Hi. I bought a Samsung S5 here in Dubai, not via Etisalat or Du. Is there anywhere I can check to see if it is locked or not. Thanks

Did both of my boys passports at the beginning of April. Took 18 days from leaving here to getting all 4 passports back. Good service at the moment.

Have you gone into the car showroom. Some dealers do have them in glass cabinets that you can purchase.

This is all very weird. We are getting the complete opposite with Etisalat. We pay for 20Mbps speed and when I do a speed test it is coming into the house at 46Mbps. I have checked and we are definitely only paying for 20. Maybe they are also tricking us They will eventually drop our speed back down to 20 and then they are hoping we will upgrade to 50.

Not sure whether you are interested, but I am selling one. It is an OSIM one and we have had it a couple of years but hardly been used. If interested email me your details on [email protected] and I can send you picture. Sponsor should take his & her passport to immigration, process the papers & cancel the visa, then she will be given 30 days grace period to leave, once she exits you can claim the deposit, it's straight forward they don't ask for anything other than the passports Just out of curiosity, once the visa has been cancelled and she starts the 30 days grace period, where does she live? I am assuming as soon as it is cancelled you are then no longer responsible for her or am I missing something? edited by wiggywig on 12/09/2014

thanks! - Why are many of the hotels still quite booked up if low season. Wiggywig -when you ahve been are alots of the trips noton - as mentioned below? We didn't do a lot of the trips but never had a problem with them. We also did the Phi Phi Island trip and have to agree the boat ride was quite bumpy, but my kids thought it was hilarious and just made a more exciting day for them. edited by wiggywig on 30/06/2014

We have been to Phuket many times over the last 10 years in July/August. It has rained most days but only for an hour or so (quite a nice break from the heat). Never been a problem. Maybe we have just been very lucky each time.

And children's passports can now not be done as same day service while in UK Sorry, just returned to this thread since there is another thread about passports and renewals. They will renew children's passports on the same day at Victoria office in london. Do the children need to be there or can the parents do it? Thanks

Not sure why they would want the passports that early. When my DS travelled this year with the school, they collected all passports at drop off at school the morning they travelled.

unless someone is leaving the country, there is only one reason why people are happy to let a maid transfer ......... I will be letting my maid go on a transfer at the end of her contract as I no longer need her as my children are all grown up now and she is becoming increasingly bored. Not always for bad reasons.

I know this is not much help to the OP (sorry), but what a shame about the negative comments about DGFC. I used them 14 years ago when they were near Rashid Hospital and could not fault them at all. Everybody knew our names and we had such a warm welcome every time we went there. As with most companies, the more popular demand gets, things slip. As a mother of IVF twins, I know the need and the importance of being treated like a person rather than a number or money machine. Good luck OP. edited by wiggywig on 11/05/2014

If it is a British birth certificate, then try this: https://www.gov.uk/order-copy-birth-death-marriage-certificate I had to do this a few years back and was very quick and easy. My boys were born in Dubai in 2000 and I lost the certificates. The UK had copies of them. HTH edited by wiggywig on 16/03/2014

Unfortunately once it has been delivered I don't think I have anyway of tracking it. Do they mail you to let you know it's on its way back or does the courier just turn up with it. Ok it makes me feel slightly better that there is someone else on here still waiting, I really hope it turns up this week. Do you know whether they have taken the amount off your credit card? There is also a telephone number you can call. It is 00 44 300 222 0000. HTH. The courier just turned up with mine. I didn't have any notifications from Liverpool. I sent mine via DHL so had a tracking number, which meant I knew that it had arrived at the Passport Office. edited by wiggywig on 22/02/2014

The new passport is sent by courier to your home address. You will receive the old passport about 2-3 days later the same way. Don't worry. I rang up the Passport Office to enquire where the old passport was. They said that they are sent separately as the new one is sent direct from the printers and the old is sent from the processing office. edited by wiggywig on 10/02/2014
