I think you can try to check classified websites since most of the people post stuff there
I'm sorry I don't understand...I thought you were looking to purchase and I was just letting you know I had posted a jigsaw for sale in Classifieds.

Resurrecting an old thread..I seem to be having the opposite problem-post not arriving that was sent from here (to UK mostly but in one case to Abu Dhabi). I thought the issue was the UK until the post never arrived in Abu Dhabi! Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone had any success with reporting/investigating this? SO infuriating. I always write my address info. on the back of the envelope but haven't had anything returned... :(

We have the same issue (cats...hot hobs) but have read that the hob covers get hot and discoloured easily. We are looking for something like this:https://www.google.ae/search?q=hob+covers&espv=2&biw=1250&bih=593&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=0ahUKEwiswaOA04HMAhUCaxQKHZGRAIUQsAQIGQ#imgrc=n7EP-Zvn_LP2HM%3A Does anyone know if it's possible to buy one separately or even to have one made. TIA. :)

I hope you guys read the article...the position this company is taking is so very carefully thought out. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/mar/02/uk-company-introduce-period-policy-female-staff It's not like they are taking a outdated, male chauvinist stance: "oh poor weaker *** can't handle monthlies, we should let them take a sicky and go get a pedi." Here are some actual quotes from the article: “For too long there’s been a taboo surrounding periods – I have women staff telling me they’re ashamed to admit they’re in pain. I want us to break down that shame and replace the negativity with positivity. Both men and women have been open to the ideas, especially from the younger generation." “It’s not just about taking time off if you feel unwell but about empowering people to be their optimum selves. If you work with your natural rhythms, your creativity and intelligence is more fulfilled. And that’s got to be good for business.” Doesn't sound groundbreaking or controversial at all...seems like common sense. ThirdCultureFamily you said everything i wanted to and more! Thank you. The one place I've been lucky enough to work at - one where staff were treated with respect and care, where there was flexibility and transparency, was the best job I've ever had in terms of atmosphere, sense of loyalty and productivity. The article makes very interesting reading. :rainbow:

For a year and a half I've been trying to get off Zara's SMS list. I'm in correspondence with their customer service rep. at Azadea but every time she assures me that the messages will stop, they just keep rolling in....!!!! I didn't sign up for them in the first place. Considering DH got fined 150 dhs for chewing gum on the bus (and I do appreciate clean public transport-I've seen some disgusting sights on trains and buses back home in the UK) yet there are drivers on mobile phones/applying make up and children without seatbelts in cars, I wish priorities would be sorted. Don't even get me started on the knives I saw lying around at Geant today!!! ;) End of rant...I'm turning into my mother....!!! :rainbow:

Visited the Green Community today and loved it. Anyone live there and can let me know how they find it. BUMP for this post ;) We're actually looking at Motor City too but will focus on the green Community this weekend. Our main concerns are traffic/transport and noise. Veganprincess, your welcome :) Al badrah may not be as noisy as Furjan, but there is construction noise 24x7. I believe only for x'mas there was a holiday and no work but every day they work round the clock with awfully loud noises and the sound proofing is rubbish. Made in Sheffield, you dodged a bullet here :) Agents in Al Badrah cannot be trusted as they are lying and overselling this place, when the reality is completely different. Sadly, we are at the mercy of the useless agents as most LL's are not interested in dealing with renters directly. Hopefully one day this will change, till then, all we can do is bang our head every time we have to deal with them  Noise has been more of an issue in terms of the residents than anything else-in the corridors and the shared areas, pool etc-children running round screaming, playing football etc. We were willing to overlook the construction site appearance (and reality)! But for a new build to be falling apart (broken W.C.'s, crumbling walls, no A/C for 10 weeks...sigh.... We really are at the mercy of the agents as you say Artzee. Then there's the LL's and in the case of Furjan, arguments over who is responsible for maintenance-contractors...sub contractors etc. We've been here 16 years and we're saddened it has come to this...

Thanks Made in Sheffield. Good to get 'the inside scoop'! We're running round like headless chickens-agents who don't answer your calls, misinformation and the prices are utterly ridiculous.

Sorry to be resurrecting an old thread. We're considering looking at this area-we're currently just up the road in Furjan but need to move by the first week of March. Can anyone tell us if there are buses/feeder buses available to the nearest metro? We don't drive so transport is an issue. TIA! :rainbow:

It's a pain in the b@!% when you have allergies! I'm always complaining to Carrefour + Geant about this. Then there are those products with no instructions/ingredients in English and I have to type everything into Google translate! I know, I know...first world problems... :rainbow: Geant's own brand, Casino, are terrible. I have to think back to my GCSE French from 20 odd years ago! Oh my! I've just bought some Casino boxed rice...you are right! I got home and there are no instructions in English! My GCSE French is 5 years older than yours! Although I can't blame memory/time because DH has retained so much! Confused Rainbow

Thanks for the replies guys! Having a bad day and DH is away at the moment. It just seems to be escalating. Believe me I've gone down there several times and spoken to them sternly (I'm a teacher and you can hear in a pin drop in my classrooms although to be fair I do teach at high school level). They hightail it and then 5 minutes later they're back again or you get a parent who threatens to call the police, screams in your face and tells you it's not your business to complain.....Sigh....I've been down 6 times today.... The lifeguard doesn't appear to be there all day and not just the times when he might be eating of visiting the bathroom. yes, there is a notice but notices tend to get ignored. Our friends don't want to come over because of the noise. Anyway, end of rant...tomorrow is a new day. Anyone else had to deal with these issues? Many moons ago we lived in Bur Dubai. It was a lovely building at first but over time the same problems occurred and management became lax. The building ended up run down-rubbish in the corridors, food in the pool etc. We were hoping not to repeat history.

Thanks skyfall :) Yes I'm at the Municipality stage I guess. The management are saying that the security tell the children but the children don't respect them and ignore their reprimands. The management have concluded that since the owners aren't bothered, why should they fuss. The owners say it's up to them if they want to trust their kids to be there unsupervised. There is a lifeguard most of the time but I guess he's keeping an eye on the pool not the surrounding areas where they are screaming/shouting/running/playing football/on bikes etc. Naturally my main concern is the safety element-I know it can just take seconds for something awful to happen... but I have to admit the noise is driving me crazy! Really appreciate your reply...have a blessed day! :rainbow:

Hi syd123, Yes, I may be everybody's least favourite dinner party guest! ;) I do eat rice...mostly brown although over time, even rice has taken a back seat to quinoa and millet. I also have corn pasta occasionally. Generally I keep it really simple...since most of my meals are anything from 60% upwards vegetables (except for breakfast which is usually a huge coconut smoothie with some greens or gluten free oat porridge) then the grains don't dominate so much. My husband is a pescetarian. Although he is not vegan, since I do pretty much all of the cooking, he eats the same as I do and adds fish or cheese when he wants. A typical day of food might include: -Fresh coconut smoothie with frozen banana (or mango, or berries), dates, some greens (whatever I have to hand), avocado, lemon, some flaxseed/chia/buckwheat bran and a sprinkle of Himalayan salt -Mid morning maybe some celery with peanut butter, some nuts,/seeds or crackers with hummus. If I'm on the move then I might have something like a Meridian cashew bar... -Lunch (my main meal) could be a huge salad with roast veggies, rajma and rice, something like the burrito bowl you linked or even quinoa sushi -Dinner..today it's pumpkin and apple soup with some gluten free crackers and edamame hummus. I do cook a lot and find some amazing ideas on the net. Recently started making gluten free and vegan pumpkin bread which is delicious: http://minimalistbaker.com/1-bowl-pumpkin-bread-v-gf/ :rainbow:

Hi Annie, I've been vegan for 10 years...it has gotten easier over time to find places to eat in Dubai and some great products. I'm wheat and gluten free too so I stick to tried and tested places... Camvic and Daza already made some great suggestions...I would add that the staff at The One Deli in Jumeirah have always been super accommodating. A few other places where I've found vegan food: -Bentoya (SZR) -Many Indian restaurants (but obviously check they don't cook with ghee)...several Chinese and Thai restaurants too (we love Lemongrass) -Curry Box/Noodle Box (delivery only) -The cafe at The Change Initiative (although I haven't tried it yet) -Several salad bar type places...there's one at BoxPark for example... -Lemonade (SZR) Hope this helps! Good luck on your journey ;)
