made kurti's nice and even pakistan style. Just ask them. I always ask for the 90 Dh selection and they have some decent ones for every day. The best store for pakistan style is around the corner to the right- after you pass the "Vegetarian Restaurant" on the right (another landmark is accross the street from the veg restaurant you will see Dream Girls Tailors) I recently bought a fancy one for 295 Dhs, but I have three pretty ones that were only 90 Dhs. Ask them to bring them out, and you will have a better selection. edited by Aleta on 18/10/2011 Which one is Al Nahda street? Not very well-versed with Bur Dubai :o

Thanks ladies. Unfortunately I fly out on Thursday, so don't have a lot of time to go to the home boutiques. But are there are places where I can get just the kurtaas? Especially in Meena Bazaar since I have to go pick up the ones I've bought already and are having altered. TIA.

Well, I'm not a beef eater, but we were once at Atlantis for a blogger's event and I was pretty awed by some of the trivia the chefs threw at us. Like the concept of marbling - and how they fatten a cow on grain versus grass so that the steak is more tender and how they cook the quail eggs for exactly 12 minutes to get the right amount of wobble. Here's a list of some of the bloggers who covered it. Some very appetizing pictures too, especially from the first link; so you can't say I didn't warn you :D http://tinyurl.com/6a7t32u http://tinyurl.com/3rekqhz http://tinyurl.com/3pzs9cz Sorry, don't have any fodder on Ruth Chris.

Thanks ladies. Clearly it's not an option then :D Why not? Just takes longer-the buses are good though Don't mind the bus rides really, but just realised that DD's pram is a little too big to maneuver, especially when the buses are packed. We take the bus from The Gardens to the Ibn Batuta station, but that's hardly 7 minutes and is usually just a handful of people.

... with their small baby in a little cart thing trailing behind Daddy's bike... Can anyone tell me what that thing is called? I saw a lady cycling at Al Wasl with her baby in one of those, and I always wanted to know what it's called so I can google images of it and freak my MIL out :D ETA: My MIL finds me carrying DD in a sling scary. :) edited by stovetop on 25/09/2011

So glad to see this thread! Time is flying way too soon. Solids are getting better than when they first begun. Rice, potatoes, peas, bananas, carrots, lentils, apples, pears and even cherries...the list is endless. She really seems to hate water though, and so we're having to deal with a few bouts of constipation too. :( I'm thinking about no. 2 too, but really, I musn't right now. :D

Alexia, I had acute SPD too, so much that I had to quit work at 6 months and wasn't able to walk for a few weeks (and my pain threshold is usually quite high). But I took 10 chiropractic sessions with Dr Raslan at The Dental Spa and it rally helped. Didn't go away completely till DD came out, but was far more bearable.

mmmm, what you gona stuff them with stovetop? Bit late to answer, but I got frustrated and stuffed the tiny ones anyway with a spinach cream. Then poured some tomato-basil sauce over them, grated some parmesan and baked for a few minutes. DH said I've got back my mojo in the kitchen ;)

Has anyone used them? I went in yesterday for waxing and threading (what felt like threading boot camp :o), both with the same lady and came out quite unhappy. But I don't want to write them off completely since they're super-convenient for me (just in the next building). If anyone's had a good experience with someone[u'> apart[/u'> from a lady called Elaine, I'd love to hear. TIA

IWOM - keep some lavender oil in your cupboard - if you burn yourself you can put this directly on your skin, and the next day you won't have any redness or blistering (see all previous threads on essential oils!). Magic stuff. Where do you get pure lavender oil here?

The other day I asked the waitress at Nando's if I could just get the burger, and not the meal (because the burger wasn't listed on their menu by itself). She got me just the chicken breast. No burger bread, no lettuce, no tomato, no mayo, basically... no burger! It took me 5 minute to explain that I wanted just the sandwich including all it's elements and not the fries and Coke. Grr Edited because I spell like a 4 year old edited by stovetop on 01/08/2011

Oh AriVW, that will be so so so nice of her! But might also be a pain because I heard many books are out of print, so just second hand copies left. Though I'm quite happy with 2nd hand ones in good condition too. I'm looking for: "When daddy was a little boy" by Alexander Raskin, the cover looks like this: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ElZ2eFtMibo/Tabg_v-hc5I/AAAAAAAAAZo/1at3sfCxCJE/s1600/whendaddywasalittleboy.jpg (I found one on Ebay, but the seller's having some issues on shipping.) :( Mishkina Kasha (if its translated in English) by Nikholai Nosov. Actually, just anything that is illustrated and translated into English. Could you please drop me a line at [email protected] so that I can bore you a little more with my undying love for these books? :D Thanks for the links Princess_1, the Dr Seuss books are pretty common, so that's not a problem :)

Hi Sunsa, don't know which pump you use but maybe you could look at renting out a hospital grade pump for a week to give the process a jumpstart? I used a Lactina for a month and it really helped move things along far more quickly than my other small electric pump.

Redrec, if you want to try out the wrap first then Michelle does lovely babywearing workshops every 6 weeks at the Organic Cafe in Dubai Mall. I've just been once, but most of the slings/wraps were there to be tested, except the Ergo I think.
