I love Dr Rasha at Moosa Medical Centre - Al wasl road. She always spends extra time talking to her patients, is thorough and very sweet.

Definitely look up Urban Energy Fitness! Their Pre/Post Natal workout sessions are fun, motivating and get results! You can bring your bub along and have fun with other mums! I also had an emergency C-Section and find the classes a great help in getting back into shape. Amy the trainer is great and is fully qualified and licensed. Well worth a try! I second Urban Energy - used Marie there who is great x

Legend Salon - Wasl Square. They have packages and good prices. Have been going for a few months. Pretty Lady is still quite good for a blow dry or nails

Paula Miller is an excellent LC too. I used her after experiencing the same issues. I also used to drink Fenugreek tea and felt it used to really help. Plus its natural although a bit stinky!

I travelled with my 3 year old last month and best thing I did was take a full sized pillow with me so he could nap. He slept for at least a couple of hours then made sure had some books, my IPad etc to keep him happy. Definitely take some food with you. Good luck

Mountain gate are the same people as Explorer and I am using them now. Have a great maid with them. You can call them on 043466350 ask for Mae. Cost is just as described by Plain-Jane below.

I believe the short term contract is AED 3500 per month. If you decide to go for a long term contract is 2700AED plus an office fee. However you don't have the hassle of visa's, medical etc and you can change the maid at anytime if you are not happy with her for any reason. They are also responsible for paying the maids salary. After what happened with my last maid and the amount of money I lost when she decided to do a runner - this solution at least provides peace of mind. The maid I have from them has been with me a week. She speaks English very well, really nice attitude and even my son has become attached to her very quickly. With the last maid it took him over 3 months!

If you need a maid asap maybe you can use an agency such as Mountain Gate who provide full time maids on their sponsorship? I am using right now and very happy with the maid - considering keeping her long term.

I am in the middle of completing my Masters degree with Heriot Watt in Dubai. I think they do offer a finance MBA too. I am enjoying the program so far and their lecturers etc are very good. Most are from the UK (as its a Scottish university) and we get the exact same material as our countparts in Scotland. My brother in law is completing his at Wollongong - he also had good things to say about them. They are located in Knowledge Village Good luck!

Why don't you check out a minicab service from the airport to your desitnation? They will give you an online quote and many times costs same as public transport.

That's great. However as per the rules shouldn't minimum salary be 4000AED in order to be able to bring a relative in? Her sister resides in Abu Dhabi - have just sent her a message to see if she can do it. Thanks!

I agree SweetSugar - think the guy had it wrong over the phone. I asked a friend who had a maid run away 2 years ago and she said I just need to report it asap so that I am not liable for her in any way. Plain Jane - she has been with us less than a year. Her visa still has several months left and she is on a 2 year contract. I just wish she had been honest about it all and I would have asked her to just hold on for a few weeks till I got another lady. Totally left me in a lurch! Thanks ladies

I will try to get her to send her passport but highly doubt she will cooperate. Her ticket was already paid by myself. Spoke to DNRD hotline and they said apparently I can only report her after 3 months!!! what if she decides to return during this time? Think I need to pay them a visit...

Thanks for your post kittycat. Yes totally feel betrayed. I explained today to my son that she isn't coming back and he took it well. I am very involved with the upbringing of my LO so yes he isn't too attached it seems. This was my first experience with a live in helper so I will put it down to experience. Most of my Arab friends are very strict with their help which I don't really agree with but think I won't be as lenient next time...

You could try [email protected], she specializes on the labour law & used to give seminars for professionals. Meena quoted me 2000 which I thought was a bit too much - plus she is freelance and I would like to have a firm who can be held liable for the advise they do give. Thanks for the rec though :)

Nail Spa usually does a good job - particularly Eldrina or Maria at the mercato branch. Their wax is more gentle on the skin and has a tea tree oil base I think

wouldn't worry too much presam. My DS barely spoke at 18 months and then after he turned 2 he suddenly completely changed and started repeating everything and speaking in sentences! My nephew is nearly 3 and has just now really started to speak properly :)

If she does up and leave you can report her absconded and get her banned. I would try to get rid of her - seems like she might cause you some problems. Start looking for someone else now, I would not trust her with your child either. Good luck!
