Which bottles are you using? Did you increase the teat size? Where do you feed him? My son had reflux, he hated being carried while feeding, he also used to get distracted while feeding, we used to feed him in the bedroom with blinds down on a pillow on bed to elevate his upper body. I also scheduled his feeds, he used to get 5-6 oz (150-180 mls) every 4 hours and he used to sleep through for 10-12 he's without feeds in between from 12 weeks. He was on aptamil AR, we used Dr browns bottles with teat size 3 from 8 weeks. I also used to massage his tummy with warm olive oil twice a day. As for the rash, try mustela stelatopia , my son had face eczema , it is none medicated soothing lotion for babies prone to eczema. You can find it in all pharmacies. If he is adding weight there is nothing to worry about, my son went through many phases of refusing to drink his milk we even held on weaning until he was 7 months. If he doesn't seem in pain and he's not crying , if his poop is normal and he's having wet nappies and is sleeping well , there is nothing to worry about. But if he is not gaining weight, his poop smells weird , and he seems in pain take him back to the dr and insist on milk allergy/ intolerance test.

DS school is finishing on 18th June. Has been on the school calendar from last year. Everyone knows when Ramadan is so why didn't they adjust last year. It's not a surprise! Because the schools need to make sure they complete so many regulated calendar days and by bringing the summer holiday forward they would have to start back earlier or cut down other holiday times. Which are pretty short as it is. The US schools finish in summer before the UK schools but have a very different holiday schedule the rest of the year. Also someone would have to have thought about it! lol Schools started a week early this year, so it is common sense for schools to end earlier this year DS school also ends on June 18th. It's IB school school

Try to get him a good probiotic in addition to mustela stelatopia and stelatria My son had an awful allergic reaction to something (never figured out what it was), we went to 3 different dermatologists but none were able to help, after trying several prescription creams and ointments in addition to antihistamines, mustela was the only thing that helped in addition to probiotics to heal his gut Am sorry but how utterly irresponsile to give pseudomedical advise to a CHILD!!!!!! Mustela is a cream for babies suitable from birth for babies with skin prone to eczema it has soothing effect and not medicated, it is OTC all around the world , it is not a medicine, probiotics are found in yoghurts, and have guts healing properties that is the main cause of skin conditions. I am a health coach, this not a prescription and dermatologists/ Drs have no clue about the relationship between unbalanced gut flora and skin issues edited by wickedangel_78 on 19/02/2015

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Wickedangel 78, which shop? LadyBee, yes, it was Times Square! It's one of those shops that sell stationery and offer printing services. It is in Sharjah, I have no clue where you can find those shops in Dubai edited by wickedangel_78 on 17/02/2015

Years back there was a service charge of 10% in almost all restaurants, then it was cancelled and the menu prices were increased by 10% to include the service charge? Some restaurants like wafi gourmet charge much more if you dine in instead of taking your order to go. A glass of juice cost around 18 AED in a plastic cup takeaway but if you sit and order it you pay 28+ , the same with sweets and ice cream. I wouldn't even consider tipping in those shops even if I get a good service.

You are pathetic OP loooool Jealousy? Are you serious? A cat is a cat like it or not. Didn't you notice that we are all feeling sorry for your shallow thinking? Most of us can brag on what we have, but we decided not to ;) Last night my son didn't sleep well, I didn't get any sleep, tonight hubby prepared some snacks as I missed lunch, we were having fun in the kitchen, he overloaded my corn with butter and salt (not good for my size 8 looool) , all this made me more happy than when he got me the Chopard watch that is forgotten in the drawer. Tomorrow when I will go out with my friend for coffee we will be talking about our kids and those small things that make us happy! My advice, have a life!

My advise stay out of it, the sponsor have the right to cancel the visa and even put a ban for 6 months on her passport. You can't do much about it really. And you don't even know if her story is true or not. It is not uncommon for some maids to start looking for new employers once they reach here, of she wasn't receiving the salary she AGREED on when she joined her consulate will help and contact either the employer or the agency. Look for another maid, and save yourself the troubles you'll get in from all this

I never had issues with finding classes and groups for my son when he was younger in Dubai. But as I live in Sharjah the drive was a hassle but it wasn't really an issue as our time was flexible. But in Sharjah and Northern Emirates there are no groups or classes, other than nurseries there is nothing for children younger than 5 yrs old. Just a thought if you are open to looking for new markets edited by wickedangel_78 on 12/02/2015

Did you contact them before assuming their reaction to your complain? You dont have the right for agency repair, period. Speak to them, you have the right to get your car repaired, they might even agree on agency repair if their workshop fails to repair your car. I worked for insurance companies before and they are open to negotiation and complains. All what I can read from your posts is complaining about not being able to fix your car at the agency which is not your right when you signed your insurance policy, it is not the mistake of the insurer if you didnt know about the extended agency repair policies. The norm here is 2 yrs agency repair only, and not all insurance companies have premiums for agency repairs beyond the 2 yrs. Contact your insurer and let them help you with fixing your car

would presume that the liability would be yours - you always have the option not to go with teh garage that they recommend, trust your gut. [u'>Also - have you read the T&Cs of your insurance?[/u'> This. Did you contact the insurer before looking for a lawyer? Even with agencies and out if experience you will not always be 100% happy with their service. Take it back to the insurer and take the agency report with you and demand proper service. Eta: if you have a none agency insurance you don't have a legal right to ask or force your insurer to repair your car at the agency, if they failed to repair your car, you give it back to them to fix it. Agency repair comes with higher premium. edited by wickedangel_78 on 10/02/2015 edited by wickedangel_78 on 10/02/2015

It depends on your lifestyle , I can't live without one although I only have 1 child who's in school. My apt is huge and I always have visitors from abroad. I do school runs and I cook from scratch. With the dust here I can't imagine not vacuuming or dusting everyday. I honestly prefer to have quality time with my family and do some extra reading or attend classes or courses and go to the gym rather than cleaning the house ;)

Wickedangel, I have not been the the Blue Souq in a good while. Any chance there is a better quality one of the Amira. Can't wear a Shayla for the life of me - makes me crazy. There are the normal cotton ones and some shops sell Lycra ones. Before you buy them open it and try it on to get the ones with the right fit. some can be too tight and others are too loose. Quality is ok if you hand wash them, I avoid machine washing for all my head covers

The insurer told me to take it specifically to their approved garage. I was stupid enough to not query it but I mistakenly understood that they would not pay for agency repairs. I spoke to the agency and they tell me that if I get written approval from the insurer then I can pay the bill and claim the cash from the insurer. Sounds dubious to me. Has anyone else had experience of anything similar? edited by Driftwood on 08/02/2015 Unless it clearly states on your policy that you have agency coverage and you paid for the agency coverage you can't repair it at the agency then claim it from the insurer. My coverage is through AXA , my car is 3 yrs old but my coverage is agency repair (VIP insurance) edited by wickedangel_78 on 08/02/2015

Sorry to sort of hijack this thread, but does anyone know where I can find a better quality Amira hijab here -- I have given up even the cheap Amira hijabs are becoming scarce. I prefer the two piece ones -- not the ones with what I can the "duck" front piece which is stitched to the top of the one piece ones. Anyone? Blue souq/ central souq in Sharjah, you can find them in all hijab/ sheelas shops.

It's quiet now but I think this was the most violent storm I've seen in 10 years in the UAE. I'm in RAK and it seems we got the worst of it. Weather report says it will get bad again later. Kiddos school is off (Ajman Academy), as most teachers live in Al Hamrah and it seems that the police is not allowing cars to leave or something? Many parents are unhappy with the day off looool, well it saved us the drive from Sharjah to Ajman in this weather :D

So sorry for your loss, my baby stopped growing at 10 weeks, I went to Latifa for D&C , they advised me to wait for a week to see if things would start naturally, but it didn't as I had EMCS when I have birth to my son & I don't even dilate or get contractions Anyways, I wasn't given any reasons, things like this happens in 1st tri & the ratio is shockingly high (1:4) of pregnancies ends in a mc in 1st tri. I know how devastated you're feeling right now, I went through it , you can wait for a natural miscarriage but it might take time or you can go for a D&C & get done with it, mine was so straight forward I was in & out in 15 mins, the procedure is under general, I didn't have much bleeding afterwards Other than the feeling of emptiness & leaving the hospital without my baby, I was physically fine, I completed my own paper work & settled the payment , I stayed one night at the hospital but you don't really have to, mine was done at 5 pm so I had to stay for monitoring till next morning They will give you cytotec to help you dilate & this might start a natural mc, for me it didn't work I'm so sorry you have to go through this, big hugs xxx

I'm not sure which schools you are referring to, but the schools I visited, pre-school, primary & secondary are separated, each section have its own play grounds & facilities, so it's like 3 schools in one compound, other than finance & general admin & facilities staff, each section has its own department staff you can refer to. School timings are cosidered long here, my son is in FS2/KG2 , he stays at school until 2:40 with no extra activities, next year if we choose to send him to ECA he will not finish before 3:30- 4pm. I honestly wouldnt be happy if my son will have to stay at school until 5 pm to please working mums, it's your own responsibility to seek extra help like hiring a nanny or helper, it is not the responsibility of the education system or school As for school places, you can always plan in advance & go visit schools instead of building assumptions based on others experiences with schools edited by wickedangel_78 on 30/11/2014

Panadol night gives me headaches, antihistamines dont work for me looool, melatonin maybe?? It's not a sleeping pill, it's suppliment & it helps you to fall asleep without side effects later. Whatever you decide to take, try it for 1 or 2 nights before travelling & see how it goes, the last thing you need is to be drowsy on a long flight without being able to fall asleep.

Totally agree Lolacat. This school is useless and i am looking for alternatives. I really feel sorry for the 45K that we spend yearly in this place. Thanks also for your tips, we've been doing that for a couple of months now, but building her own is not working that well yet looool I agree that the school books are rubbish. We get 1 book every week and finish it in 1 night. At first i asked if we could change it as soon as we are done reading it, but teacher refused saying school policy is to give 1 book per week! At my son's age (FS2) children are not evaluated for reading band, but they did with mine as he is advanced & he is given reading books to read at home, he is also given extra magic words although other students are still working on the golden ones. He struggles with letters writing, so his teacher gives him extra handwriting to improve it, he is not very social & a bit quiet in class, his teachers always work on encouraging him to participate & join in. There is no perfect children, many children excel in certain subjects but the struggle with others, it is the teacher's job to make sure that the student is meeting the subject requirements by encouragement & giving the student extra attention when required. I honestly dont think there is something wrong with your child, I think her teacher is useless & clearly not ready to do any extras with your daughter edited by wickedangel_78 on 08/11/2014
