Hi there, I just blogged about the schooling issue for the Telegraph. Hope this helps a little.. or at least, lets you know what you're up against! http://my.telegraph.co.uk/expat/victoriascott/10155673/new-schools-give-hope-to-parents-battling-for-places-in-qatar/

Hiya - my son's in pre school there, and loves it. The current primary head is temporary (but I've found her to be absolutely fine) and she will be replaced by a new head of primary in September. There are 18 in his pre-school class, with a teacher and a teaching assistant - a decent ratio. We love the atmosphere and the teachers, and haven't found fault with the school yet. Personally, I'd grab the place (they're at a premium right now!)

Dear all, I'm Tory from Doha News. I'm working on a story about changes to RP processes, and I'm investigating whether women ARE still allowed to sponsor their husbands. Would any of you be prepared to talk to me? I will only use your name if you give me permission to do so. I'd love to hear about your experiences, even anonymously, so that I can write an accurate story. If you can help, please email me at [email protected] . Thank you! Tory

Yep, if you have maternity insurance here, you're one of the lucky ones. We didn't, and chose Doha Clinic for that reason. I had a C-Section (breech presentation) and if cose roughly half what it would have cost at Al Ahli, plus we got a twin room which means my husband could stay with us on a proper bed. Worth considering!

Can I suggest Doha Clinic? It doesn't *look* as nice as Al Ahli, but in my experience has much shorter waiting times, and a similar level of service. I had my son there a couple of years ago, and loved my doctor, Dr Tarek Shabaan.

Bedh - if you post your email on there I'll drop you a line (and then you can delete your post afterwards!) Baffled - as far as I know, the whole thing was cleared with DC's director of surgery - so I don't think the OB in question would get into trouble. But, you never know!

Oddly enough, I was prescribed them and had no periods at all. I guess we're all different.

Just to confirm the rumours - I'm the mythical woman whose husband was allowed in for a c-section at Doha Clinic. It can be done!
