look, this is a very unfortunate situation. leaving the dog with them for 6 months ok, and have the dog sent. Leave the dog with them for 2 years and then expect them to give up the dog. Not on. sorry. The dog might have originally been yours, but the dog is now theirs, he has organized his little brain to have them as his family, you visit. I might think their response could be a wee bit over the top but come on, 2 years? it is time to settle the rift, visit your dog when you are home and leave him where he is, with people who obviously are loving him to death and do not want to part with him. Apparently, they are treating him as part of the family and do not want to be separated from him. They do put forward some valid points so, let them have Smokey(fill in name lol) and forgive them for loving your dog too much.

seriously though, all kidding aside :)...this loveable fella does need a home without little kids, older is fine :)..he loves to play and pretends he is a dog. I have not heard him chat yet, but I understands he can have quite an intelligent conversation if you listen lol. He is presently residing on the bench in front of the window enjoying the birds landing on the sill...driving him bonkers of course but, what is a cat to do??? anyway, he will fit into a families heart quite easily. He is a year old, all shots, neutered,chipped, wormed so ready to go with his duck the minute someone snaps their fingers!!!

he only needs a baret tilted rackishly on his head, with a red scarf on his neck, to capture the hearts of those who get to know him. M. Andre is a very special young man (all this is said of course with a french accent, right? bon!) he can take the heart of the young ladies and twist the hearts of the mothers and fathers, who of course decide they must have him in their house. Without M. Andre, the house will be too quiet, no playing, no laughing at his silly antics, no warm body pressed up against yours at night, no warm kisses to wake you with the dawn..(big sigh here please) no pretending he is a dog when he plays fetch, no half closed eyes when he wants you...to pay attention...ohhhhhhhhh where would be all be without M. Andre? Unfortunately, he has been looking for new lodgings with a family but....has not found one. He of course would love other cats not too sure about dogs and small children though...one cannot resist M. go past Emirates bank. go trough the next traffic lights, take the next slip road (its long) pass 1st flower shop, then Royal Gardens and it is next door before the landscaping shop with the big water fall :) there is no sign on the wall yet (DM is very slow) but thats the villa :)

M. andre found her at Energetic Panacea Vet Clinic across from the Postoffice on Al wasl. They also have Da Bird which I have to get more of as I am sure M. Andre will fall harder for Muriel da Bird.

yup, I would tell then. Did he only start doing this since you got the new bbq? there might be the new smell that is bothering him lol... or, he might need to go to the vet. Put out a couple of bowls of vinegar around where he goes and see if that works. Do not put pepper, chilli powder or anything else down...you could try water but that rarely works for long, but, tell them.

borrow a baby monitor. Put a bowl of food out and the monitor close by turned high. keep the other in bed with you. I know you have but..did you recheck your hard on hands and knees, under, over, little hole she could not possibly slip through...recheck the house, laundry basket, every room drawer, back of cupboard, in the oddest places, in your car? in the garage, in a box that she might have found refuge but bot stuck at the bottom?

they do not have a vet at this time. On the main board titled *keep your cat in!* I was informed that some are picking up tagged cats, that means if you lose your cat, get down to the DM every day and check BOTH rooms physically for your cat. <em>edited by SueB on 31/01/2011</em>

have you knocked on your neighbours doors again and have them double check? asked the kids in the neighbourhood? how about asking the school bus driver to put up a poster on the bus and all the buses in the area? I wonder if they would do that?......you would probably have to approach each bus yourself, or know of kids who take the various buses and announce it when they are on?

claire, the DM do not have any vets at the moment and have not had for quite a while. The reason I did post was because there have been a few people who have actually seen the DM vans picking up taged cats, which these people took pictures of and the owners raced down and got their cat, but only after a worker said that there was another room. Glad you will go down again tomorrow to actually see them. Sometimes they are not as forthcoming as they should be. It would be great if she was there. I am sure you will find her though, very close to home.

I have just been informed that the Municipali has been catching cats with tags as well as strays. You must keep your cats in for the foreseeable future until it is sorted. They trap early morning and late evening. If you are missing a cat, go to the Municipality and tell them you want to see the cats...not picture, physically look at the cats. there is also a second room which is nicer, tell them you want in there as well. Go every day if needs be. We are not 100% sure they are waiting the 3 days so cannot say that the cats are held for 3 days. So, head to the municipality and insist on seeing the cats they have in both rooms.

if your cats have been getting their yearly shots they, by law, have to be chipped...so, get their shots and chip...a collar and have them registered at DM by the vet.

next year her teacher could have a heavy German Accent, and the next a Russian accent,, what will you do? I have met many expat kids whose accent I absolutely cannot place as they have been exposed to many. I certainly would not worry about it. You can always correct the diction if necessary :)

289 1114 I am pretty sure that is the #. Can I suggest strongly Clair, that you physically go down there? she must be close by. Have you looked in the smallest places in your neighbourhood? electrical buidings...hiding in neighbours water tank enclosures, garages in cupboards, neighbours who have gone away? posters in all doors and continually knocking on door who do not answer, insisting to please let you check their yard for hidden spots?? or have her hidden somewhere? see if you can get on the radio? call all vets with pictures...at midnight go on your roof and call her and listen. I do hope she calls back :(

you could try a behaviourist. I think Caroline is still at Nad Al Sheba (ask to speak with Lucy, she will know, the receptionist, not so much lol) Your cat is warning the children to stay away. Children are full of energy, bouncy, loud and quick moving. This is probably what is scaring your cat and this is normal for the most part. The children can try ignoring him totally, pretend he is not there. Everyday, put him in a quiet room and have one of the children come in and sit quietly, speak quietly (hard to do lol for little ones) and maybe have a favorite toy of the cats and a cat treat if he likes them. Have each of the children do this over a couple of weeks and see how the cat reacts. I have trained quite a few feral terrified cats which took about a month before they finally accepted me. This little cat could also have just bonded with you if you do everything for him. Let the children quietly put his food down where it is quiet and leave. It will take time and patience. If after a month, things have not improved you will most likely have to rehome him.

I do think you have to be honest in that you have not had her take care of a baby so you do not honestly know, but................I am assuming here that you think she would be incompetant taking care of a newborn and you personally would not have her take sole care of a newborn if the child was yours? I suppose you might ask if she will get newborn training with the possible sponsor as it should be required, ie, how long will the maid have before te mother goes back to work? anyway, if you cant be bothered say you have no idea....but....

try and find her a new home with older children. With your husband threatening to throw her on the street, finding her a new home might be a better idea. I am assuming she has been spayed/shots/registered/chipped? and it is not hormones? and she has always been like this? sounds like she is just not a people cat and is happy being around people but not pawed/pickedup etc... In the meantime i would take her and get her nails clipped short. Possibly see if she has a behavioural problem that can be fixed and let her be by herself without any attention and see what happens. But, please do not throw her on the street :(

go buy some chicken wire and put it on top of the soil then cover it a bit. The cats cannot dig. Also put down a load of wood chips for ground cover.

do not use your hands to play with them and when she nips yell no, leave your hand there for a minute, look her in the eye then slowly remove your hand and stop playing. It usually works as they seem to get the routine. Putting her in a dark room, not sure how she would process that one? Most kittens will do it for a short time to try it on I think so you let her know who is boss :) good luck :) btw, go over to WWW.felinefriendsdubai.com they have a cat care section :)

actually, the Da vinci Code is a novel CA :) If your child is in a comic book reading mode, or trash mode it really does not matter at the time. Just the fact your child is reading is wonderful. I used to read everything, cereal boxes were a breadfast staple lol...I reread books and keep my favorites. Not all are classics and I have read some obscure writers that told wonderful stories :)...so, as long as your child is reading, it will take him or her away to a wonderland and away from the T.V. and computer and make trips so much shorter for them :)

I did to a point. When he started reading chapter books I also started reading his books ;)....we would talk about them and I would ask questions about parts I was not sure he was ready to understand so we talked them out. Now, Ann Rices books were a shocker to me lol...I read the 1st one which talked about contraltos (which I of course had to look up) and all the inuendos/s e x/ etc.. talked it over with the husband and we agreed to let him continue with it, but at the end, we talked about it and it turned out, he did nto understand alot of it so ignored it...anyway, I suppose that is some form of censorship. I do think we should know what our kids are reading and take the time to review it ourselves ...there are some books that might totally confuse them and they get squewed ideas because of misunderstandings of what they are reading, so, it is good to have a handle on it with them...to a point :)

they will not pick up the cats with a tag. In order to have the tag you have to have the collar and sniffy is right, chances of them being able to scan your pet are slim. They are 3 to a cage, not good so pay attention to your kitties.
