We saw the sale afvertisement and decided to celebrate our 10 years wedding anniversary in US, went to the website last night, thinking to book the flight, but found out they have increased the cost, can they do this? TQ

Thanks for the respond ladies. It's a big decision, but I need to consider to have the operation in Thailand. I have been in contact with Dr. Pichet from Bangkok Plastic Surgery and read good recomendation about him, in fact I cant find any bad feedback about him. I had a consultation with a Dr. in a clinic in Dubai, they asked me AED 28000 for lipo, for me, i think it's overpriced. Hubby was shock as well when i told him how much :-D. If you heard a good reputable Dr. in Dubai with please do share, will make some calls Thank you

Ladies, thanks for your feedback. I have informed her from the beginning that I am paying her salary not hubby, it's not that i am earning 20K a month, i have to manage my cash as well. When i think i have no extra things to pay i always give her and deduct it from her monthly salary. Please dont get me wrong, i will probably do the same if i m in that situation, it just that the amount she is asking compare to what reason she use, just abit too much sometimes, and whether it is the real reason or she just create one....that's another story, the trouble is, you just cant find out whether she lie or tell you the truth. When she gets what she wants, she's happy, but she doesnt get it....then the strike begun....when i said strike that's mean not talking to me, no hi nothing, no smiling, disrespect me...things that make me wonder why am ii keeping her. She talks to hubby, says good morning, treat the boys okay.....but refuse to communicate with me. I stick to my decision this time, if she refuse to talk then let it be.

DH couldn't care less when it comes to school run, he said you want to go back to work so you do the school run. Thanks God I have a very understanding boss! I guess you just need to explain it to him/ her the whole situation. Captaingerrys is right, it's gonna be one tough job for your nanny

To Egg, I went to Enrique concert last week, yes I agree, it was a complete chaos, a veeeeeery looooooooong queue just to enter the place, but perhaps its all because it was indoor concert. To be honest I don't feel secure inside since it's very dark, exit sign....not very clear. I also went to Atelier music festival in Meydan, no trouble at all, in or out (well apart from those drunken people). I believe the stage set up is similar to Atelier so there will be some chair for you to sit down.

To RuthM, I was thinking about the same things, whenever we have visitors they like to use public bus and the nearest one is at Arabian Rances. Keep reminding them to be very careful when crossing that round about, but I am sure there's something RTA can do. I am actually planning to send an email to RTA, perhaps they will take it as consideration and extend the bus line till MC

There are few ways, this is one of them. I guess you can find your way to SZR. From SZR, take service road in front of MOE, follow the one that pass petrol station in umm sequim road/barsha road. After petrol station turn right at traffic light then straight pass Dubai American Academy, pass another traffic light, the stay n your far left. Next traffic light turn left (with Emirates bank on you corner left) the keep going straight....the you should be able to see Al Barsha mall in front of you. Just find you way around the entrance :) Good luck

Ladies, thank you very much for your comment. Cornish Pixie, i like the idea of getting a dishwasher, but that might create another issue :) which is DEWA bills, i don't think my nanny can wait till the machine full :) CAPTAIN AMERICA, I am sure they don't like the idea to stay in hotel apartment, especially when they coming here to see their grandchildren SeaofLove, i did try few times, offering to clean up but she insists of doing it. She said she likes doing the dishes cause it's like a therapy for her. Yesterday, i manage to do the dishes before she start, she insist she wants to do it but i said no. I've told her since you did the cooking, let me do the cleaning. Still don't want to give up so she decide to wipes the crockery. I emptied one sink since the soap water it's getting dirty, but i knew there's are few more dishes to wash. She saw the dirty dishes and made a comment "if I do the dishes, I'll make sure it's all wash". I decide to ignore her comment To A Rancher & Clairehdp, to be honest I hardly cook for them, I concentrate cooking for my self, my boys and my nanny. My hubby....don't ask! Last time i cooked mince for him, he refuse to eat it just because it has some carrot. Since then....no more cooking. I do prefer to ignore her comment and be patient about it, definitely don't want to ruin their two weeks holiday. shjbelle, yep patient is the key. zengirl, i am not sure how you manage but 19 years is looooooooong one! i admire you!!!! :) Expatriate, you have a point, i guess i just need to find a way round, not straight through :) Cheezu, if i cook for them, it will never be spicy food, it just probably salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme....all the simple herbs. Aryanwynn, i guess i just have to be more patient, it's only for two weeks :(

My husband is from Europe and i m from Asian Country, so we have two different background of course. He's been living in Dubai for 15 years, i guess he adapts the middle east way :). He is not the issue, the issue is my in law They visit us on regular basis, before it was one month holiday...recently reduce to two weeks maximum (i guess that's because they always has a loud discussion with DH at one point:). Don't get me wrong, they are two lovely people and i do like them...but sometimes there are things that we just had enough. When i do my cooking, i like to use herb and spices (onions, garlic, coriander, salt, pepper etc) prior cooking the meal so yes, it will definitely has some smell. She always made comment on my cooking, "stinky food" that's how she call it. I ignore most of the time cause i knew she doesn't mean it, but sometimes she keeps bringing it up again and again. So i start responding to her comment...i said your food is bland, cant even taste salt and pepper on it (well perhaps because there are none). I feel I am a bit hard....but i just need to say something. Comment and reaction on food she doesn't like. Whenever she doesn't like food she tried, she always comment "eeeh don't like this" with face expression that you just cant imagine OMG. I always wondering why can't she just say "no thank you" without showing those expression. Good job i didn't cook for them though, if i have to...then will do roast...safe... :) Washing dishes. She likes to wash the dishes, i knew that from 1st time i meet her. The problem is she does not rinse the soap, so basically she put some washing liquid in one sink, place those dirty dishes, simply rub it, and place it in rack. Then wipe it with kitchen towel... :\: I've ask her to rinse it (especially if she's in Dubai), does she listen....not really. She just simply rinse it. Tell you....some still dirty or oily :\: Having the feeling that i m using the plates, glass, etc that still dirty just put me off. Sometimes, when she doesn't look i rewash the whole things. I have kept quite most of the time and don't want to make big fuzz about it considering they only staying for two weeks, like my husband said "just ignore it". What will you do if you were in my position? TIA

There are 2 building material shop in Umm Sequim - Al Barsha road. As soon as you down from the bridge (the one exactly before MOE), it's opposite petrol station, so you need to make u turn. The other one is not far from traffic light. Down from the bridge, first traffic light left, 100 meter on your right side.

Skiingfreak....when you said water cooler, do you mean water dispense? If yes, you might want to consider getting one from the water company itself, considering if you have any faulty on the machine they can send their technician to repair it. It's about the same price as well.

AED 2000 for passport....that's a lot of money! I seriously do not think it will cost that much, unless you did it in such a short notice, but still! I agree with mushypeas, agency fee is expensive, that's why I not sure if I want to do it or not :(

One of my uncle (he works for Ind government) told me all the paperwork has to be done through an agent since Ind government do not send out domestic worker overseas individually. If you already have a candidate, perhaps you need to contact an agent just to sort out those paperwork, the cost should be cheaper considering they do not need to find someone for you. I am not sure what kind of medical they have to go through, but I am sure it will not cost you a fortune since the Ind currency is less value than dirhams, approximately 1 aed to Rp 2000 - 2500

I always take my boys to Fun City - IBN Batuta for hair cut, I know it's a bit further but just like the way they do it, strongly suggest to make an appointment cause they are always busy/fully booked. Nearby Rances, then Caractere - Mens in Motorcity does boys haircut, slightly expensive compare to Fun City in IBN Batuta.
