Hi Sue62, there has been some improvement. With the help of therapyst we have worked out a plan and now it is a ''controlled separation'' phase. We agreed to work on our issues, not to date other people, see each other twice a week+weekly couples therapy session. DH gave me a list of requests, deal-breakers, so i know what i should focus on. After 2 weeks she(the therapyst) will review our progress and wether we are ready to move back together. She was also against his parents coming over right now, as we both have loads of issues to work on and shouldn`t be affected by other people. She is very supportive. DH read my previous thread. Therapyst is also an EW member, apparently. So i won`t be updating a lot...

I tried the coffee mornings three times when I first came to Dubai - it just wasn't my scene and found it really hard work to introduce myself to people. It didn't help that on 2 occassions when I tried to sit down I was told that the seats were being kept for the ladies' friends. However I did make friends through the EW events - the atmosphere seems different at them. The seat guardians should not exist in this kind of arrangement, seriously.

This is average in Bangkok and Phuket (Patong, Karon, Kata). Tuk-tuk in Phuket approx. 300TBH depending on the distance. Metro, sky trains and cabs in Bangkok are very cheap. Local beer 50 to 80TBH Mid-range bottle of wine 600 to 900TBH imported, local wine is cheaper but not very good. Large bottle of water 35TBH Smokes 70-80TBH Phad Thai 90-120TBH Salads, veggie stir-fries and vegg.curries 80-100TBH Whole grilled local fish 100-200TBH BBQ street food 20-30TBH Whole day trip on a private yacht 3000p.p. ($100) including snacks, lunch, snorkeling etc... Everything is dirt cheap if you compare it to Dubai, food especially! This are peak-season prices which is around Christmas-NYE time. ATM`s and exchanges are everywhere. <em>edited by Wild Mint on 23/02/2012</em>

Persian ladies... a quick question now that you're on the topic of your home country. When you travel back there and are obliged to cover, how do you normally dress? Scarf tied under the chin teamed with belted coat? Just being nosey ;-) Emily I`m not Iranian but have been out and about in Kish. Every woman i saw wore a scarf which covered her hair and knee-length coat in dark color with jeans or pants underneath. My friend from Teheran used to dress just like that whenever she travelled home. Btw, the same dress-code applies to everybody including visitors , even inside your hotel. <em>edited by Wild Mint on 14/02/2012</em>

Shabestan in Radisson Blu used to be excellent, but i haven`t been there in ages. I`m not Iranian and i don`t know the names but the rice was always the most memorable. In Shabestan you get a plate of 3-4 different types of rice, some are green with dill herb, orange with saffron, with berries...It`s fantastic! My Iranian friend used to bring her mom`s homefood from Iran, i loved the green meat stew with spinach (or something similar) and delicious sweets. In fact i prefer Iranian sweets to arabic wich are way too sweet to my taste.

Turkish Airline just won the best airline food - over Eithad and Emirates!! Got to be a fix! Love this Virgin complaint about the food, hilarious! http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/travelnews/4344890/Virgin-the-worlds-best-passenger-complaint-letter.html :) It IS hilarious! I also love this one ''Oh yeah? Try flying with Tajikistan Airlines. No female flight crew - only men. ****** boring if you're a man. And if you eat Tajikistan Airlines food, you'll think the worst airline food you've ever eaten before is a banquet. Everything was served in a cardboard box. Let's see. Two boiled eggs. One chocolate bar. Cucumber slices that were super glued together. One piece of salami made of Lord knows what. A large cube sugar that would not melt in lava. And the seats on the Soviet made Yakolev 40 did not recline at all, nor were there any overhead compartments. Carry on luggage was thrown in the back of the plane in one heap. There was also Persian carpet that was not stapled to the floor. There was no intercom, so we didn't know why we had gone to Khujand instead of Dushanbe - apparently there had been thunderstorms in Dushanbe. Passengers had to stand on the tarmac in Khujand for about four hours until the thunderstorms in Dushanbe lifted. '':)

I think all types of love are different Hansten, in my experience the ones that hit me like a bombshell were like a train coming off the tracks later down the line. The ones that grow with time tend to last. Look how many arranged marriages there are, and lots of people are happy in arranged marriages. I also think that sometimes when you're waiting for the bombshell you don't notice what's right in front of you. However, like some of the ladies said - it definitely depends on the kind of person you are. I would probably take a chance and throw caution to the wind; you never know how fulfilling it might be. I love this post, i wholeheartedly agree with it.

I wouldn`t want to lose a friend just to have a fling, but since you are talking about possible marriage i would definitely give it a shot. You DO have somethings in common, otherwise you wouldn`t be friends. Myself and DH are from different cultural backgrounds, he is very social, neurotic, choleric and a talking bird. Had he married someone just like him they will be living in a nuthouse. I am restraint, introverted, with OCD. We are perfect for each other!

I don't get it. Can someone please enlighten me on the attraction of Juicy Couture? So many people here seem to be into this label, but certainly not in my home country. Aren't they just tracksuits with sparkles? How are they better than any other tracksuit or lounge wear? Is it just the bling? I saw an overly plump lady wearing a bright pink suit a size too small with high high heels the other day. It looked seriously bad to the point of embarrassing. I wondered why she was such a slave to fashion when it actually detracted from her looks. Clearly the label is highly desirable to some. Serious question from the fashionably (or maybe athletically) challenged. It`s not just you. I also think that Juicy Couture pink velour tracksuits are a fashion abomination. Mostly being worn by overly plump ladies so they can look even more plump. It belongs to Karama anyway.

I am struggling at the moment with plumpness coming from absolutely nowhere! Or maybe I know where from :\: I am definitely having a lot of water retention and my b88bs are constantly in a state of pms heaviness and pain :-( All in all, miserable. Would anyone kindly tell me where I could find dandelion root, how I can use it and how exactly can it help? And what else can I take to relieve general bloating and water retention.Sorry for jumping on your thread op. Beebers, how are red yellow and green peppers on the glycemic value? Huge thanks!!!! Organic Foods&Cafe has dandelion and stinging nettle herbal teas. I just brew them in cafetiere in the same way i make green tea. They are good for detoxing and getting rid of excess water. It`s much safer than the pills and it doesn`t strip your body of potassium. Just google dandelion tea, there is a lot of information.

This is quite effective and was given to me some years ago by a personal trainer. Not sure how healthy it is though! CHEMICAL DIET 1 WEEK ONLY No Alcohol No Substitutes Monday Breakfast: 1 slice dry toast grilled tomatoes. Midday: Fresh fruit - any amount. This is the British Heart foundation one which apparently isnt condoned by them and is very high in salt ( again apparently haha) Evening: 2 hard boiled eggs, salad and grapefruit. Tuesday Breakfast: Grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs. Midday: Grilled/roast chicken, tomatoes. Evening: Grilled steak, tomatoes. Wednesday Breakfast: Grapefruit, 2 boiled eggs. Midday: 2 boiled eggs, tomatoes. Evening: 2 grilled lamb chops, celery, cucumber. Thursday Breakfast: 1 slice dry toast, 2 poached eggs. Midday: Fresh fruit any amount. Evening: 2 hard boiled eggs, salad and grapefruit. Friday Breakfast: 1 slice dry toast, 2 poached eggs. Midday: 2 poached eggs, tomatoes. Evening: fresh/tinned fish, salad. Saturday Breakfast: 1 glass grapefruit juice. Midday: Fresh fruit, any amount. Evening: Chicken, cabbage, carrots and grapefruit. Sunday Breakfast: 2 scrambled eggs, grilled tomatoes. Midday: 2 poached eggs, spinach. Evening: Grilled steak, tomatoes. Salad includes: Lettuce, cucumber, celery, tomatoes. Drinks allowed: (Any amounts allowed) Black coffee, tea, grapefruit juice, tonic, soda water. No one is going to lose as much weight as they can eating toast and fruits. Of course if someone is eating McDonald's and Chinese food 3x a day, yeah, they'll see an improvement by eating fruit lol--but it not the best quick fix. Long term, fine. Beebers is 100% right.

This is what works for me: You can easily achieve this by eating extremely low-carb (ex.is Atkins induction phase). No rice, bread, pastas (not even brown variety), no high-carb vegges like potatoes, beetroots and carrots. Instead you can eat all you want chicken, fish, eggs, low-carb veggies like cucumbers, cabbage, celery, leeks, radishes, green beans etc... Snack on cheese (babybels are easy to carry around), unsolted peanuts and almonds, pumpkin seeds. It`s very important to never-ever starve yourself, as it will slow down your metabolic rate and can also lead to nighttime binge. Cut down on salt as it makes your body retain water. Add some spice to your food (esp.cayenne). Drink green tea through the day (caffeine is a diuretic and green tea can aid in the fat loss) Also some strength training will help to keep the muscle mass so you don`t look ''flabby''. In the morning of the event drink some diuretic herbal teas (stinging nettle or dandelion), it will help your body to get rid of excess fluid and will make you appear slimmer instantly. You can take diuretic pill instead, works like magic. But do it in the morning while you are at home, because for the next 2 hours you will have pee very often. But please, take the pill only if you are healthy and on a rare occasion. Good luck:)

I had no clue about paneer.... " but...what is paneer???? :/: now I'm planning to go and buy it...:) it looks as a good fresh and tasty cheese Paneer is Indian pressed cottage cheese. Just like a fresh cottage cheese it has a very mild flavour and can be used both in desserts and savory dishes. I just eat it on it`s own. P.S. I`m not Indian, i just love paneer because it reminds me of home-made cheese we make back home. Western-style cottage cheese in so ridiculously expensive here! <em>edited by Wild Mint on 07/02/2012</em>

You do have to pay the fees and fines to the typing centre - that is the process. If you have a Dubai residency visa and you (or your husband if sponsored by him) work for a private company then the deadline is June 1st and you will not be fined now. However if your residency visa is Abu Dhabi the deadline is April 1st, Sharjah is February 1st and other emirates have passed already and the fines are racking up at 20 dhs per day. The deadline for those who work for government or semi government companies has also passed and those people will receive fines. The fines do seem to be applied consistently but I think that the confusion is around the type of companies that people work for because many don't seem to realise which companies are semi government. I have called the Emirates ID authority to check this with them and they have confirmed the above and have promised me that as I have a Dubai visa from a private company that my deadline has not yet arrived and therefore I will not be fined. However I will admit that I called twice to make sure I got the same answer from 2 different people!! edited by dibdab on 05/02/2012 My husband works for a private Belgian-owned company of 7employees. In the free zone. Yet he did get fined. So which category is that? Hmm that is a very good question! My friend works in a free zone and was fined and says that her company is classed as semi government - but I don't know if that is because it is a free zone? So maybe free zones are classed as semi government for some reason? Give the Emirates ID authority a call because if he has been fined and definitely doesn't belong to any of the overdue categories then they may be able to help - when I spoke to them they were adamant that it was impossible to receive a fine unless in the overdue categories. If so, it`s dishonest to classify free zone as ''semi-goverment''. Nope, if they want to fine you, they WILL fine you, calling them or arguing with them will be pointless. As someone said earlier on EW-''ID card fiasco''.

My old passport with the visa in it was stolen so I have a new passport and only a copy of the visa which is still valid, do you think it will be ok? I had a look at the Emirates Identity Authority website and it states Dubai residents will not get fined till after 1st June, 2012. http://www.eida.gov.ae/en/process-and-fees/registration-process.aspx If you are a Government or semi government employee then fines are being enforced from now, I believe Emirates employees fall under this category. [b'>Kerebler and Wild Mint do you or your husbands work for a Government organisation as I dont understand why fines are being enforced when it actually states on their official website Dubai residents have until the 1st of June. I started taking Vitamin C religiously a year ago (because my mum insisted I do so) and since then have never caught a cold or had the flu - even when I went to the UK in the winter. But wouldn't that be the same as drinking a glass of orange juice everyday? But that comes with 20grams of sugar as well. So for someone who is watching their sugar intake (like myself) fruit juices are not on the menu. What about the "no sugar added" juice? If juice is no good, would eating one grapefruit a day be equivalent to taking Vitamin C? It doesn`t have to be added, fruits have naturally occurring sugars-fructose. I agree with eating whole fruits though, as nature intended. At least you will be getting fiber too which lowers the GI and great for your digestive system. <em>edited by Wild Mint on 02/02/2012</em>
