I had £30 to change into dirhams. £20 was UK Pounds and £10 was Scottish pounds. Well can you believe that the exchange rate is different.... Less dirhams for the Scottish note ......

I bought my son some lightweight hiking boots in Colombia MOE. The first time he wore them was for the Duke of Edinburgh expedition in the UK. He said he was the only one of the whole group who didn't have blisters and sore feet.

I know exactly how you feel..... Vacuums are really expensive here and pretty useless. I have just bought a Harriet Hoover in the UK, and bought it here... Brilliant, love it, may even Hoover everyday , or maybe not !!!!

I applied on line and I think it took only a couple of days. We only went for 3 days and I think the visa was $30. I printed out all the details but when we arrived in Sri Lanka is was already In the system with our passport details. Far easier to sort it out before you go , because the queues at the airport there an be very long.

Have you thought about going on a canal boat, no need to worry about where to sleep or hiring a car for 2 weeks ! You can moor up outside pubs for lunch and dinner. Hmmm heaven !!

If you look at the Dragonmart complex from Dubai direction , most of the tile shops are half way up on the left. There are lots of tile shops off of the main drag. Good luck.

Hi , i got some nice outdoor tiles from Dragonmart. They were 17dhs per meter. They have a huge selection of indoor and outdoor tiles, although most of the time you would need to collect from Sharjah or pay the 100dhs delivery.

My son is having orthodontic treatment with Dr Surajdeen opposite Karama fish market. So far i have paid 2500 dhs For 1 year. I was quoted 9000 dhs for the whole treatment over 3 years. Its a bit grubby looking on the outside but the surgery is spotlessly clean and the service is exactly the same as the other expensive practices except you dont get a nice cup of coffee while you are waiting !! Number is 043345955

Yes...it may have even been a bit more !! I have found a receipt but have no idea what it says other than green !!! The price was actually nearer to 3k...... Although i have to say the quality of the canvas is better than the Ace one, not sure if it will last any longer. The Ace one lasted 3 years.

I think the new covers were actually more expensive than the original gazebo and covers. The shop in Satwa had a selection of canvas fabrics. I took the old covers with me and they just copied them. It was by the ID place . I will try to hunt out the receipt for you.

You are supposed to have 6 months left on your passport when you arrive here. I would never take the chance with my children travelling back from boarding school in tye UK. My mother sent off for the passport renewals in the UK and it took 9 days !! She was initially told it would be 21 days. Not sure if it depends which uk post office you send it from ? Hope you manage to get it sorted.

Hi , now im not great with directions but if you take exit 55 off SZ road and follow the signs to karama. Keep right under next tunnel then stay on right side, it should lead you all the way there. You could also put Karama fish market in your sat nav, and basically that will take you to the shops.

I think the Polo club has an equestrian shop, maybe they can order it for you. Or you could just order it online. Have a look at rideaway, its all mail order. Not sure if they deliver here but im sure someone could bring it for you..... While your at it you could get goloshers, umbrella and wellngtons for the lovely Dubai weather !!!!

Hello, I see Dr Badsha too. I have just been diagnosed with RA in both knees . Because I am needle phobic I opted for the antibiotic course. So far its 70 % better, not so much swelling or pain , although I am now suffering from planta facitis. I am currently taking the low dose steroid as well as the antibiotic and occasionally an anti- inflamatory. Not sure how long i will have to take the meds for, and would love to find a natural solution. I have started taking curcumin and probiotics. Can anyone give me the names of some helpful alternative books, and where I can get them from please.
