Apparently getting loans/credit cards once you have a file opened in Emcredit is very difficult for at least 3 years. This is after your have resolved the matter. She perhaps best just lie low. Even if they were to close the file - she likely won't get a loan easily. This is what I know from a friend's recent loan/credit card rejections.

I have been where you are and worse - every sort of abuse conceivable and not only from husband but his entire family. The financial aspect which is the only thing you say holding you back is perhaps not the biggest reason. Usually the core issue is the hassle of the logistics, taking a new place, settling in etc. We can't see ourselves doing it all. You will get there eventually and then regret for staying for so long. OP, Dubai courts have given a much better settlement (as compared to what one would get in India) to the women I know. The father of the kids has often had to pay for fees and rent. All the more if special needs are involved the court is extremely helpful. You have to make up your mind and either stay without complaining as it will only make you more miserable or do something about it.

Is your package heavy weight? I was told the delay with my package was because it was 18 kilos. I have received one other small package from the US in 5 days. edited by summerdream on 13/06/2012

I have a parcel of goodies coming from my US account which has been in there since the 8th. No update on the website and I am sending myself mad checking it every 30 minutes (and not getting work done), is anyone else having delays? I'm dying to get my new dresses! My parcel from the US was quite delayed too and this was 2-3 months ago. Once it even got offloaded...so I believe for packages from the US its the norm. it took about 10-11 days to get to me.

Think there is a difference between recommending someone else and using the site as free advertising.... Just sayin' I understand - but you know how some posters pretend to be a happy customer, it irks me no end.... I didn't advertise as such, the question was asked and I replied...just saying ;) Anyway, it did help me realise advertising on EW should help.

The shire - did you find the owner of the iphone? Just curious - its so nice when someone like you finds the phone and a shame that it can't be returned to the owner. Maybe you can have the pwd broken into and access contacts - am sure the sim card would be disconnected by now.

Av1998, I emphathise with where you are... also do wonder like the other poster, if your husband went into depression/denial due to the autism. If you believe he is good at heart, then counselling may really help you both. If you think he doesn't quite care - then remember the courts will give your kids maintenance. Given you are in Dubai now and the maintenance will not be enforcable in India, the court option is really only valid if you believe DH is here for the long run. You haven't mentioned DH being unhappy about expenses for the kids. For all you know he may agree the marriage is over but fulfil his responsibility.

I have never not got a parking either and believe me I am a regular! I didn't think the parking was too tight. What I don't like is the exit to B1 from B2. Its dangerous as you turn in to the left while a car could be coming down the ramp.

I meant 'fell off' from the beach bag - I guess I should have said 'fall out'. Ask her to try put something similair in the beach bag and see if they could fall out easily. To me it looks like someone actually took the rings from her bag if they are gone. All 4 falling out of the bag is slightly more unlikely. I guess there are no cameras at the pool - but if there are, she should have them looked at.

I had a very similair sequence of events once, although I used my car instead of a taxi. I looked absolutely everywhere and no sign of one earring. A year later the earring I found at home. I have no idea how it got where it was - but I hope for your friend that its just her being scatter brained and its still with her somewhere. The rings and that too 4 of them would have made a sound or a good chance to have hit her feet and she would have noticed them with her peripheral vision. So there is a possibility she actually put them in the locker as opposed to the bag, or that they are in the pocket of her jeans somewhere. Its strange for 4 rings to have fallen off and for her not to have noticed. Jog her memory some more!

Pink Slip Dubai is a great professional networking set up. I have been to many and you pay a fee of AED100 and that then gives you access for the evening usually at a bar with a few free drinks included. Here the recruitment agencies are also attending together with other professional and it gives you the chance to network within your sector. I found them very useful and it was a great way of getting yourself infront of all the recruitment agencies at one time and place. There are also industry leaders who give presentations, last one was from Disney and was about marketing. Pink Slip is very different from the horror stories that you read about where the actual recruitment company charges you. As for saving AED 100, I would say that you just lost out on meeting a lot of useful and important contacts that could help you find your next perfect job!!! I agree - I went to this about two years ago when I got made redundant. I went with a goal to increase my exposure to recruiters and spent the evening doing just that. There were lots of people standing around 'waiting to be talked to', but like most of these events, it's what you make of it. I thought the AED 100 fee was reasonable given the organisation, speaker, and free drink. Tell me your user name is a co-incidence!

Here's a different take - it may not apply to you. DD2 was born around 100 percentile weigh/height for children from the country I am from...she barely grew after that for months...she dropped to 50 percentile by 3 months...at 9 months she actually fell off the chart range...she was taking enough milk and eat a bit or quite okay even. It just didn't make sense to me and I tried to think she was taking after some in the bloodline who were very small. Eventually I realised DD actually had 'failure to thrive'. I was severely depressed and would feed her and put her down. She didn't get enough touch. I didn't even know how bad my mental state was and DD barely got love from me...doctors didn't do any tests on her - but it did worry them. I was watching a movie where they explained 'failure to thrive' and how babies can even die from lack of love and touch even though they are feeding well. It hit me then and I worked on my own depression - gave her more attention, hugged and kissed her everyday...and soon I saw her outshot kids her age in height and weight! Not saying this is your case...but mentioning my story if it helps anyone in a similair situation.

Sorry to bring up this thread again, but really need to rant. Was just trying to reason with a friend who posted this on her FB wall. Apparently she thinks its 'imperitive' to create awareness about this. Excuse me? The lady's in jail, the little girl's thankfully in foster care, and what are we making people aware of? And then she went on a weird trip saying "The only thing predictable about life is that its so unpredictable. This can happen to any of us......" All this is after a few of her friends who did not know what this is about clicked on the video, saw the first 3 seconds and were totally horrified and told her so. I have a 'friend' like that too - little common sense and then they stupidly try to cover up their stupidity!

My DD has been having Eye-Q for years now - I don't think its brought any substantial change. I continue to give it to her. As I have ADHD myself and remember feeling this way from my first memories of being 2 years...I very much agree with the latest findings that diet can help only marginally in improving the condition. Its probably true sugars can trigger worse behaviour or hyperactivity but its not necessarily directly related to ADHD/ADD per se. Recent studies are moving towards the understanding that cases that go away or improve drastically with diet was never ADHD/ADD in the first place. ADHD/ADD is different wiring of the brain. Certain stimulation/brain training can possibly help develop new connections in the brain, certain foods, medicines may help in that - the different wiring of the brain remains. Medicines often stop being effective after a while. I loose it with DD too sometimes, but as my brain and hers are similair, I know how helpless she is sometimes. Its a crippling condition and often bring depression with it, as others around don't understand. I am going to start EFT on DD soon to see if that can take us anywhere. edited by summerdream on 16/05/2012

If you've done your bloods for your new visa then your old one should already be cancelled so your DH can cancel his. DH doesn't need to be here for you to get your new visa since it's with your company. Hi there, thanks for your feedback but how do you know for sure that my old visa will now be cancelled because I've had my blood test this morning? Is there anyway that Tecom (mine) can speak to DAFZA (DHs)? You can't process a new visa without the old one being cancelled or transfered, because you have done the medical it means that the transfer process has been done. SS is right..

I walked for 12 years, 15 minute walk to and from school - yes in Dubai. Am alive - but would avoid putting my kids through that discomfort. That said, it depends if most of the walk is in the shade, where my car is parked (if car is outdoors, its going to take a long time to cool), how the school parking is... Its not a closed option and with a good umbrella and if driving to and from school is not any less of a nightmare, I might do it.

No we don't get paid double for the period we take leave :) Yes there is gratuity etc at the end of service but that's a different matter. hi... i'm absolutely clueless when it comes to leave salary and how the whole system works here... i've been working for 1.5yrs now and every month my company has been paying me my full salary... i have taken my annual vacation in bits throughout the year (one week here... another week there) and never as one whole block... am i entitled to a full month's pay additional to my 12 months of pay? i just dont understand this... help

All honest advise is going to sound b*tchy - but if I may help here goes. At full term normal delivery the usual weight loss should be at least 5-6 kilos - Baby + water + Placenta + Umbical cord etc. LuLee, how could you only have lost 2 kilos? I hope you don't hate me for this, but I got back to pre-pregnancy weight in 7-10 days with baby # 1 (horrible in-laws contributed to this weight loss and then again I had only gained 10 kilos in the pregnancy). With baby # 2 - I was back to shape in a month (and I had gained about 20 kilos this pregnancy) all this with no formal excercise. Here's what I did and I think helped Breast feeding really helps and although it does make you more hungry, try to make sure you are reading your body cues properly. For those of us who do not like drinking water, we mistake thirst as hunger. Breast feeding usually makes one more thirsty than hungry. Breastfeed on demand if possible and don't supplement with formula. This has effect in a few ways, on demand usually means more frequent feedings, leaving your meal mid-way possibly ;) and not supplementing with formula means more calories from your body. I ate chocolate everyday (only because I love chocolate!) and I just learnt that chocolate has been known to increase metabolism and average BMI of chocolate eaters is lower than of non-eaters. I didn't do low fat anything (again becase I felt like) but I have now realised that helps too as low fat food doesn't make you feel full enough and you end up consuming more calories overall Ate small meals throughout the day (because baby wouldn't let me eat a full meal!) but I think it helped with metabolism Had a completely useless husband (who didn't help out and hence more calories lost) Used inefficient workmethods (this due to my ADHD partly) but I was forever walking around within the house! and I am sure it helped too. Think Thin (Law of Attraction works for me) These are part of my secrets that one day will go in to a best selling book ;) Given I eat what I want as much I want and had never had weight issues!!

Because they are charging way too much for the service anyway. I have excellent health insurance with dental and everything but there is no way that dhs1m is covered by them. The parents could never have guessed that their babies were going to come at 25 weeks. My neighbor had her twins on her due date naturally without an eventful pregnancy, my friend had to have her single baby at 26 weeks by cs because of unforeseen complications in an otherwise completely healthy person. You can't predict what will happen. Exactly - you can't predict what CAN go wrong; that's my point and in a place where you NEED insurance; not having it is irresponsible. You are probably at a place in life where you don't understand what it means not being able to afford insurance. A basic insurance that covers maternity costs upto AED15k is easily AED7k per year. Can't think of any individual policy that's less than 15k per year that would cover up to 1/2 a million dirhams. The cost of insurance for some is the total saving per year for some. Do you not get the point...now don't say they shouldn't be in the country...you are not in their shoes. I understand with what you are saying when you say why should the hospital cover...then again better the hospital discount and charities pay the rest, then leave the babies in hospital.

Medical Insurance is not affordable for many. They would need to have the insurance at least 2 years before she got pregnant if it was an individual medical insurance. and yes - the coverage for an individual insurance policy would not cover the bll that has come up.

Hugs If this was recent and you had surgerical removal you can try again pretty soon. If medicine was used, you have to wait for longer for it to get out of your system. If the one tube was only cleared and not removed chance are sometimes higher for a repeat ectopic. I would recommend you google on this for detailed info... ...and I just wanted to say ectopic or any other way of pregnancy loss, it hurts and its okay to feel sad even though to others the logic may be the pregnancy was never viable.

There's a lot of misconception of the goverment health card. It covers very little. To see a specialist you still have to pay 250 - medicines not included. GP is AED100 I think. Its cheaper for me to take my maid to a private reasonably priced clinic, as at govt you have to wait for hours. Surgery is not included - I know I have paid. If anyone has any personal experience of using Govt health card for surgeries, long hospital stays please post on here.

You can't be scared in your own house. Just wait and see what happens tonight. the agency will probably try and verify her story, and then you have to decide what you can financially afford. You also might want to just give the husband a call from her phone and hear his hello - you will know then what situation he is in. I am sure you don't want her in your home anymore anyway if she could create the full story - so you have to be prepared for that. Don't pre-warn her about the agency. and if her daughter has passed away...am sure you can afford the ticket better than her...please do the right thing and put her on the next flight.

Someone I know have had this happen to them and the maid lied about death of her husband (in her head it was okay, because she was seperated from him anyway). The maid was crying and shaking and everything and later we found out from her own friend that she was crying and shaking out of fear of telling such a big lie. Another maid lied about her son (again in her head it was perhaps okay - because eventually when things came in the open it was discovered she had only one daughter - no son.) Its sad, but you will have to check - especially as she's going about her daily chores and not receiving endless calls. In both above cases that's how the maids had behaved. Again, if she hasn't given you specifics like car accident, bike who was riding/driving etc then it sounds vague. I know I am usualy the one fighting for maids rights on here - but I also know what I am telling you is from experience of nears and dears. The sad bit is that usually the intention is not for a free flight, but more trobule for you. The typical modus operandi is they call from back home and say they are too distraught to come back and you struggle to get your deposit back. Some of them create the drama for the simple reason that they are scared to resign and afraid you might want to deduct visa costs if newly stamped etc. Alternatively, they never travel out and do a runner. Please verify. If its true, its very sad and please do pay for her ticket and if not true she needs to go anyway. edited by summerdream on 22/03/2012

Call her home in the Philippines and ask for her DD by name. If the person on the end of the phone starts wailing, then apologise......yikes....if not, they will put her on the phone. Many have used this ploy, but we can never be so sure of how one would react. My maid had a death in her family and she was hysterical and calling all members of her family, back and forward for about 4 hours. It was really a big shock for her, and being so far away. Very sad to say - but there is a chance that it is made up, especially if there's no constant phone calls coming in - they are a close community and she would have got endless calls. Do some background check.

I think the 'hysterical' was because the poster said she had 'never smoked in her life' but knows it is better than any other method. Sort of like a person without ever having children, giving advice on how to raise your children. Anyway, no debate just a thought. Whatever really! Talk about jumping to conclusions - I said 'I know' not 'I believe' - I was speaking based on the experience of a friend who tried it - paid about 6k to the previous franchisees but he's still off a few years now. I had also researched all smoking cessation options for 10's of hours, asked around on forums etc for my ex. He eventually quite cold turkey, when he had a heart attack. Anyway, so that's the full explanation for 'I know'. The new franchisees only charge 2k, again checked for someone else - who hasn't done it yet though.

I know from someone who quit through them (the previous franchisees though). He actually had no withdrawl symptoms and is still off smoking.
