Do you think it's the magnesium or the evening primrose oil that are helping you sleep ? I had terrible restless legs, I would stay awake for hours fidgeting and then stay in bed really late in the morning because I was exhausted. Since taking the magnesium I have slept well and been refreshed on waking at a normal time.

Does anyone know how the prices compare at Global village to Dragonmart. I would really like to buy a large mosaic glass light. I was thinking about visiting Global village tomorrow with MIL. Thanks .

Have a look at homeaway website. http://www.homeaway.co.uk/p1051165 I looked to rent this house, and the owner was really helpful. There are a few others on the website. Another alternative is to look at hostels..there are some on the main island. Good luck

The drive through Colombo is the worse bit, usually bumper to bumper with lots of brake slamming ! Even if you take the new fast road, you still go through colombo. We went last year and my MIL is there now and we didn't get any vaccinations. I think it depends on where you are planning on going. We never took malaria tablets. Your more like to get Dengue fever than malaria. If you are concerned speak to your GP. Make sure you take lots of mozzie repellent with you. We always bought a spray insect killer to spray the room when we went out for dinner, so there was less chance of being bitten while in bed. edited by Wife of 777 on 20/02/2014

I saw them in DG Sharaf in Times Square. They are quite expensive here. I saw an article in a UK news paper which rated a cheap one from Argos the best. The trouble is they are quite heavy to carry in your baggage.

Yes some of the conditioners are concentrated so just read the directions, it's usually just a capful. Makes the laundry smell really nice too, even without a tumble dryer. I've lived here 8 years and never needed one !

They will love the elephants, it's a lovely ( long day out ) make sure you take lots of small notes with you for tips etc. there is a nice restaurant down by the river where the elephants go twice a day to play in the river. Negombo has some nice hotels although the sea can be rough, it will be easy to get to Pinawela although if I remember correctly its about an hour and a half drive. Negombo is only 20 mins from airport. There is now a fast road from colombo to the south, it reduces the travelling time in half. Our kids were just a bit bored sitting in the minibus for hours on end. We did visit some very out of the way places although I don't think it was always appreciated !

Elephant orphanage at Pinawela kithugala, is where they filmed the bridge over the river Kwai. You can do white water rafting here. We took are kids who were 10,8 & 7 at the time and they loved it . Royal river resort is high up in the tea plantations. It has 4 rooms and 2 of them are built over the rapids. They are now doing some fantastic deals in hotels on the east side, you can catch a flight on Tuesdays I think from CMB there, Uga bay hotel is offering 50% off. We didn't like Kandy much, as far as the kids were concerned it was just another hot sticky temple. Hikkaduwa , unawatuna , and Mirissa are nice beaches you can often see turtles bobbing around in the water. Wadduwa is ok if your kids are good swimmers, sometimes the sea is far too rough. We visited a hotel there, which at the time boasted the largest pool in SL, but is was full of old people being extremely quiet !! How old are your Children ? You could spend a day in colombo shopping. My kids now love all the designer jeans that you can buy there for £5 a pair.. To be honest it rains a lot there but it doesn't really stop you doing much because its always around 32degrees. Very jealous...have a fab time..

Who does he work for ? If its a large company, maybe you can call them and they will organise your tickets out of here. Have you tried calling the British Embassy here in Dubai ? I think they will tell you to go to the police, then you have to make a complaint at the courts. If you have any signs of physical abuse, the police will arrest him and ask questions later. edited by Wife of 777 on 05/02/2014

Thraproban is nice..... No pool , but right on the beach. Are you going with kids ? We stayed at the Royal river resort in kitugala, it's where they filmed the bridge over the river Kwai. You can do white water rafting. Have a look at the golanka website, it has guest houses as well as hotels.

Welcome to Dubai... You need to get an electric pump and large bottled water. We got our pump from DG sharaf. Ask your neighbours which water company delivers regularly in your area. The tap water won't kill you, it's just desalinated water.

I agree with Amelia, I have had an LG direct drive 7kg washing machine for 6 years. It's really efficient, spins the clothes well so a dryer is not needed. I've never had any problems with it.

Have a look at The Blue oceanic, it may have changed its name but I'm sure if you google it you will find it, it's in Negombo and right on the beach. The kids club is in an air conned building right by the pool.

You don't need to worry about tuck.... I make an on-line order with ASDA every 3 weeks or so. My kids love their tuck, and think of it as emergency supplies.

Every year I look through my cookery books and I choose ingredients from 3 or 4 different recipes. I don't like my cake dark , so I don't use dark sugar or treacle. I don't eat citrus fruit, so I leave out the mixed rind. I soak all the fruit and nuts in brown beer for 24 hours, I never add any other alcohol. I've been making it like this for years and my kids have always loved it.

Caras is a great place. I took a beautiful diamond bracelet there for repair, and I was invited to watch it being repaired in the workshop. MIL also had rings made bigger and smaller there, and again we watch them being worked on.

Everyone copes and manages pain in different ways... I have always been very open to ideas for pain control and had all of my kids pain relief free, underwater. I also have dental treatment with no aesthetic . But the ongoing pain of RA is completely different. Everyday is different. You have to get yourself prepared just to get out of bed ! Somehow it doesn't matter how well your mind can cope with the pain your body will have other ideas ! I have found a great US website , that has helped me just by reading and relating to others in the same boat. www.rawarrior.com.
