We went recently, got there at about 10:15am (opens at 10am) and got in to see Santa about 12:15pm. It was a long wait but they had many different arts and crafts tables and my children hardly noticed how long we were waiting. DH and I both thought it was well organized. Santa is amazing, probably the best one we've ever seen. Our DD was nearly in tears when she left because she was so happy, which made the wait absolutely worth it in our eyes. I guess it all depends on your expectations... I guess Santa was bored in the evening when we went looool, my son wanted to play with Santa's bell, then he didnt want to sit on Santa's lap, the pic wasn't even that good, but Santa was good lookkng ;)

We went on Thursday at 8 pm, there was no queue but it doesn't really worth it, it's too small. We only paid for my son, we were 3 adults with him & we went in for free, we took a family photo, the gift then we went out.

We live in a 400 sqm 4 bedrooms apartment, the bedroom is at the other end of the apartment, we have a basic Tomy monitor, my son is 4 yrs & we're still using it, we tried a video monitor but it didnt work. Our walls are thick & we have 3 separation doors always closed when my kid is in bed, never had issues with signal, our wireless internet connection doesnt work past the living rooms areas & the mobile phones signal is always weak, you cant even get a proper 4G connection at our place. We bought it from babyshop on sale (less than AED 200)

I stayed in hotels several times with my husband when we were newly wed, I was still on my dad's visa, we dont change our family name after marriage, they asked for IDs but they didnt ask for marriage cetificate. We used our driving licence at that time, I still use my licence sometimes as an ID for hotels check ins, never had issues & there is nothing on my driving licence that link me to my husband.

We potty trained with pull ups, we didn't go with bare bum as it might cause confusion. It was stress free for both of us. We used to take him to the toilet every 1 hr, he was dry after 1 month with no accidents when we ditched the pull ups

Many thanks, how long did it take you to finish it? Did you pay the whole fees at once, or in installments? I scheduled a call but had to cancel it as the time wasn't convenient, their next course starts on 28 October. I will be calling them soon, but I needed some feedback from those who tried it :) If you don't mind, can I ask why you took the course? Do you use it for work? edited by wickedangel_78 on 06/09/2013

- 8-10 slices of bread (remove the sides) - bread crumbs (1/2 cup) - butter - modzerella cheese Blend the bread, mix with bread crumbs & soft butter (you should get something that looks like cheesecake base), spread it on a tefal round oven tray, spread modzerella over it Cream mix: 2 cups of milk 1/3 cup of samolina Orange blossom (2 tbsp) 1 Nestlé cream 2-3 tbsp of sugar Cold mix milk & samolina , then bring to boil while whisking, once it's boiling add all the remaining ingredients, add mix to the tray. Bake in the over for 20 mins on high. Leave it for 10 mins to settle, then flip it on a serving plate & add syrup.

My 3 yrs old son is obsessed with Thomas & friends. We have those small wooden trains (it cost us a Fortune) but 2 of the main characters (Emily & Toby) are still missing :( I visited all shops (Toys r us, Toystore, ELC, Hamley's) but with no success. Anyone knows where I can find more trains? Or if there is somewhere online that delivers? TIA

I think you can. Mine expired 2 years back, I transfered my visa, then I renewed my driving license 2 months back with no problems. As long as you had a license & a new visa, it should be fine I guess. My aunt went to Canada for 3 yrs, when she came back on new residency she was also able to renew her driving license with no problems & they didnt ask for her Canadian driving license. edited by wickedangel_78 on 04/08/2011

I went through an agency as I didn't want someone with ME experience. I interviewed few maid locally & some of them had lots of unreasonable expectations. She's been with us for 2 yrs. We sent her on a 1 month paid vacation last year & we'r renewing her contract for a 3rd year before she goes on vacation next month. She's not perfect byt she's the right person for the job. She joined us when I was pregnant. DS was also suffering from colic & reflux. We didn't expect her to take responsibilities of the baby but she offered to help & she took some responsibilities like watching him when I'm busy cooking, taking a nap or a shower. DS is 18 months & she's really good with him. She doesn't babysit but she will happily do if we want her to. xx

Ive been wondering about yoghurt too. DD is 22 weeks and so far has eaten everything offered with great delight (sweet potato, pear, porridge, cauliflower, carrot etc). Id like to try her on yoghurts but i thought cows milk & products under 1yr was a no-no? Or is that just in the case of replacing milk feeds with cows milk? Cow milk is fine in yoghurt, cereals & food at 6+ months. It's a no no as a drink before 12 months as it's difficult to digest & it doesnt have enough nutrients needed for their growth & development. I use natural local plain yoghurt for DS since he was 6 months & he loves it. To add flavour, sometimes I mix his yoghurt with 1/2 pot of organix or hipp organic fruit pots. Baby yoghurts are so over priced & there are only very few brands with no added sugar.

You dont really need the whole amount of water if you'r using bottled water. I used to heat 1 oz of water, add it to the feeding bottle, add all the amount of formula to it, then shake/stir & top up with water directly from the water bottle. If you'r preparing a 5 oz bottle for example you need to heat 1 oz of water, then add 5 scoops of formula to it to sterilize it, & then top up with 4 oz directly from the water bottle. It's easier if you prepare fresh feeds as it will be ready for feeding immediately xx

Arwa is the best for preparing baby food & bottles as it has the least amount of menerals esp sodium & cloride. I won't go for boiling tap water here as the water is not suitable for drinking as it's not fresh water.

Thank you lovely ladies - I am glad that you are all around to help and give advice. Started off DS on rice cereal with BM today :) Also, when can we progress to wheat/ oat cereal ? Is it true that rice cereal etc is just empty calories and we should progress to fruits and veggies as they are better? Lemondrops - if I have to make it with formula - how much formula powder should I add for say 1 tbsp of cereal? And should I use warm water or just cooled boiled water is fine ? There are several fruity porridge or baby rice with veggies in the market which are suitable from 4+. You cant introduce wheat before 6+ months as it has gluten. Oat & corn powder are fine at 4+ months. xx

Some brands have added milk so you only need to mix it with water. If it's without milk you need to add EBM or formula.

Do you pay taxes to live in this country? No. The G'ment pays for the infrastructure from the G'ment money, from national money. Who said so? Building & community owners pay an anual service charge to the government for their services, & those charges are included within the rent but it's not mentioned. Each community in Dubai paid for the new roads, metro, public comunity services & garbage removal within the community. Property owners have to pay an anual service & comunity charge & the amount is not fixed & it keeps changing. So yes we do pay taxes, nothing is free. There is also the community charge within the electricity bills in Dubai. In Sharjah we pay 2.5% of the anual rent to the municipality & those are also taxes.

Our maid wakes up at 8:00- 8:30 am, the house is usually done by 2:00 pm. She takes 1 hour rest, then she helps me in the kitchen. Lunch is at 4 pm & she's done eating & cleaning at 5 pm. She takes 2 hours rest, then we go out at 7:30 pm & most of the time she comes with us. I have a toddler & she spends 1 hr in a play area with him, then she has dinner with us if we'r dining outside & by 10 pm we'r back home. She helps me with putting DS to bed & sleeps at 11 pm. I send clothes for ironing to the laundry if we go out a lot during the week, but if we stay at home or if she doesnt go out with us she irons in the evening & it's usually 1-1.5 hrs once a week. She doesnt baby sit.

Now he goes "na, na. na nose / a a a apple, etc) If you dont like the class you can switch within the 1st 3 classes I think & if you miss a class later you can go for a makeup class (you have upto 3 makeup classes)& you choose any other class for the makeup. & they also hae a refund policy but I dont know the details. HTH xx They had free trial classes but for older kids age 2+ , you can give them a call & check if they have any before the next semester.

They have ready made ones but it's better if you have a design or a ready made abaya with you for them to copy & make the exact size.

I go to a taylor in Souq Al Bahar in Sharjah. I paid AED 250 for a lovely one (suitable for a party) with sheela & it's similar to one I saw at 1st Lady (AED 1200). For a simple one I paid AED 150. There are several taylors there & they have all types of materials like Salona, stretch, etc. He finishes it in 2-3 days. Where is this Sook al Bahar? It's close to banks street (behind it) Sharjah-Ajman road. It's the old souq in Sharjah. It's an open souq

Hi Leshell. Little Maestros is a music class. They start by introducing the kids, then they do some singing, dancing & moving around, then they give the kids toy instruments (shakers, rattles, etc) to join the band. Then they introduce a letter with some words, a story, a puppet show, then another song. At the end they blow some bubbles for the kids to follow. It's a nice class. We also went for a run, wiggle, paint & giggle trial class & it was fun but it's only for toddlers. Wee wiggle giggle is similar but for babies. It's basically a play time with toys suitable for babies then a music & singing time. It's less stimulating than little maestros when it comes to noise & using instruments. They only use the guitar while singing. xx

I'm born here :) There was no Jumairah beach hotel it was Chicago beach, & Sheikh Zayed road was soo far away. Al Ghurair Centre was the only mall in Dubai. There were no buildings in Buhairah in Sharjah apart from Al Hisawi buildings & another ugly building. Living there was a luxury. In 1978 a central AC was a luxury & my mum used to brag about her house as she had central AC & our house was always cold. Al Wehda street was high end shopping street & was the best place for shopping We used to go to Al Ain for fresh milk from Al Ain milk factory & Lacnor was the only milk available in 1978. Al Ain strawberry milk was a treat :) There was no canned pepsi & Coke didnt exist here. We used to go to Pepsi factory to exchange empty bottles I heard about New Dubai when I went to work for a govt company in 2003. Dubailand was only sand & a project on paper, JLT was a construction site & I never thought they were going to finish the project. When I visited JBR the 1st time for a project there were no streets & Sheraton hotel was in the middle of the constructions.
