Not to take away from Mrs T (I'm always in favor of the small business!) but Gymboree also makes really sweet newborn head ornaments. Guiness, I looked in the MOE sore, but they didn't have any. Have you seen any in the MCC store?

Layool, there's a breastfeeding Q&A at Al Wasl on the 28th, if you interested. BFC has all the details. They will have a coffee break where you can ask all your questions to the doctors/lactation consultants personally.

Oh ok. There are a few cheap options for gift wrapping in my area, but that is too far from your area. And what area would that be? I need [b'>A LOT[/b'> of tissue, so wouldn't mind going a bit far if it makes a huge difference in price.

OMG! I got this thread when looking for another JLT link... and I just had to say....does anyone know the story? I still see this guy at all times of the day... in fact on Tuesday when we were going to the Avent event, he was walking in the middle of the leftmost lane at JLT... and we still see him near Ibn, JBR and Marina...... I agree with the poster who said he looks like he walks to earn a living... just thought maybe he's after some sort of Guinness record?

Just our personal experience, but we really didn't appreciate the attitude of the pead we were assigned to after I gave birth there : Dr Mudit Kumar. I love my Gyn/Ob there so its sad that didn't find a pead as good as her.

We took Arabia to Athens in Sept '09 and the tickets were very very cheap.. like 1200 bucks return per person. Though we recently looked at Arabia for tickets and saw their prices were the same as Emirates. But that could have been because we looked last minute.

Oh, how great is that dramaqn! We got DD a play gym very excitedly, in the hope that it might keep her occupied but don't think she realises that her hands and feet belong to her. She doesn't reach out for the toys, just looks at them for a few minutes and get bored.

I had bleeding too at 14 weeks andit was due to a low placenta. In all probability, as your uterus grows to accommodate your growing baby, the placenta will also move up. In the rare cases that it doesn't, it's called placenta previa and all it meas is that you might need a c section. If your bleeding has stopped, I would worry about it. Though just to be safe, make sure you don't lift anything heavy, no intercourse and no bumpy car rides for the next 2 months or so. I was given Duphastan too again, but I didn't take it because it increased my nausea like the devil. And a lot of gynaecs agree that Duphastan has not much effect after 12 weeks. Of course, it was my personal decision to not take it and am not advocating it to you.

Not to offend anyone, but I do feel sometimes that the license thing is a bit too stringent here. For example if I want someone to make something for me.. like crochet shoes or a craft that I have no idea about... I can't offer to buy it only because I'm scared that the other person doesn't have a "license to operate". Do Etsy shop owners or crafting bloggers also need licenses? And if they do, does that make sense for them at all? Similarly, though I understand that having part time maids running around from one house to another can be a nightmare for the government, but what is wrong with a maid earning some extra cash at her employer's neighbours (with full agreement from all parties). Even an extra 500 AED a month can mean tuition fees for 2 kids at a good school back home for them. Just a thought.

Hey Joanna, I was struggling with a low supply too. Or that was what I was told. I saw Paula too and started expressing to get my supply up. The milk that was expressed started supplementing the formula feeds that I was giving DD. We went down from 4 formula feeds to 2. Also, when you say you offered the breast at 2-3 hours, what did you do in the meantime when she would cry? edited by stovetop on 12/05/2011

I'm not so much worried about the overfed comment (she was 3.5 kilos at birth and is now 5 at 2 months) than I am about her not being settled. Am I mistaking her colic cries for hunger? I really think we have to move to bottles to keep my sanity. I'm sure my daughter would rather have a happy mum than a constant struggle at the breast. But everytime I make a decision, someone tells me how I'm doing the wrong thing. I'm waitng to hear from BFC too. I've bothered her so many times in the last couple of months with endless questions that I almost feel ashamed now. Really, is motherhood supposed to be this hard? :(

Hi Tanya80 I'm also pretty new to BFand have only just started getting a grip on it, but just wanted to tell you that do whatever keeps you and your baby happy. I had supply issues and was on 5 supplements and after a LOT of hard work we're down to two of those and rest is BM and expressed BM. Anyway, don't think I'm elping much, but just wanted to say you're doing great and congratulations on your beautiful child. I was helped a lot by many women on this forum, especially BFC, Hello Kitty, Plumie and many more people who took a lot of time and patience to write to me and answer all my questions, some even silly; so you will get good advice on here. I cannot agree with Alicia more about some people making breastfeeding sound like cakewalk. While it might be for some, it definitely isn't for everyone.

I had crazy SPD and couldn't walk for a month till I saw a chiropractor. About 10 sessions and it really made a difference. As for the delivery, my Dr wasn't concerned about the position... she said it was really up to me. Anyway, at the end it didn't matter because I needed a C section. But happily, I did notice that the pelvic pain completely vanished after delivery. I do still have a tailbone pain and will find out at my check up on Sunday if its SPD related. If you are confused as to your delivery, ask as many questions as you wish to your Dr. trust your body and the doctor, and SPD will tantamount to nothing during the beautiful moment of giving birth. My Dr was Dr Janaki at Welcare.

If advertising careers paid enough, I bet my husband would gladly give up his banking job to be at home with my daughter while i tried to sell people stuff they don't need. Though yes, agree that gender prejudices here and a lot of other places still date back to the stone age.

Hi ppl Just got back to Dubai after a 3 week stint with the in laws. Am pumping the cr*p out of my breasts with a Lactina, met Paula Miller the first thing a day after I landed and am down to 2 formula feeds from 4-5. Things are looking up, just hope I can continue with all the hard work till my milk supply starts looking really good. I cannot thank each of you enough for your support. Paula said she was impressed with all the work I'd already put in and the information I had, and all of it was because of the advice I got on here. Meeting her was great though because after 7 weeks of listening to "Oh poor thing will stay hungry coz you have no milk", someone telling me that I was doing more than enough for DD was relieving to say the least. :( Needless to say, I'm SOOOOOO glad to be back :D

Which one do you attend (if any) stovetop? edited by Emm9 on 06/05/2011 Haven't been to any yet since I was working till the end of my pregnancy. Am ready now though, will probably start with the one at Marina... its the closest to my place.

Sorry, sorry, sorry... I just didn't link the syringe thing to oral drops as all...*blushes It went alright. For the first shot, she didn't realise for 2 secs that it was her thigh they were poking into, so we were just waiting for her to react. Poor thing cried for about 15 mins and then dozed off. Hoping there's no fever etc now.

DD will have her 2 month vaccinations today. Like a lot of chicken mums, I'm more scared than she is. Is it hard to soothe them after all the pricks? Is there anything I can do to make her more comfy afterward, except to hold her close and snuggle up?

Hi Plumie Just thought I'll give u an update. Was back home with the in laws and couldn't access EW for some reason. Couldn't meet Cecile or any other lac consultant before leaving for varous reasons. Came back last Saturday, met Paula Miller on Sunday, have started pumping with a Lactina whenever DD lets me, formula is down to 2 times from 5 initially, so I think things are looking good. Have still taking Fenugreek and another Ayurvedic capsule called Lactare which was prescribed by my doctor in India. Am getting only about 40 ml each pumping session, but am hoping its doing good things to my supply. Lots to learn about pumping and storing breast milk. The learning never stops, does it? :) Can't thank you and everyone else enough for the support when I needed it most. XX
