Hi there, My daughter goes to Doha College and is in year 9 and she is very happy there where she will do her IGCSE. I would advise you to speak to your preferred school directly and ask them about availability, they will require your daughter to do an entrance exam, which can be done from UK at your current school. Also check out the schools website for the required documents as there are so many that you will need to sort out before you leave the UK. Happy to give you my email address if I can be of any help

My husband works for QR and we live in company accommodation also have a child in Doha College, School places are very hard to find so I would start applying now to the ones of your choice. I can contact the schools you are interested in from here and find out the details.

Thats fine as long as they will also provide a housing allowance and nursery or school fees also agree with lalala if no tenants in your uk home unless your rental agreement is guaranteed rent

QA will always be mostly Qatari, I cant stress enough how critical schools places are here (its my job) regardless of the company if there are no places in the schools you children will not get in. I know several families who are doing home school and have been told that they MAY get a school space in September. Find out which school it is and contact them directly as the laws have all changed about putting children on a waiting list. Supreme Education Council has now stated children cant go on a nursery list or school list without a residence permit, however not all schools are following this guidence.

School places are very hard to secure and the situation is getting worse. Apply to all schools that you like the sound of. Do consider that not all English speaking schools teach the British curriculum if that is what you want your child to continue in. It is also worth a phone call to you preferred school so they get to know you. Kids have a great life here and lots of opportunities.

Totally agree with the previous comments, Doha is a very hot lonely place in the summer with not a lot of things to do.

Hi , we live in Holiday Villa with our 12 yrs old daughter and are happy here. My girl started in Doha College in year 7 in sept so a convenient location. My girl was at DESS before that, if they have a place for 1 child then the sibling take priority on the waiting list. When you come have a look at the drive to your preferred school from your accommodation as driving is very congested here. would love to meet up with you when you arrive . My hubby is also QA staff. If I can b of any help please ask and happy to meet with you when you visit.

Hi there, as far as I am aware you cant get new ones in Doha, you may get second hand ones through dance teacher. I had tap shoes sent over with Amazon.

Hi schools are a hugh problem in Doha where the waiting list can be very long. Doha English Speaking school has a 2 year waiting list but normally have places in year 5 or 6. They are very helpfull if you phone or email them.

I agree with lots of the comments made. Doha is what you make it, we have a great life here and have made some great friends from all parts of the world, Doha can be very fustrating but one you accept that is just how it is and laugh at the hoops you have to jump through to achieve things. There is lots of things to do here and there is villa's around for 10k I have seen lots some good some bad. Come with the attitude that it is a new adventure and nothing like your life in the UK . My husbands company gave us a furnished apartment when he arrived and we r how looking to move to a villa after living here for 12 months and have decided which areas would be best for work and school. This worked for us and also gave us the chance to explor and take advise of others living here.

I would put your child's names down in more than 1 school ASAP, DESS has places in some years but not all, I would suggest you contact them by email they are very helpful. I stayed in the UK untill there was a place for my child at school which came up after a few months whilst my husband found us somewhere to live. Good Luck with the move and maybe see you when you arrive
