One of the teachers at DD's nursery would take items and sell them at the Safa flea market (on her own time) and give the money to an orphanage in Africa that she is involved with. If you're interested in something like that I can give you a contact. That sounds just perfect. Can you give me her contact please. Thank you x

I was in MOE for the 12.30 showing of Rise of the Planet of the Apes. A European family came in 20 minutes after film had started and started to immediately talk and fiddle around in the row behind us. We told them to be quiet and was told to go and see another movie. It is not always the typical nationality. It can be anyone.

I have never used this Dr, but highly recommend Emirates Hospital for surgery. I have had a couple of planned surgeries and also one emergency one there. The staff and nurses are excellent in my opinion and they always remember you when you go back. Good luck

Good luck, Wiggywig, the actual experience is better than the advance worrying. And if there is, by some mischance, something wrong, at least you will have caught it well in time. And we'll be here to help you, please don't hesitate to ask if you need something. :) Appreciate that. Feeling alot more positive at the moment x

Are mammograms painful? Not really, just uncomfortable. I mean it's like squishing your boob in the door of a fridge! And let's face it, that's all part of an average day for your average Expat Woman.. LOL sorry. I was remembering this, which I found quite amusing: Many women are afraid of their first mammogram, but there is no need to worry. By taking a few minutes each day for the week preceding the exam and doing the following practice exercises, you will be totally prepared. And best of all, you can do these simple practice exercises right in the privacy of your own home. Exercise #1: Freeze two metal bookends overnight. Strip to the waist. Invite a stranger into the room. Press the bookends against one of your breasts. Smash the bookends together as hard as you can. Repeat with the other breast. Set an appointment with the stranger to meet next year and do it again. Exercise #2 Open your refrigerator door and insert one breast between the door and the main box. Have one of your strongest friends slam the door shut as hard as possible and lean on the door for good measure. Hold that position for five seconds. Do this again in case the last time wasn't effective enough. Then repeat with the other breast. Exercise #3 Visit your garage at 3 a.m. when the temperature of the concrete floor is just perfect. Take off all your warm clothes and lay comfortably on the floor with one breast wedged under the rear tire of the car. Ask a friend to slowly back the car up until the breast is sufficiently flattened and chilled. Turn over and repeat for the other breast. CONGRATULATIONS! Now you are properly prepared for your mammogram. So glad I have had mine done, would be absolutely petrified after this :)

Sorry to have to tell you this but it was painful, but only for about 5 seconds at a time. Good luck with yours :)

The reason why this happens is because the thread could be about dog groomers but within the thread it could have said "while on maternity leave I saw a dog". It searches for those exact words, so most of the time it is nothing to do with the original search

Hi Ladies, I realized I'm an idiot and didn't get guidelines from the hubby as to what, exactly he was after... In short, we are looking for 1: Manual 2: Powerful for its size 3: Aiming for 15-22k 4: Reasonably safe 5: Reliable & cheap to repair... hence likely japanese I don't mind if it's old, in fact I like older and well-used cars with plenty of character! I'm not worried if it's FWD or RWD. I've had an R31 Skyline, Volvo 850 T-5 (Mistake, An EB Falcon, and even a V6 camry on the track. Both have the benefits and downsides, I and enjoy both. Thanks for any new suggestions ladies. Sorry about that! E Have I got this right, your price range is between dhs15000 - dhs22000 or have I misread that (it is late after all) :)

Hi, I didnt have a breast up lift but i had implants in September last year at Dubai Cosmetic Surgery by Dr Ahmad Ghanem, and he was amazing, and so was the aftercare. It took months of researching and consultations to find the best place and they definitely were! I recommended them to a friend who then went to have a up lift done by him a few weeks after me and she was so happy with the results and the scars. Heres their website: http://www.dubaicosmeticsurgery.com Good luck with it all I had a reduction and lift with Dr Ahmed Ghanem also, again fabulous. He has moved now to Crescent Medical Centre. There recently was a thread about him which gave details of telephone.

BTW I think Nimeno must be a millionaire. I am thinking of asking her to come along when I take my grocery list to Spinneys. If she doesnt care about her money, maybe she can share her pennies with me! AND ME! :) If you live in Dubai and shop in Spinneys and you think you are not a millionaire you are mental and do not realise how lucky you are. Ok, if shops are getting the pennies I understand your point, bu who cares when you are paying AED50 for Spanish strawberries, seriourly, I do not understand your point at all! Thats the point, I don't shop in Spinneys and would certainly not pay dhs50 for strawberries and the supermarkets are getting the pennies

I hate too. Years ago I decided to make a point: at a supermarket I always got 1 chewing gum for 25 fils, so I kept them in my handbag until I had 4 gums and used them in the shop for 1 dhs. What a story, the cashier refused to accept these so we got the GM who had no option but accept and I think they got my point. I must admit customers thought I was mad. Brilliant :) I might try that

It does not bother me at all. I think there are much more important things. Actually I usually leave the change (AED5-10-20) to the "nicest"person is attending me.... I do not understand your post, even if as you say "over the years adds up quite a large amount" I am sure the guy in the florist shop need it more than me. I think you are missing the point. It is called stealing and it should be left up to the individual person whether they want to leave people a tip or not No, I think you are missing the point totally. It is not stealing at all! The salaries differences in this country are huge and there are a lot of people far from their childen and wives-husbands. Of course they are going to try to get even the samllest penny to send it back home. I earn too much money to be bothered about this, seriously, you must be kidding. Well very happy for you that you are earning alot of money. Unfortunately not all of us are and some of us need all the pennies too

Hilton resort and spa ras al khaimah has that in the kids club pool - it's fab. I think the Hilton Al Ain does too but check with them. Just come back from there. There is a small windy slide into a baby pool which is fenced off from all the main pools. My 10 years had fun for about half an hour. The hotel and pools were very nice though

I have a friend who went to Australia for 6 weeks with her IPhone. Didn't realise there was a problem and didn't get any messages from Etisalat, but when she returned she received a bill for dhs28,000. Etisalat refused at that time to reduce her bill and closed her phone and internet account down until she paid the outstanding amount (she did managed to get the bill down to dhs25,000). She hadn't realised that all here apps were on as nobody tells you anything when you buy these phones. Everything is now switched off and she is happily using her IPhone.

Caveat emptor.just the words she wanted to hear. Well it is isn't it? It's a lesson learnt, a hard one and sympathy and all that but who leaves a deposit of that size to complete strangers? Quite obviously there are people who do. Is it a case of trusting your 'own' people? You should never pass money over to anyone unless you can afford to lose it regardless of colour, religion or nationality. Dubai is full of dodgy brits! It is not just the Brits that are dodgy, every nationality have them
