My girls are morning people. 6am on the dot they pop up ready for the day. This is true whether I put them to bed at 6pm or 11pm. 6am and it's "wake up mummy!!". So I put them to bed by latest 7.30pm, we sing a few songs and read a bedtime story and on a good night they will still get the 11 hours they need. If the child is school age and they are going to bed any later than 9pm then they are not getting enough sleep.

The new Mini Monsters on Sheikh Zayed Road is perfect for a 1 year old as it is small, completely soft, and the attached cafe for the parents is gorgeous. There is a party room from what I can see as well.

I delivered at the City hospital and Dr Raja Haqqi was excellent. She is a very warm doctor who made me feel very comfortable and well looked after throughout the whole process, from pre-natal appointments to the delivery. She is a mother/grandmother herself and would often share personal experiences which made everything seem less intimidating.

I know exactly what you mean, and add children to the equation - drama! It's the little things that irritate us the most, and then it all blows up. Everything is intensified because the family unit becomes more concentrated when you become everything to each other. No family and friends around to distill things. The part of my co-dependence on my husband I hate the most is the fact I have 'housewife' written on my ID! And don't get me started on the letter of permission I needed from my husband to get my driver's license.

By the way, my children are 3, and they can handle themselves well, because I have given them this tiny bit of freedom in a safe environment.

I am one of those mothers that disgusts you so much. I love placing my kids in those soft areas and sitting down and enjoying a well earned rest and cup of coffee. I have raised my children well, and they know to be more gentle around smaller children and wait their turn etc. Basic manners. If the child is under 18 months (or 2 years depending on how independent they are) then yes, of course you should supervise them, and they should be in the assigned toddler area. All soft play centres I have been to in Dubai have an area specifically for younger children. The reason I let my children 'run wild' is because the benefits for them are- builds confidence and independence, allows them to interact and socialise in a way they won't do were I watching their every move and being their only companion, learning how to handle themselves if another kid is being a bit rough. I am actually more annoyed when I see 'helicopter' parents hovering over their children, not allowing them to explore and take a few small risks and then they act like a nasty bull to little children who are having fun and may accidentally knock into their child. They are children!! They need to play. They need to tumble, exert a little energy, feel like they are having a little adventure. Let them have fun.

Make sure to install a VPN and then you can create a Netflix account. I love Netflix. No problem at all with buffering either!

Thanks for your responses. I guess I was intimidated by my doctor. He is a very clever, capable doctor but very serious and no-nonsense, so I did not feel comfortable taking up his time. I agree I should probably speak to another doctor to put my mind at ease.

Here it is. It is in the Trade Centre, not Times Square. Free for running track. http://www.dubaisportsworld.ae/rates.aspx

Sorry that came out sarcastic which I didn't mean it to! I would stop every few minutes to window shop if I tried exercising in a mall and people that move really slowly and stop in front of me is a pet hate. I will try and find a link for the running track

There is an indoor sports track in Times Square that is completely free to enter. It has a running track, would this not be a better motivator and provide a cool space to exercise without temptations, distractions and slow-moving people getting in your way?

Hi all, I am fairly young, in my early thirties and was recently diagnosed with polyps in my colon, which is unusual for my age. They had moderate dysplasia (pre-cancerous) so I will have to have routine colonoscopies from now on. Has anybody else experienced this? Did it lead to anything more serious? I have looked on medical forums and they have terrified me as there seems to have a high chance of recurrence and often the polyps are then more severe. I feel like I am a ticking time-bomb for cancer. It is making me very anxious. Just wanting some reassurance I guess. Thanks x
