Our school sent the letter to PY1 students only as they are due for their boosters, but they requested an up to date vaccines record from all students.

I thought the extra is only measles?? We received a letter for the routine MMR booster for PY1 , I'm sure it's only for Y1 students and it is optional. As we follow the MOH vaccine schedule we will go for it, we usually vaccinate in a private clinic and we pay for the vaccine , it is costly as we have the option to have it for free we will go for it.

I don't want to sound offensive, but in this case I'd see the coordinator. My friend's son was in a similar situation, and later he was advised to see an external occupational therapist and was diagnosed with ADHD. It's not about expectations but if he is distructive in class or hitting none stop for example those behaviours are usually flagged. I'd want to know about my son's behaviour in class. My son was stubborn in class in FS1 and he was highly sensitive, we worked with school on a plan to overcome his sensitivity. He was bullied in FS2 last year and again I was called by the head of department and the parents of the bullies were called separately. I'd prefer to be called by school to discuss their concerns rather than being kept in the dark side without knowing what's going on. As for food, they can't really do much, my son didn't touch his food in FS1 or FS2, now he is asking to take a packed lunch, and he's eating all his food, he is in PY1. Some children don't cope well with change, mine didn't, it took him a whole semester in FS1 to start and talk with his teacher, and in FS2 he didn't start to play along with other children until the last semester. Now in PY1 he is doing great, I'd work with the school, it's still too early to build a negative attitude towards the school. Go to the meeting and decide based on that. Good luck

Is she underweight? I'm a health coach with an extremely picky 5 years old. He will not try anything new. His diet is limited to 7 cooked meals in addition to plain pizza, chicken nuggets (I don't offer him those, unless he is around friends eating them) and yoghurts (with no fruit pieces, it should be smooth) He doesn't eat any types of fruits or raw veggies, he doesn't drink milk or juices. he doesn't eat eggs, pastas or sandwiches, he doesn't even eat chocolates, cereals or candies I researched and looked a lot, for my son it is sensory, he only eats stews (with veggies and meat) in tomato sauce served with rice. If a spice he didn't taste before is added to any of his food, he will not eat it. He is picky to an extend of noticing the type of rice he's offered, any small change in his food and it turns into a disaster. He also starves himself, he will not eat even if he's hungry if he is not offered something he's familiar with. He spent 2 school years without touching any food at school even if it's a packed lunch with food he eats at home. But this year he is trying with the limited variety we can send with him to school. We tried school lunches the 1st year, then packed lunch the next year but it didn't work. I make sure he gets enough nutrition by offering him smoothies which are loaded with superfoods, seeds, nuts etc. I also add greens and superfood kids powder to it. I offer his a smoothie twice or 3 times a week. He gets his calcium from plain natural yoghurt. He is very active, he eats well and he rarely gets sick. I tried to look for an occupational therapist who works with food issues but after checking with other mums on international forums regarding this issue and all confirmed that it is a waste of time & money if the issue is sensory But if your child is underweight, rarely eats and it is affecting her general health, you should seek the help of a children nutritionist

I thought the 3 years of timetables issued by the KHDA was supposed to be for all schools. They made a big thing of standardising it all.. We don't get anywhere near that amount of holidays.... Our school doesn't fall under the KHDA as it's in Ajman.

My son will turn 6 in November, at 6.30-7 pm he goes to the bedroom, reads a book, then by 7.30-8 pm he falls asleep. He wakes up at 6-6.30 am. This is school days routine lol, we don't have a bedtime during holidays, as long as he gets 10 hrs of sleep we're not bothered about bedtime

@ummsalah - I don't agree that all are not opportunists, unfortunately many are. I know a girl who went to Sweden as a refugee although she was born here, have a very good life, her family and inlaws own their business here in the UAE. She got a tourism visa to the States, landed in Sweden then pretended to be sick (she was pregnant), Another one flew to Germany leaving a baby who's only one month old, a two yrs old toddler and a 5 yrs old with their dad here, the dad is doing well financially and he has a business here. Both girls live in refugee camps which is not fair or ethical. So no not all are looking for "safe" county to live, there are many opportunists Another family was living here accumulating debt by living the Dubai lifestyle without income, then they went back to Syria, they live there in the safe zone in Damascus & they have place to live with good income. But the husband decided to immigrate and now he's in Greece waiting to go to Sweden. Many are just looking for a EU citizenship and free income, schools, etc even those who are not in need. If they are looking for a future for their children those with good income here can apply for normal immigration, my friend applied to Australia the legal way not as a refugee and their application was approved, she is planning to move from her after 2-3 yrs to Australia , her husband is an engineer and he is looking for a job there. They went there few months back to check the situation, cost of living, etc.

Just to add the policy says "driver & passengers" insurance, it doesn't say car owner. As a minor she cannot insure her own car easily but as she's not the owner of the car, she falls under the "driver" clause in any policy.

Get her a uae driver license, you don't need to insure her if she drives your car after obtaining a uae driving license. Your insurer will cover her automatically , but in case of an accident if she's at fault you will have to pay 10% of your car fixing cost in addition to the excess and that's it. All of us (me & my brothers) drove here as minors, one of my brothers is only 21, he's been driving for 3 yrs now, he had his share of minor accidents. All the cars he uses are registered under my name, one is insured by AXA & 2 are with RSA , claims were straight forward. All those under 25 or those with a driving license less than 1 year have to pay the 10%. Just keep in mind that her driving license should be renewed yearly until she turns 21 then she gets a 10 yrs driving license.

I don't understand the fuss about that place, food is bad, you have to wait forever to get a table. I tried it once we were a big group and we tried most of the dishes, none was anything special. There are much better places with less waiting time and you can use the entertainer vouchers as s bonus ;)

You can give it a try My son is the same he is very picky he only eats certain home cooked meals. He eats well but he is very picky with textures and he will never try something new. He doesn't even eat sweets or chocolate. When he went to FS1 we didn't have the option to send food from home, his meals at school were never touched. Last year in FS2 they changed the policy and we were allowed to send food from home, but again he didn't touch it. I gave up and I started to give him a big breakfast at home then some snacks for the drive back home. But many children start to try new stuff when they see other children eating them. I'd give it a try and see how it goes

I'd look for a school that works on creativity and the way they introduce the curriculum rather than looking for a specific curriculum. I'd also look into the activities the school offers, like after school clubs and classes in addition to what they offer during school hours. Also the student wellbeing at the school is important and how they handle situations like social interactions, bullying, interaction with parents, parents involvements and so on. All those points are more important IMO than the curriculum itself.

1st you need to get you residency stamped on your passports (you & your husband) then you need to have a house lease contract with 2+ Bedrooms or a maid's room. Then you can apply for a visa for your maid under your sponsorship. If she's in Singapore it is not an issue, but if she flies back to Philippines it is not easy to get her to leave her country and come here even if she has a visa issued here.

You don't have 30 days grace period to cancel, you have 30 days Grace period after cancellation to either send her back home or find a new sponsor And no she can't get a visit visa, she doesn't get a visa from airport / exit , she will have to leave once her grace period ends

This is not acceptable in any culture. Cherpie, I'm so sorry for all what you are going through, but indicating that the "culture" is the reason in all your posts is offending to that culture & religion. There is abuse all around the World, not all mixed marriages end up with abuse. You are with the wrong man regardless of his culture. This might happen with a guy from your own culture. To answer your question, no this is not acceptable and it is abuse. Find a lawyer and get some help. This is not a healthy relationship and you have children who will suffer at the end.

Check your signed application form, if it says the nursery have the right to introduce new fees / change fees you don't have the right to complain. If it's not mentioned anywhere you can complain or insist on getting your registration fee As for schools, there is the school of creative science they have 2 branches one is British & the other one is American. But I'm not sure you can find any places for the coming academic year, schools will start after 2 weeks

Sound like classical teething symptoms to me and it's normal at that age, I'd feed him what he's eating, you can add more milk to his rice cereals to make sure he's getting enough nutrients and give him more BM. Weaning before the age of 1 is for fun and not really for nutrition, he will get enough from BM I wouldn't force a baby to eat, he might develop serious food aversions later. If you're worried check with his dr

You don't need a referral here, do you have insurance? If you have insurance check the list of service providers then choose the specialist you're looking for from it. You can book an apt directly through the clinic. You will only need a referral if you go to a government hospital / clinic

We have a Samsung, I prefer 2 doors, I hate freezers with drawers, we have 2 fridges, one with bottom freezer and the Samsung is 2 doors. If you go for one with a bottom freezer make sure it has a shelf in addition to the drawers. For me the 2 doors is more handy if you need to chill home made juices or place a tray to freeze things before placing them in plastic bags.

They don't usually ask for a marriage proof/ certificate in clinics unless she's pregnant. Choose a western dr and she can say she's divorced / was in a relationship abroad or whatever. If it's STD it's not covered by insurance most of the time, so it is better for her to pay cash anyway.

They don't have any at toys r us, I checked, I need more but they don't have stock and they will not get anytime soon. Which one? The one I went to had them. Yesterday. One set in a tubular shaped box next to the other wooden things and one in a square box next to the baby things. It is frustrating though, sometimes they do have discontinued things that don't restock. Further, I even saw wooden blocks at spinneys mercato. I checked in Sahara & Sharjah city centre , I even asked them if they have them in other branches & they told me they were out of stock! In which branch did you find them? I need to buy more for my son I can go to spinneys Mercato today and get some

What type of clothes are you looking for? Ralph Lauren has 36 also No I don't.
