FairyDust I’m grateful for you educating us as to where our various types of meat comes from. I was referring to the very few instances of pasture raised veal that you mention (that does exist), precisely for this reason, it is difficult to find. Thank you

Need to find a new place to shop, as Waitrose and Spinneys are breaking the bank. Where do you shop for prawns and fish?

Thank you Silvatet. Can anyone tell me, does the Spinneys unsmoked gammon require soaking or preboiling before roasting?

After doing a search for gammon, I've found myself more confused than before. Have never purchased gammon here and wondering which shop you recommend? I'm hesitant because I've heard that some have ordered ham and on day of received the same type of ham from the prepared food deli they usually sell at the counter? I don't mind making it from scratch if it means I'll get a proper ham, actually prefer it raw so I can prepare it my way. Please suggest your tried and true gammon provider? Thank you

If anyone is interested, found turkeys at Secrets of Fine Food, they deliver, and Prime Gourmet in Town Center. No giant turkeys available, but that's usually how it goes with organic or free range.

The Organic Cafe on SZR often sells them. I call ahead to ask if they are in stock. They've even asked if I'd like to order. Their 20% off weekend just passed.

Ladies, would like to know any information you may have with Lapland. I have no idea even where to start. There is just so much to cover! Is one region better than another? Is every region as beautiful as they say? Is one week enough time there? What are the must-do's? Are we already late in the booking game for ice hotel? Only adults traveling so not really interested in the Santa Claus thing. Aiming for first or second week of December. Any information is appreciated thank you

Not sure exactly what I heard, but it was regarding a sort of cultural walk for Ramadan in Deira. The lady praised it very much for being an "informative and privileged" experience. More information was available via a number to text, but as I was driving, so couldn't follow instructions. I believe the dj's name was Sheena? Is anyone familiar with this event? She seemed to really enjoy it and it sounded like a very thorough explanation of Ramadan etc. I don't remember hearing the specific name of an organization related though. Any information would help, thank you.

An update about Bladerunner service. Very nice man in uniform took knives to their 'mobile sharpening station', otherwise known as their car, and sharpened there. Had my knives back in less than 30 minutes. (before was a 24 hour thing) Love it

Handheld sunglasses, like the ones Carrie wore in SATC2? According to my internet research Chanel makes them but I only want cheap knock offs. Seems a pretty impossible find thus far. Thanks! http://www.ioffer.com/w/1438352

Does anyone actually know someone who was actually stopped by police in Sharjah after buying from Barracuda? (wouldn't be concerned with bandits because unless there's an accident no one is required to pull over for civilians) There seems to be so many stories, but all heresay? Would such a place be allowed to operate if it were illegal for Dubai residents to transport alcohol? I've heard Sharjah is a dry emirate, but transporting through there is quite different than consuming there, is it not? It all seems confusing.

Need to buy a good brand of camembert cheese but know nothing about it. Heard there are different types? Will be used for two purposes, one for adding to a savory dish and another for a cheese board or bake. Should I buy two different brands? Any advice appreciated.

Ladies thank you for the helpful replies. Can you tell me what to expect to pay in cab fare, say from the bus station to the mosque, and from there to that souk etc? Just trying to get an idea of how much the day will cost. Is there a number I could call to get the bus details? About the walking, I was wondering if there is a place we could be dropped after the mosque to stroll around and eat or have a shisha. I've heard mention of "the corniche" many times, but is it a place worth stopping and is it peaceful there? I ask because I know construction is always a factor. Again, thanks for the help!

KCR, as much as I would like to, I don't live plastic free. Don't know how realistic it is for me personally in Dubai especially. I am also concerned about the water in plastic bottles. I try to buy in glass but it's not always available, and also, where to recycle the bottles? I have no idea where to do so.

If anyone is interested, saw some at Safest Way. When I asked where they're from, the only answer was "USA" I could have misunderstood, but I believe butcher said they're defrosted.
