All of these schools are within good commuting distance from Meydan Heights which is really not too far from anywhere as you will be 5-10 minutes from all major highways. You could also consider the new Gems school on Al Khail Road, the new Gems at The Villa, and Star International. Any of these schools & the ones you have listed will be within a 15-20 minute drive.

There are also the Government hospitals (Latifa, Al Baraha/Dubai) which are cheaper than private hospitals, and on the cheaper end of Private, the Iranian hospital is much cheaper than most. All of them have packages which include mostly everything you need, although some extra scans/tests can be done privately if you like. Good luck!

Maybe the job is not quite your cup of tea, but if it gets you out of the house, some pocket money, a chance to mix and work with all the different nationalities here and learn a bit more about working life in the UAE - it's a stepping stone to your next position!

If you decide not to do it and leave it until the next renewal - a word of caution, remember to take Birth Certificates if you are travelling with children if their surnames differ to yours. Maybe it's just to the UK, not sure about anywhere else, but I got a good grilling at UK Immigration and you will be asked to prove with documentary evidence that you are Mum. :/: Just what you need after a long flight! <em>edited by Tattie Bogle on 06/10/2014</em>

I'm wondering if this is the same lady I saw a few weeks ago, I think it was also a pajero but I can't remember now. I pulled up beside her at the lights and gestured to her to please buckle the children in, as not only were they standing up but they were actually RIGHT at the boot of the car and playing with the lock of the boot - while she was driving at 60 km/ph. I was petrified they would unlock it and just fall right out while the car was moving. She didn't seem to be aware of what they were up to (was busy on her phone at the lights) and again, I wondered if she was carpooling as there were quite a few children in the car.

I've done one at the Dubai Courts building which is next to the RTA in Al Barsha, I think we just had it typed out at the typing centre/english-arabic, then stamped at the courts building. Both parties were needed along with original passports/visas. HTH.

Make sure you don't add too much water - it always seems odd not to add liquid but it generates steam so you really don't need it.

There is a small supermarket which sells vary basic requirements (bread, milk etc). The Spinneys complex at The Villa (5 min drive) will be open by the end of the year. You have 2 x Spinneys centres in Silicon Oasis - 10 mins drive, and also Geant at the Ranches 10 minutes driving from Ranches to FC (longer the other way round!). There is a gym/fitness centre at The Farm. There will be a mall etc in due course next to FC. At Skycourts there are salons/pizzashops/groceries/laundry/lebanese/indian restaurants.

MOL has announced Sunday for the private sector only however as the FZ do not come under this we will have to wait until GN etc announces it it is already in the Gulf News. Friday-Monday (inc) for Public Sector, Friday-Sunday (inc) for Private Sector.

Hi, the Osteopathy Centre (whatever it is called?!) on Al Wasl Road, Dr Russell and Dr Lauren both are highly recommended on EW. Definitely made a difference for us. Good luck!

It is not illegal to share flats (unless male & female together), it is illegal to share villas under the "one villa, one family" rule. In some areas bachelors are not allowed to share, this is generally a Landlord enforced rule when they own the whole block of apartments and would prefer families.

But it is to cover bills. For example if someone left the country owing a month's bill in a large villa that had a pool and a/c on all day etc - the bill would be more than 2k. So you can see why it is necessary.

Worse this afternoon and getting the "pressure" and wobbles. DH actually asked me last night if I was feeling one because I am so cranky and vague. Really? How interesting. There is something brewing! My whole world was spinning I think it was Sunday night and I was shouting to DH - give it 24 hours!!

At the end of the day, it's just a reflection of real life, from the annoying/obnoxious end of the scale to the tremendously nice end, and everything in between - that's life. EW is good as a forum as it let's you see other sides to discussions that you may not otherwise think of, but if there is a post you don't agree with or a poster you don't like, ignore and move on! We wouldn't all be friends in real life and sometimes you just need to be a bit thick skinned if someone disagrees with you. I agree that it is tame though compared to others. If they've used it for Egov payment, they police will catch them in ten minutes! Presumably they've used it for their company bills/their own bills etc which will have all their details on it AND cctv in the places they've used it along with time/date details. I really wouldn't worry about doing anything further apart from filing a police complaint. Take EVERYthing you can think of with you when you go to file a report.

Shell I forgot to also say that I spoke to the Land Dept and it was them who told me to get it from the developer. It is basically a plot plan showing where your property is.

Hi ShellAR, I had to get one of these recently, however I got it from the developer and not from the Municipality. The developer did try to suggest I get it elsewhere but when I insisted they had it, they sent me it by email ten minutes later. I needed it for something quite specific so I am not sure why you are being asked for it. Not sure that has been much help?!
