I had my son tested and his results said no gluten, wheat, dairy and certain fruits/vege. My first reaction was to cry! It takes a while but eventually it becomes easier. We removed everything from his diet, for nearly 6 months, then slowly reintroduced foods. After 12months he is back eating everything again, but I still limit his dairy. There is a difference between allergy and intolereance, ours was only intolerance. Organic cafe is great. For lunches I would make chicken or beef balls that he would have cold, fruits, biscuits and crackers that were gluten free wigth luten free . I would buy the cake mixes and send muffins/cup cakes to school. Bad luck if the school says no cakes, I went to our principle and explained there was barely anything else he could eat. You can make the caked with the organ egg free mix, works fine. The bread isn't great but organic store has gluten free I think on a Tues, I would also blend this into bread crumbs to crumb chicken. For butter go to spinneys and get nutalex, it's Australian and dairy free. Sometimes you can get soy based meadowlea but not always available. My son hated all milks, but we ended up with Soy vanilla and chocolate and rice milk. There are many kinds but I find ricedream the best. If you free the chocolate soy milk into icy poles they are quite nice. I did see gluten free sausage in Park and shop. Hope this helps some.

Jumeirah College did have tables earlier in the wekk. 50dhs. Last time I sold about 1200dhs worth of stuff, you do sell it cheap but I just wanted to get rid of it and it's better than putting it in the bin. Most school car boot/table top sales cost 50-100dhs. It think the JESS one was 100dhs. Worth it if you want to get rid of some things. Give the school a call. It's tomorrow between 8am-12pm. I would think things sell for the same as Safa Park.

I use the low fat Laban (almari, red label I think) in my scones and they taste great. I did see in Park and Shop buttermilk this week. I think it was about 15dhs where as laban for 500ml is about 3dhs.

Hi, we went out to the Blue Souk/Central Souk in Sharjah to look for a carpet, yet there are so many stores and the ones we saw all sound very convincing, yet vary in price. Have no idea which is a good store and if we are getting a good price. Does anyone have a recommendation?. I did do a search and saw Sheba come up and we did visit him and he seemed lovely. Didn't move too much on price though. We are looking for the Iranian Nain type - Cream, Navy, red colours and good quality. Size about 3.5m x 2.5m - any ideas on price guide would also be helpful if you have purchased one. Thanks :)

I'm not sure how the valuations work but if you get it soon I think the CGT is calculated from when you got the valuation. All very grey really. I'm waiting for the realestate agent to give me the details of a valuer. Maybe email the ATO. If you get a comprehensive valuation it is also good for calculating your depreciation for tax purpose anyway. Let's blame Julia for the confusion! <em>edited by TimTam on 24/05/2012</em>

I couldn't work it out either, then I read on another thread that you need to login to internet banking, go onto personal information and update it, even if it's the same just confirm it's the same. So I did that about 2 weeks ago and Aramex called and delivered it yesterday. Not sure if it was just coincidence.

I go to real-pilates but haven;t tried extend barre but have heard from others in my class it is really good. When I started there I had done pilates before but I did 2 of the core classes and then moved over to tone and weight loss pilates. They are very thorough and I think they want to make sure you are using the correct tecnique to get the most from your classes. They check you do the excercises and breathing correctly. If you have done pilates before, maybe go along to a core class and check with the instructor and see what they say. Dana's class are excellent.

We stayed at Bodhi Serene, lovely Boutique hotel right near the weekend market and walking distance to some nice restaurants. It's a very small hotel though. We had one room for the 4 of us, kids were 12 and 9 but they were quiet a good size with 2 queen or double beds.http://boutique-hotel-chiangmai.com/ Worth a look if you can't find anything else that suits better. Otherwise ask on trip advisor, people are very informative, that's how I found this hotel.

teftee I'm having the same problem. DS needs them for a science project, I told him to ask the teachers and they told him, "Oh, we get them from the UK" Great! We went to Dragonmart Thursday and spent 1hr 15mins looking, every shop we asked sent us on another goose chase. We did find only 1 shop that had some round ones, but he wanted square ones. DS may have to compromise as we can't find any others. Daiso's are too weak. Clairdp do you ahve any idea where you found them? I know it's impossible to remember.

Hi Monnie, if you are driving from SFO to LA the Gilroy outlet shopping mall is really good. http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=23 The cosmetic company and the Lancome outlet had great deals on makeup/skincare. Like I said before I could easily spend the whole day shopping!

We did this last summer, but we did 5 nights San Fran, so much to do. We hired bikes from Fishermans Wharf and rode across the golden gate bridge to Sausilito, lunch in Sausalito and then took the ferry back to San Fran. The kids loved it and it was lots of fun. We bought our tickets to the baseball before we left, luckily as it was a full house. Great stadium and a brilliant atmosphere. We also love shopping so spent at least a day shopping. I booked baseball through www.stubhub.com There is a brilliant Apple store that my husband and kids loved hanging out in and you can book into free seminars on all sorts of things from ipad to iphone. (sounds very geeky, but the store is always busy and staff are so helpful!) Visit the Haight St area, if your kids are into music there is a good store http://www.amoeba.com/store-locations/berkeley.html#san-francisco Again for the summer pre book your alcatraz trip, we were there in August and it was booked out for 10 days. They have a sign up saying sold out with the next day available. Only book through the official website http://www.alcatrazcruises.com/ Yosemite was gorgeous but you may struggle to get accom for the summer. It books out months and months in advance. We had a house in Yosemite called clouds rest. We stopped in Monterey - stayed at the Hyatt Regency which was also nice. Unless you are doing theme parks in LA I would do more time in SFO than LA, shopping in SFO so much better, SFO has a great feel about it. (as others have said) Hope this gives you some more ideas. edited by TimTam on 30/03/2012 <em>edited by TimTam on 30/03/2012</em>

I rang HSBC in Jersey to set up the account as the branches here are useless (except the one in Emaar Dubai Mall) The girl was great and called me straight back. Everything was done by email and I only had to go into the Emaar office to have my documents verified and they sent everything off to the UK. Didn't cost anything. If you call the Deira or Bur Dubai branches they want to charge you 100usd to set up and they are hopeless and it's a nightmare to get parking there (a friend did it that way)

We did California Disneyland last August, weather was perfect, not too hot I think high 20.s maybe 30-32c. Kids loved it (ages 10 and 13). We spent only 3 days at the 2 disney parks, could have maybe done 1 more day. Also did Universal and then we went down to San Diego.

Do a search on here ,there was a post saying 'something is eating my clothes'. I'm not sure how to link it. Tea tree oil and sandlewood are good to keep in the wardrobe. I keep sandlewood blocks of wood and put oil on them. You will need to check through your whole wardrobe to find the little critter as they lay eggs. You can also put your things out in the sun as the heat kills them. hard work I know!

Carrefour sell the NZ Hansells brand. It's in a bottle and you just add water to the fill line then shake. Then you can pour out your mixture into the pan. So easy my kids do it! (can't remember which aisle, I think it is with cakes/Mirdiff store) <em>edited by TimTam on 21/02/2012</em>

The one I think elle is talking about is the small one in Al Badia, near Festival City. It is very small, like a mini mart. They do have a small pork section, small bakery selecion and fruit and vege. Personally I don't find the quality of the fruit and vege all that great there, but handy if you need something and live close by.

Hi Raw, It's really really difficult the first time to fall pregnant, I know you were probably told that, but you really hope it does happen. My sister was on IVF back home and did everything she could to make it happen. She did acupunture once a week and she was also seeing a chinese herbalist who told her the right foods to eat, she gave anything a try. She fell pregnant on the 3rd IVF attempt and now has a beautiful baby girl. She was unable to fall pregnant naturally, and her husband also had problems so for them it was impossible anyway without IVF. It also does take a little time for your body to adjust to the changes. I say try anything as you have nothing to loose. She said the acupunture helped her relax, and as you know it's really stressful. I have friends that use Dubai Herbal Centre http://www.dubaihtc.com/ and they say it's excellent. It was set up by the Sheikh. I wish you all the very best and hang in there!

I have know several people to pull their child out of the school. I worked here in a school and several children came across from Choifat. The children I came across had real problems being able to answer questions that were outside the box. If it was black and white, no problem, but to use inference, they struggled with. They were not taught to think. I haven't heard any positive comments unfortunately, but that's just my opinion. (don't shoot me down)
