Do you get both of these at any supermarket or some place specific? I'm lactose intolerant and been looking for alternate options. all the supermarkets have camel milk now and also flavoured milk like date shakes etc. It's very healthy too. :)

We got ours totAlly redone by Aquascape, very efficient, were there from 7-6 every day, knew what they were doing and we are very pleased with the end results.

One can be banned for the slightest mishap. :evil: It is normal for most EWers to have been banned [strike'> on numerous occasions for no apparent reason[/strike'> I have not heard of stamping! In those days Sharjah was the place to be, before it was dry. all the action was in sharjah! Does anyone remember the round chinese restaurant on the beach in (dry) sharjah which served 'special tea' i..e wine in china teacups and poured from teapots!!

Shaks I recently had to take one of our Birth Certs from Rashid Hosp '78 to the Ministry of Foreign affairs to be attested and the gents behind the desks were all passing it round saying look at this.. :biggrin:

I was recently looking through air mail letters my parents would send their parents during the 70's here. SOO interesting. and 'leave' was only once a year so people would only see their families once a year. Even getting a phone line to phone home was a mission! and going to souks for everything! Dr's prescribing salt tablets to people coming to live/work here.

In the 70's, goats on the roads which were mostly not tarmaced. weekends consisted of filling a cool box and going to the beach, and sharing fish with the fishermen when they brought their catch in at the end of the day: Questionable ac, no play areas, not a lot of expats - whenever i think bout complaining about the summer heat i remember how my mum did it with two toddlers with none of the nice cool play areas, cinemas, and luxuries we have now!

Not necessarily, there are some people who have lived/worked here for 30 ish years who welcomed the fact they were able to buy property as it gave them a chance to direct rental payments to mortgage payments instead. We don't even look at the market fluctuations as it really doesn't matter unless you are buying/selling at that point. We may only be 30 days away from leaving, however if you've been 30 days away from leaving for 30 years then it makes a difference! Buying here is a very personal decision based on numerous factors - it's very difficult to advise someone for/against. OP, freehold v leasehuld would definitely impact our decision as I believe especially in the areas you are looking in, there may still be some issues around title deeds of the leasehold properties. May be worth looking into.

Check out apartments in Silicon Oasis/Skycourts/that area. SkyCourts would be more of the expensive ones, and here's a 2 bed for 73k. https://www.propertyfinder.ae/en/rent/apartment-for-rent-dubai-dubai-land-2680017.html Lots of amenities on your doorstep now, and only a 15 minute drive to Dubai Mall. It would also be good for nice walks with your dog as you are right beside the desert.

Absolutely Stix. A tour guide book, NOL card, and off they go! I'd draw up a spreadsheet of the 3 weeks, plot out dates/times that you want to do something all together and leave it up on the fridge so everybody knows the times that you will all be doing something, like dinner at the fountains etc. And put 'suggestions' in the other days for them to do some things themselves. You could also pay for a couple of pool/beach days for them (somewhere cheaper like The Dubai Marine Beach Resort) so they are out for the day and having a bit of a holiday. Also, if you don't have a Maid, it's a nice opportunity for you and DH to get out and leave MIL with the baby so make the most of it.
