If you're going to dye your hair at home, I'd recommenend L'Oréal Paris Casting Creme Gloss, it's a semi-permanent which gives you more shine, covers grey and the regrowth is less obvious. A permanent tends to give you a build up of colour at the ends after a while.

Great posts here from ladies in a similair situation khatoon! The thing that I was often told when I was single was "Just be yourself!" (and this was usually from well meaning married friends) and I kept asking myself ... well what does that actually mean? Really, [i'>really [/i'>mean? Is the person who I have become the real "me" and is that the person I reveal when I am on dates? I know what they were trying to say ... and it was meant with kindness of course, but I also believe that we can lose track of essential parts of ourselves as we age and grow. A few years after a divorce, for example, a once optimistic and friendly woman may not even realise that the resentments she had from the divorce have not abated and instead intensified so much that she exudes resentment. Is she being 'herself' in that instance? I think we are so adaptable and chanegeable and often a pursuit of love sends us on a personal journey to reclaiming parts of ourselves we may have lost and buried, and maybe shaking off those parts of us which we no longer need and are doing us no good. Im rambling on here, sorry, but the question of 'who the h3ll am I really??' came up as a big topic when I was single and helped me a lot on a personal journey and meeting my Dh. Ill be in touch ! I agree... every past relationship you have had shapes who you are as a person and not always in a positive way so it's important to be aware of that. As for flirting, I think super girly flirting is a bit naff. A smile and positive body language goes a long way!

seeing twitter reports that the Saudi National guard has been put on standby Is that related to Iran or Syria? Looking for it in the news but can't find anything... just on twitter at the moment. No one seems to know why but best guess would be Iran Turkey is sending tanks to secure its border with Syria in case the fighting spreads so perhaps KSA is preparing for that too?

So I had planned to go out for my 1st drive last night but DH ended up having to work late and by the time he got home it was my son's bedtime so we couldn't go out. I'd got myself all psyched up for it too :( Need to do it soon while I'm feeling good!!

I don't think it matters what the tower is called, the monument has always been known as Big Ben and can't see that changing.

If I [b'>had[/b'> to leave I definitely wouldn't want to go back home to soaring bills, cr@p wages and the rain so I'll be joining the others under that rock in Hatta!! :D Otherwise, I'd just find somewhere else to go and start a new adventure! :)

IMHO the anticipation is much worse than the reality and I am sure once you are out on the roads you'll be fine. Keep reminding myself of that. Too much time thinking about something is a huge no-no! For me anyway. Re sat navs, I'll probably get one but I think a map might work better for me in terms of getting to know where everything is in relation to each other. With sat navs, I tend to just follow them like a robot and not actually take in my surroundings, landmarks, etc. Looking forward to all the coffee and cake coming my way!! :)

I think it depends on the dynamics of your relationship. How would you would feel if he confessed the same? ....I might consider taking a good look at your marriage and change the 'roommate' feeling :)....sounds like your marriage needs a bit of renovating. So, take it as a lesson learned and something to reflect on in regards to how you view your marriage. I agree with SueB, this is perhaps a chance to assess your marriage - Are you truly happy with the current set up or would you like to get the spark back?

Thank you everyone for your replies and advice, it's helped me to get it into perspective and try to relax a bit! As many of you have said, if I take a wrong turn off and get lost.. so what! as long as I know which direction I need to be going in. I just need to stay calm and focused. Tonight's the night I'm going out for the first time so will let you know how it goes! :) Saw this thread earlier today and have thought about it a lot today :) Can remember being in the same situation a long while ago. A very kind lady offered to let me follow her to school, as it was only the second week that we had been here and DH was busy at work, so, in a automatic car (I had never driven an automatic before and it was a rental) I managed to successfully deposit child at school on time. 'Pay It Forward' was a film a while ago about helping, so if you would like someone to either drive you around a bit so you can look at the roads yourself or sit with you as a navigator/silent passenger, I would be happy help out and then I can pay it forward too. ...... Anyway, if I can help at all, please let me know. Think you will enjoy Dubai so much more once you are mobile x Thank you for your kind offer, if things don't work out with DH as my passenger I may take you up on that. I have visions of me throwing a tanturm and getting out the car in the style of Mrs Potato Head!! :)

Toffeepop, I completely sympathise. I have been here for 6 months and have only just started venturing out; I am also terrified. This thread has really helped me too, some brilliant advice. My plan is to learn a few essential routes to start with so when DH is away I can manage to get about independently. Good luck! I know, great advice on here, it's really given me a much needed boost. Well done on venturing out and keep it up :) Spicy pepper - Sounds like you're doing great! :) If I'm doing well I'll maybe aim for SZR during Ramadan. Eeek maybe!! My DH has conveniently forgotten that he found it hard in the beginning too, he once missed a turn off and had to drive about 10km before he could do a U turn! nonononono ... avoid those streets during Ramadan ... sorry to draw an ugly picture but people are hungry, on nikotin withdraw, coffein withdraw, thirsty, tired and really unfocused the first few days... so the first week of Ramadan don't just don't go out with the car if you are not confident anyways. Also in the evening when it's time for breaking the fast stay of those roads in Ramadan ... they drive like crazy to reach the iftar buffets and mosques ... just wait another hour until everyone eats and go then out ... just my advise. Oh maybe not then! I think I was getting carried away anyway, I haven't even been out in AR yet lol!!

You will :D I can tell you my case. Even back home in super behaving Germany I was scared of highways to a point that I had nervous breakdowns if I needed to go thee. I didn't actually for over 10 years and then moved here. My exboss who knew my fear forced me to drive his big 4x4 on my second day here on Sheikh Zayed Road, I did it, cried continued driving and drove ever since. In the beginning very careful and I still avoid certain areas (old Dubai for example) but nowadays commute daily to Abu Dhabi and became a very confident driver. Actually I drove only last year around 100000km and can proudl say I am accident free since 6 years in UAE with daily driving. You will get that confident too if you start slowly and regular :) edited by Nyranee on 25/06/2012 Thanks! I hope so. I think it's sometimes better to have no choice but to get on with it, that way you have less time to over think it.

PS. I'm glad I did it without DH being my passenger though! Yes I'm still worried about that, will just have to warn him to stay silent unless it's to give me directions! He's a nightmare passenger! GoodMorning- Eugh grocery shopping! That's not much of a treat after my panic stricken first drive is it haha?! ;)

Right this week I'm going for evening drives around AR and then MC on Friday morning. Scared but excited! I know I'm going to look back on this and think I was being ridiculous!

Thanks for all the replies, I'm starting to feel a little more confident about getting a plan of action together now. Will start in AR as suggested and stick to driving early morning. Nyranee I like the idea of treating myself after my short trip! Will also get a map too and have noted down your routes GoodMorning. I'm about to book my [b'>first [/b'>haircut at Ted Morgan in MC, do you think I could manage that on Friday?? I could kill two phobias with one stone ha!!

It can be soul destroying job hunting, especially when the pressure is on buy try not to let it dent your confidence and keep applying. Once you've applied for a job, follow it up with a phone call a day or two later. Also make sure you refresh your CV on the websites every day as that will ensure it's close to the top of the list when a recruiter searches your skills. Good luck!
