In my personal experience it can definitely cause a temp that high. DS1 was unphased by teething but DS2 is extra sensitive and gets nappy rash, high temps, frequent night waking and loss of apetite. :(

I have found the case intriguing since day dot, but for some reason I just can't figure out if she is guilty or not. I think her blaming the innocent man in the beginning was a HUGE mistake but yes, she must have been petrified, whether she was involved in the murder or not.

Mama_toto, what did you prefer between Thailand and Singapore? Cheeky Monkey - Mt Helena sounds very isolated but exotic, I would love that!

Wagamamas definitely use the firm tofu. You can get it at waitrose. When you take it out of the packet, just rest it on paper towels for a good 30 mins (top and bottom) to extract as much of the water as possible. Then fry on a medium heat for about 5 mins on each side.

After my 1st c-section I was staying at my parents house and they live in a double storey. I just did "the climb" as little as possible. Do you have a helper? Can you base your day (and get your DH to help you set up) in one storey so you don't have to go up and down. I didn't do myself any damage while going up and down, but it's not a great idea. I just went super slowly Going down was easier than going up I recall. Just try to take it easy as much as possible. I am due to have my 3rd c-section in a couple of months too!

Agree that it isn't the distance. It would not be a leisurely stroll, particularly once you get into the entrance of the Lakes/Meadows/Springs

This is between you and your Dad. Not you and your brother - and you need to make that very clear to your Bro. This is not the time for him to be shelling out guilt trips. If you feel in your heart that you don't need to be there (no matter what happens) and that your Dad dasn'cessarily want or expect that of you, then stay where you are and keep your plans to travel in 3 weeks.

I have to say as well that watching my two sons interact is priceless (well, not all of the time!!!! - but most of the time they have a lot of fun). I grew up with one sister and I loved it as well. I think it is often nicer for the parents to have a pigeon pair, but nicer for the siblings to have same gender (of course this is not always the case). I would definitely have more than one if you can (of course I am about to have 4, so I would say that). My mum who was a teacher for many many years always said that only children had trouble sharing at school etc... wheras kids with siblings found stuff like that much easier. Each to their own though. I think the best thing is to do what is right for you and your DH. Good luck with your decision. edited by Tru Blu on 25/09/2011

I don't think under 3's are allowed into Ski Dubai!! True, which means that some of your LO's friends wont be allowed to attend (not worth taking any risks either as insurance does not cover under 3's)

Try going to a broker such as JdeV Broker's can be good, but Jasmine, please steer clear of Professional Practice.

There is another poster looking for an Ethiopian maid. Maybe she might like to offer the lady a trial? http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=159144 Hi Twokids, I looked at this thread but in all honesty, the maid doesn't actually want to be a maid. In addition, she really doesn't like Dubai and the heat (even though she is mostly in A/C). She has been here for just under 2 weeks and she is really homesick. She had/has a very nice job in Ethiopia and although the money is much better in Dubai, she told me that she would prefer the nicer work. Further, she told me today that she can not guarantee that she will stay for 12 months. The alarm bells are rininging well and trully in my ears!!!!!!!!!!:\:

With Daman, I know that Al Wasl is a "non provider" so they only cover 80% of costs.

Sorry the reply is late and your husband would have been there already. I just wanted to say that you need to make sure of these two things when flying an Ethiopian maid into Dubai 1) that she has the original entry permit (it costs 450 aed to DHL it!!!!) 2) pay for her flight in cash

NinaSimone that is great information for Ladies who find themselves in such a situation. Pingu, I would definitely phone ADNIC. Daman cover maternity after a 6 month waiting period (or in my case, they waivered it because I had previous maternity cover right up until the day that I switched insurer). It cost a whopping 50,000 but that was to cover the family (4 of us) and it is their regional cover so very good. HTH

Hi Pingu, You could search my recent threads, I made a post about Al Wasl roughly 2 months ago. The prices for NICU are about 3000 - 5000 per day (as opposed to 5000-7000 at City and American) Most insurance companies will cover you for 80% but you may have a limit. Al wasl would be a non-network provider for most (if not all) insurance companies, hence the 20% gap. I have had an awful time with Mednet insurance company the last few months (found out I was only covered for 3500 aed maternity! yeah, like that would get me anywhere. And they told me that the babies (I am expecting twins) would not be covered for the first 14 days!!!!!! Anyway, long story short, Daman let us switch to their top cover at a HUGE cost. But at least we are properly covered now. Let me know if you need a great contact for Al Wasl hospital. edited by Tru Blu on 07/09/2011

Hi 2soon. I am from Perth but unfortunately don't have much experience with schooling matters as my LO's are just toddlers. Hopefully some of the other ladies can help. It may help if you post what suburb you will be based in and what kind of school you are trying to get your DD into (public/catholic/private). If you have any other Perth questions, feel free to let me know:)

Hi Niggles, Not sure what will be running over Eid. I would recommend buying TIMEOUT Kids or just the standard TIMEOUT for some really cool ideas. I take my boys to Favourite Things at Marina Mall once a week and then Fun Square at Time Square once a week and then I just do the whole play date thing. I hope you get some good suggestions from other mums.

Sandy, Congratulations on a successful delivery! How old is your DS1? There was only 20 months between my two boys and as such, DS1 took it all pretty well (I am not sure whether this is because of the short age gap and he didn't really grasp what was going on, or if it all comes down to personality). From your experience it sounds like Al Wasl still need to make some changes, particularly as they are now charging pretty high fees that are only slightly cheaper than the private hospitals. I found the Dr's at Al Wasl very good, but like you, I found the midwives to be a bit hit and miss. Thank you for sharing your story on here, it is always nice to hear/know what is going on. I have opted to have my twins at City Hospital with Dr Elsa. I am covered 100% there wheras if I have the bubs at Al Wasl, I will only be covered 80%. Thanks again, ;)

I don't know for sure. But I am a "fan" of the facebook group called "Buckle up in the back Dubai" and I am sure you can find lots of info on there. Unfortuantely, I think there are few car seat laws here in the UAE. Hopefully it will change soon.

Oh how exciting to have your first baby around Christmas time? Do you mind me asking about the ease of having antenatal care in Dubai as an expat? (I'm assuming you're an expat, apologies if I've got that wrong). My husband & I are moving out tomorrow (eek!) and are planning to stay for 3 years, but I really would like to start trying for our first baby in 2 years (I'm 27 and don't want to leave it past 30 to start)...slightly worried that I may not be home in England near my mum for support if we do fall pregnant whilst out there! Would you suggest going for it anyway? Any tips would be really great, thank you :) P.S Sorry I can't be any help with the turkey situation! Hi Missteacher, There is a bumps and babes forum on this website. There is an abundance of the information that you are after on there. Good luck trying to conceive and I will send you all of my baby dust (I have lots!!!!)
