Try dragon boating. My club offers some initial free sessions and so do other clubs. You can choose one based on the hours you are free as clubs train at different times. dubai sea dragons plus search dragon boating uae for the other clubs Dragon Boating sounds interesting! do they have a criteria to join?

Hi ladies, I'm in the process of toilet training my 2.4 year old DS. We started last week and he is doing brilliantly with number 1's but not so great with number 2's. He initially was doing number 2's in his pants but now he is holding off going at all! He is normally very regular and it's obvious he needed to go all day yesterday but he held it in all day and was clearly in discomfort telling me that his tummy and bottom are sore. This morning I gave him a suppository to clear the blockage and praised him for doing a "poo poo" (even though he did it in a pull up nappy". The day before he held onto it all day but then relieved himself in the bath (something he has NEVER done before). I know that this is quite a common problem with a lot of children but I was hoping that some of the mums out there who have been through the same thing might be able to give me some advise about how they combatted the problem. TIA Just give it time. Some kids get trained pretty quickly and some takes their time. My DD took her time. Each time she needed to poop she would ask for her diapers, but we would first try taking her to the pot and then if she still hesitated we would put on the diaper. But sooner she got comfortable with the idea of going to the toilet. But it took sometime to reach that stage. So don't stress out too much.

Now each time a new post appears I check up on Google if this is another survey scam (copy pasted from another forum). Well I think most of you are doing the same now. Just losing trust in the forum. I always looked up on expatwoman for genuine reviews and opinions, but now thanks to few posters everyone will think twice before spending time to give their opinion.

Moving into a new apartment sooner, so was just checking with the neighbour who stays in the floor below. We have taken similar sized apartment as theirs. Me: Do you have any idea what is the size of the apartment? Her: Its as big as mine. Me: I wanted to know the area. I have seen the place but forgot to ask the size of the apartment. Her: Exactly the same as mine, just checked with the security.

DH & I have been having a discussion at home. At his request, I am posting this... We own & live in a small flat in Dubai Marina. We plan to live in it for another 18m - 2 years & hopefully rent it out in the future. I would like to have the kitchen & bathroom redone. Nothing major needs doing; I'm thinking new kitchen cupboards, change of taps, new tiles on the floor & for the bathroom, a smaller tub so that toilet is not on top of the sink & new sink unit (it is a small place!). DH, an accountant.....does not think this is worthwhile as feels we will not recoup our costs. What do you think ladies?! Redoing bathrooms and kitchen is time consuming and expensive. I agree with Oopsiedaisy if you are planning to rent it out, not worth it. Because I don't think a renovated kitchen or bathroom can get you a better rent in the market.

Hi there, does anyone know if its possible to organize small kids party in public park? I have seen some around, but didnt find any info anywhere on internet whats the terms and conditions, price? do you have any experience? Thank you! Sharusha! we celebrated our DD birthday last year at zabeel park. We didnt take any prior approvals or permissions for this. We were luck enough to get a spot near the barbeque area right next to the gate. We had over 50 guests including adults. We did decorate the spot with balloons, streamers, etc. I have attended a few birthday celebrations of close friends, who didn't seek permission either. Well I am not sure if the rules have changed from last year.

Looking for someone to teach my mum to swim.... she is terrified but wants to learn... Bless. Any suggestions. Hi Forever21, I recently took swimming lessons at Bodylines in Rose Rayhaan on Sheikh Zayed Road. The instructors are fantastic, they have one to one classes. I was terrified too to begin with, but in ten classes I was able to do the breaststroke, basics of freestyle and backstroke and learnt to stay afloat at the deep end of the pool.

We're moving to Dubai from Doha in January. We started enquiring about schools and basically have been emailed by most to say they have waiting lists or won't know if any spaces are coming up till after the Christmas holidays. We did have an email from Safa School to say they have a place, applied and have been offered it (son is in Reception -FS2). We didn't expect it to happen so quickly as the school situation is dire here in Doha. We haven't even visited the school. Anyone have children at Safa? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Advice on areas to live so the commute isn't terrible also appreciated! Our current commute to school is 10km and varies from 25-60 mins. Hello NIrishjen! My DD goes to Safa School (FS2) and this her first year at this school. We are happy so far. We are both working parents and I love how up to date they are on the communicator. The class mum also keeps us up to date on the happenings at school. We had a one to one parent teacher meeting last week to inform us on the progress of the child in school. The school feels like one big family so far. The schools hours are slightly longer than the rest of the schools in Dubai. :( Anyway we have gotten used to the routine by now. But overall very happy with the school. The closest communities are Business bay, Al Wasl square, Al safa area, Al Khail gate.

He was sending applications through dubizzle, but it was no good. Is there anyone with useful advice? Do you know some good company where he can apply? Thanks! Hi Wild_cat, ask your friend to check on LinkedIn, indeed.ae. There is a lot of demand for Interior Designer with hospitality experience now. Good Luck!

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced furniture shop to equip an apartment from scratch? First priority are beds Thanks Hi Daisy111, I bought my bed and mattresses from The One, love the quality of the furniture. I have been using them for four years now. The mattresses are exceptional. Try to stay away from soft wood furniture as they give away easily at the joints/ junctions.

Hi ladies, I have a family wedding coming up in which I will be wearing high heels 3 days in a row, and as someone who spends 95% of her time in Birkenstocks, I am dreading the impending feet pain! I have flat feet and wide toes plus a minor difference in my leg lengths so wearing heels usually feels like torture for me. I will also be running after a hyper 2 year old so I would really like to be as comfortable as possible. I saw there are some Dr Scholls heel supports online, are those effective? Any advice appreciated, thanks! I wear heels to work most days and sometimes to sites for client meetings, surprisingly my most comfortable heels are from pull and bear. I find peep toe heels more comfortable and prefer leather or textile based heels (leather and textile can be stretched and shaped to fit, at the same time retain its shape and is breathable)

I just found this kickstarter campaign and ordered one for myself. It's crazy how much they have raised. . they were looking to raise $22,000 USD and so far have over $540,000!! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/denniscaco/the-undress-change-clothes-in-public-without-getti I think it will be perfect at the gym... The shower dressing area gets steamy so I hate the feeling of not being fully dry and having to get dressed. .. and the dressing rooms are not air conditioned so I always get sweaty. But I also think this is perfect for the beach. Its a absolutely brilliant idea for the gym, or even camping.

Best Regards Kalyani Dear Kalyani, You can find ceramic tiles in RAK ceramics (showrooms all over UAE) or you can do find many tile showrooms incl. RAK ceramics in Salahuddin street, deira. You might get a good deal if you bargain.

actually ladies... it's not too hard to believe... there are in fact numerous salons in the al nahda sharjah and even ghusais, deira, karama, bur dubai areas that offer similar packages for under 100dhs... they normally offer you any 4-5 items for that price... they are not particularly unhygienic or anything (they all have to pass the same municipality tests)... but of course their staff have only completed normal salon training from their home countries and would not have, for example, been trained by Essie experts for the manicures, etc... so naturally there will be a slight quality difference. there are many reasons why these salons can offer such competitive packages: - their rents are only around 40,000/- annually as opposed to those in, for example, the Jumeirah area or within a mall that need to pay 100s of 1000s for the same amount of space - the salons are normally small (one or two shutters) as opposed to a whole villa or 1200sq feet facility - they are usually only manned by three staff - one hair person, one nail person and one body person... which basically has a lot less overheads than having a 10-12 person team - often they use herbal brands or regular off the shelf polishes unlike supporting brands such as Tigi or Essie, etc. So... no I don't think the rates imply that their service is bad... I used to visit such salons prior to moving to Jumeirah and I often found those to be much better, more efficient (quicker) and nicer staff than I've had to deal with some of the more 'famous' chain salons & nail spas in this part of town! I agree with HorizonMum2 on this. They are not unhygienic or use sub standard products. Their overheads are less and the profit margin is less compared to the reputed salons.I still go to a salon in Bur Dubai to get my hair done, the senior hair stylist is amazing; the haircut, wash and blow-dry costs me only 80dhs. I prefer it over some of the reputed salons where I have paid a fortune and they have completely destroyed my hair.

I do most of my planning, cooking and prepping on Saturday. I make curries, store in individual container (portion size, just enough for day) and freeze them. I make tomato sauce for pasta in large quantities and freeze them. I prepare vegetable patties, breaded chicken and meatballs, on a weekend, and freeze them in bags. (They are exactly like the frozen stuff you get in the supermarket and much better as you know what goes in it). And all the cooking required for the day I finish it early in the morning. I get home past seven and have early dinner. Cooking in the morning, gives me time to relax in the evening and spend time with my child.

I have been working out since august for 3 times a week with a personal trainer and the rest of the days I do exercises for the core. I was never overweight, I looked fine. But I didn't feel healthy or fit, I wasn't eating right. I have lost 2 kilos, I have lost inches and look much fitter, feel more stronger. When you start seeing the difference, it just motivates you even more. My diet is falling in place since I started working out. @Silvstet, I agree with what you said and those are the exact reasons why I feel the need to exercise.

This might sound a bit strange but two products that helped me with my hormonal acne were oatmeal cleanser and rosewater. I grind the oatmeal into this fine powder and use it every morning and night as a cleanser. I transferred pure rosewater into a little spray bottle and spray my face every 30 mins or whenever my face feel dry. I have been doing this for almost a month and even though I am not 100% free of acne, this has helped tremendously...I would say 70% of my acne is gone :D The oatmeal cleanser sounds good. I have been suffering from hormonal acne for close to six months now. I tried everything from changing my diet, exercising, keeping my stress levels under control. Then i read this and I tried it. It worked like a miracle. I am also taking zinc for acne and milk thistle tabs. I apply turmeric and yoghurt everyday as a topical treatment. I don't have a clear skin yet but cutting out dairy has made a whole lot of difference.

Hi there, This may seem like a stupid question but here goes. I go back to work in January (which should be a whole other post) and ODD will go to nursery starting in May. We have a nanny currently for her and our 7 month old. DH and I figure we can drop ODD at nursery on our way out, but how to get her home? It is very close, but too far to walk. It is Kidville, so no busses. (The idea of a 3 yo on a bus terrifies me anyway). As far as I can tell, nanny and YDD will have to go fetch her in a taxi. Does this seem weird? Any thoughts greatly appreciated! I have been hunting for a nursery for my 3 yr old DD in Al Safa/Jumeriah. We couldn't nail down on any one since either they are too expensive or they do not provide transportation. My office is weird about keeping the timing at work, so don't know how i will be able to drop DD off at least one way to save cost on the fees :(. Sorry i don't think this answer your question.

A friend of ours who has left Dubai wants us to get him Ajwa dates. He said that there's a place in Sharjah to get them but I do not want to drive to Sharjah. When I looked up Ajwa dates, all the sites say that they are from Saudia and that they are Prophet Mohammed's PBUH favourite dates. For this reason alone, they should be widely available? I've only ever bought dates at Duty Free so I'm not sure what to look for. There's that nice big date store at Dubai Mall on the LG level. I think they should have them. Help! :) You should try Global village. A colleague recently got them from there.

I agree summer breeze - this will be the first time in years that I'lll be going out on NYE years, and the first time in Dubai. NYE is usually very overrated in my opinion and aside from the price inflations, even the best parties are too crowded and traffic is too insane for anything to be enjoyable. Veenz - Sandance has been suggested to me by a few people, but I wasnt really too keen as I dont particularly fancy any of the performers, and am a bit Sandanced-out after going to the previous two. Was envisioning something dressy, but not having been out in Dubai for NYE I'm not sure what the options are. Plain jane- then try one of the clubs like trilogy where you can dress up.. but again like you mentioned every place is goin to be too crowded :(

We have a 6-year old son, so want something child-friendly (but not over-run with kids) and fairly comfortable with a nice beach. Hi Sara.. Most people sell 2nd hand furniture via Dubizzle, you don't get much money for old stuff though! I had given Dubizzle a thought but dont think they would sell well because of the scratches. I have seen small furniture stores in karama and ghusais who would take such furnitures. Unfortunately dont have any contact numbers. Not looking to make a lot of money.

Im waiting for more restaurants to open up. I have a 2 yr old, dont know if they have a kids play area. I know the green space for kids, been there once with her but noticed all kids come with their nannies. Wondering if there is a mother-kids group. Im a working mother, and would like my daughter to spend some time with other kids.
