As far as I know you only have to have the minimum of dhs350,000 at the time of renewal each year. Our renewal is around March and then after that we never have that much in HSBC and it has never been a problem.

This is the site where the JC school was going to relocate it. If they keep to the same model that was being shown at JC, then it will be great, although expensive.

I know it is a bit of a trek for you, but I had an expensive lace dress that needed taken up. Someone recommended Stitches, The Village Mall, Beach Road. They did an amazing job and didn't charge the earth either. Good Luck.

Why not buy a photo frame which allows for 3 photos. You can take a photo of each of the twins and one of the pair of them together.

Did anyone else think the Full Monty was hilarious? (if you have seen the uncut original version) I don't know why, but I nearly peed laughing with the gnomes scene. No idea why that got me so bad! @ Sandy, oh yes! the photos were the best part!! I was watching it on an Emirates flight and snickering quietly, trying not to wake anyone up with my horse laugh Full Monty was one of mine, but the scene when they are standing in the queue at the Employment place, the song comes on the intercom and they all starting doing their dance routines, absolutely hilarious

:D How good was it, right? :) I made donuts this week, not as cakey, more pizza base texture though, but when iced a home run all round (I think... DD was like a ninja and somehow they all disappeared)! So fast, and much better than a huge oven coming on with all its energy and might for half an hour plus. Philips Air-Fryer... Everyone's a winner :D (always needs a tag;)) Would never have thought I could make a cake in it. Not sure what to try next. Any suggestions?

What's the difference between making it in the fryer vs the oven? Does it need less butter or is it faster? Or...? The cake cooked a lot quicker and I am assuming used less energy by using the fryer and not turning on the big oven (I hope).

Well I wish you all the luck in the world. They have a two week replacement policy. About 6 months ago I bought an expensive Hoover (the brand) and it started making funny noises within 3 weeks of purchase. I returned the Hoover back to the shop and asked for a replacement, their reply was 'no' as it was over the 2 week period. Didn't get anywhere and was repaired within the week. Good luck, you never know.

I got a couple of my dresses altered from this place (can't remember the name) in Al Barsha. It is in the building opposite Jashanmal in Al Barsha. It's in the same building with a cyber cafe and an Al Madina grocery on the ground floor. They did a very good job with my dresses and returned them within a day. Thanks Desi girl

Oh dear, I had hoped that there would be some relief for secondary applicants this year. Any reasons given? The secondary part of the school would just not be ready in time, so have delayed opening for another year. Good news for us parents already at JC as we were all concerned what would happen if the school was not ready and the disruption it would cause if they moved within a term.

AmyAus82, I am a big fan of Betty Crocker cake mix (as I can't bake to save my life). I will definitely try this. Will let you know. Thanks Using your square tray, you can use one mix to make two cakes (only fill the tray about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way. It's so easy and the non stick pan means it really simply comes out when you finish. You'll love your fryer even more (if possible! :)) :) :) :) :) :)

I cooked nuggets and smiley faces in it the other day and it only took 8 minutes rather than the 15 minutes normally in the oven. They came out much crispier. Not tried anything else yet.

Hi I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through, Gorobattie. It sounds awful. Unfortunately I can't advise you as I have zero exp of employing maids. But I'd like to thank you for posting this as yet another reminder *not* to enter that minefield. Super Reds is right - they're simply not worth it. Good luck x Looking around my spotless house, with an empty washing basket, empty ironing board and the possibility of going out any evening I choose at the drop of a hat and without having to think about baby sitting.....I have to disagree with you. Totally worth it. Yes, and you have to remember that we only hear the bad stories on EW. For every rogue maid, there are many, many more who are very good! Totally agree, my first maid was with me for 5 years and my current one 6 years. None of my friends you have maids have never had any problems. I think the rogue ones are definitely in the minority (I hope).

Chantal at Hairworks, Jumeirah for hair cuts. She listens, earnestly tries to understand what you want, offers lots of hair care and styling tips (depending on your lifestyle, e.g., if you have a baby at home, etc). She is supposed to be good with haircolouring too (I haven't had my hair coloured with her). Get my hair coloured with Chantal, can highly recommend her. edited by wiggywig on 19/11/2012

I have missed both meetings thru work ... can anyone enlighten on me as to where the new site is please ?? If you go over the bridge next to Times Square, keep travelling down that road past all the labour camps until you hit Al Khail Road. It is basically on that junction to the left on the other side of the road. Sorry don't know the name or number of the junction. Hope that makes sense. edited by wiggywig on 17/11/2012

I bought a wicker basket one from Tavola about 4 weeks ago. It contains, 4 plates, 4 glasses, 4 napkins, 4 knives and forks. Also half of the basket has a cool bag. Fantastic. I think the cost was about dhs500. They did have to order it for me so took about a week to come edited by wiggywig on 13/11/2012

I went to this chippy two weeks ago and my chips were brown too!!!! I did not complain because the fish was actually really tasty! I only went because I had the entertainer voucher. Have had better fish n chips though! I'm really surprised that the guy on the phone was so rude as the guy who served us, who I believe is also one of the owners, was really friendly. That's the thing, in the shop he was was nice and chatty, obviously he didn't like the criticism or maybe I was one of many complaints today. In a way I wish I hadn't complained either.

I Philips Air Fryed Weight Watchers thick cut chips today with Birds Eye fish, served with tartare sauce, homemade coleslaw and fresh juice (from my Philips Juicer lol), and it was beautiful, better than any restaurant, easy, cheaper, and as you said, it didn't insult me nor did it tell me never to eat them again :) I got excited when I read pie, fish and chips in the same restaurant, no longer excited, how rude, chips are so cheap, it would have cost them 3 AED to replace them, or 5 nice words to turn it around. What a shame. I wasn't even after a refund just a recognition that there was a problem, but an apology would have been nice and as you said "what a shame". Maybe it was a good thing really as I am definitely going to have to try these Air Fryers and shouldn't be eating fish and chips anyway lol edited by wiggywig on 09/11/2012
