Hi Bonnie, might be too late to be helpful but I have a 15 yr old daughter who started at Sherborne mid Feb this year. We're also from Australia and previously lived in Houston, Texas, where my daughter was following the British curriculum at the international school there. The curriculum is similar to Aust standards and my daughter was 6mths behind this year as we returned to Perth last July, however she has caught up great and Sherborne has been really supportive and my daughter has felt no pressure so all good. We live in West Bay about 30mins away from the school but the kids don't mind the drive. Good luck with everything.:)
Hey MFJ, so sorry I haven't responded earlier, will make sure I check in daily. Both my husband and I are working for Maersk. Our sea container is yet to arrive so we're in temporary accommodation at the moment. We have two kids, 15yr old daughter and a 12yr old son and they have settled in great. We used to live in Houston so they're used to living as an expat. Big thing to do if you have kids is to start organising schools now, not alot of spaces at the good ones and some require testing. Our kids go to Sherborne and I've been really happy with the school so far, especially seeing as though my kids are 6mths behind due to the Australian school calendar being different. We're going to join a few clubs to meet some people but so far we're enjoying it and the change of life style. As I'm only 4 weeks new to Doha I'm still learning lots and my next learning step will be where to find vegemite!! haha Stay in touch and let me know if I can help out in anyways.
SJB15, good luck with the move.
Hi MFJ, we're from Perth and just moved here, in fact I just posted my first query. Good luck with your offer! I start my job on Sunday and still trying to get my head around a Friday/Saturday weekend. Take care.
Hi Everyone, we are 10 days old in Doha and to make our life happy, we need our two children to be happy!! We are from Perth in Western Australia, however we've just spent the last two years in Houston so we're all looking to try and settle in asap and it's not easy when hubby has already started work and I start next Sunday! ugh!!
I have a soon to be 15yr old daughter who will be commencing Year 10 at Sherborne in two weeks and a 12yr old son who will be at the same school in Year 7. Anyone out there with similar aged kids? We're in temporary accommodation at the moment but moving to Al Jazi Gardens end of Feb.
We also have a dog and I was wondering if anyone knows of an area that is good for dog walks.
I'm sure these are the first of my questions and I'd be grateful for any response and any advice on social clubs too.
