Ok thank you! I have just been asked for 1500 dhs for a cat I have been fostering. I've had her since October and have become very attached. I can't pay the 1500 and feel very upset. In the time I have had her I have volunteered to help FF and not once been told to bring her to an adoption day. Don't understand why they are asking me for this amount of money. It`s too much! We payed 500dhs for vaccinated and neutered 7month old.

I used to take a lot of vit.in my early twenties, but i still have no clue wether it had any effect or not. I believe mainstream (unless prescribed by a doctor-high potency ones ) are as good as placebo. Now i stick with cod liver oil because i trust in omega-3 oils which are supposed to be good for literally everything and my reumatoid arthritis in particular. And a cheap Boots multivitamin a day. Whether i spent 500 or 50Dhs a month on supplements-Idon`t feel any diffenerent.

I Google photos. Lets say ''best hairstyles for square face shapes'', or ''hairstyles with bangs'' etc..,print out the ones i like the most and take it to the stylist. No need for a lenghty explanations and you will have plenty of time to make your choice. Since i started doing this, I have been 100% satisfied with the results.

Been to Chef's House very recently for the Seafood Night and we were quite disappointed. Never been to seafood night, but have been to asian night many times. Good value, good food, healthy options, sashimi, peking duck. Desserts, btw, are better than in Saffron.

i dont agree with 'maids shouldnt walk dogs' our helper chooses to walk out dog in the afternoons- she loves him and much as we do but is not expected to walk him at all... we spent 3 years walking him 2-3 times a day and love walking him.. Ok, well it's those people who have a dog and NEVER walk it as they expect the maid to do it. What's the point in actually owning a dog then? One of the joys is taking it out for nice long walks. Come to JBR walk Friday morning. Maids taking someone else`s kids out, as usual, even though the ''working couple'' isn`t working on Friday morning. What`s the point of having kids then?

i agree with the morality thing ,but do u think that in case one is put in a very critical situation ,lets say u are in a house with a lot of money and no one will catch u and not one will judge u .will or will u not steal the money ? i wouldnt just because i think that whats not mine is not mine and that i have to follow that but what about people in general > [b'>if u see a ring of diamond in the street what would u do ? [/b'> I will definitely try to find the owner, write to the local paper, dubizzle etc... Probably because a few months ago i lost my own wedding ring and i miss it badly;( Rings have a huge sentimental value and must always find their owners. I`m not sure though what will be my actions if it happens to be some other type of jewelry...

I can`t speak for Christians because i have never met those ones who were really practicing the religion, despite the fact that i was born and brought up in a christian country and family. But my DH`s family are muslims, quite religious too, and it seems to me that there are two main reasons 1) is the fear of God 2) fear of being judged by the community

We have been staying at Pacific Club Resort - Karon for the past 3 times. Love it every time. It has fantastic ratings on Trip Advisor (check them out) which it deserves. Kata and Karon are so similar and are very close to each other that it really doesn`t matter which one of them you will choose. Just find the hotel that will suit your tastes.

Right...thnk we have decided on Phuket. Looks perfect for the kids and for us. Now which beach??? We just came back from Karon beach, it`s our favorite place in Phuket. IMO Patong is too busy, loud, dirty, go-go clubs etc., the beach is always very busy. Great for a party crowd but not for the families. Kata beach is 5 min ride from Karon, a good option for families with kids too, it`s rather quite and has a nice beach and restaurants. Karon located between these too. So you can always take 10 min tuk-tuk ride to Patong or Kata.

Foods which considered ''exotic'' back home are A LOT cheaper here. Like all tropical fruits, thai friuts which I can buy in any supermarket are unavailable or very expensive back home. Generally speaking, Asian, Far-Eastern produce incl.spices are plentiful and really cheap here. Natural yoghurt is dirt cheap and all fast foods chains.

DH`s boss was jogging in the Gardens when a car stopped and 2 men tried to offer him italian suits which were in the car`s trunk. He said ''no'' to that and started to walk off but the car followed him and he was offered a business card ''in case you change your mind later''. He took the card and said he would report them to the police. Then they drove their car forward and blocked his way so he won`t run and demanded he returns the business card! :\: This is pretty scary IMO, i would completely panic if somebody did this to me!

Am I the only one who is astounded by the prices you ladies pay? 1000,- aed.... Pfft. I am not saying these hairdressers don't do a good job although we know that plenty of them don't, but it just seems like so much money. So much more expensive then backhome. For the full works I would tip 50aed at the most. Regardless of how much the total bill was. Feeling really cheap now ;) It`s a complete rip-off. But i can`t find here anything cheaper to do 2 colors highlights+ lowlights for a long hair. Out of maybe 20 times i had 1000DHS bill (sh*t that`s so much money) i was really happy with the results 3 or 4 times, the rest were just average. Waste of money, makes me really consider going short next time.

When ppl on here say they tip 15%, do they mean for a color/cut that costs around Dh900 -Dh1,000? Or are they talking about a Karama special at Dh40? I tip 50-70 DHS max, i believe it`s a very good tip regardless of the price. Just once i gave a stylist 150 (bill was 1000) but she was very sweet, pregnant, worked on my hair for 4 hours and did amazing job.

Beachcombers at JBH does a Thai/Malaysian buffett, vouchers are in the Entertainer Books, although it is only for food, drinks are an added extra! We were there last night and it was full especially the terrace! Buffet is 185pp incl.water,tea,coffee. If you use Entertainer vouchers it`s a bargain. It`s my new favorite spot in town, the view is absolutely the best! I think thursdays is BBQ night though.

Awful dire and not honest! I joined FF in MCC in May 2010, was told it would open June, then July, then August. It eventually opened in November and they didnt even advise me, I happened to turn up to ask for an update and they were already open. I planned to use the swimming pool, the main reason I joiend the platinum one (the Uptown Mirdif branch is smelly, dirty, old, has furniture falling apart, machines that are damaged and not maintained, dirty and ripped carpets and only men use the pool, plus there were only a few beds/chairs and most of them were broken and unuseable, so I didnt want to pay money for something so bad - and it wasnt cheap for the standard membership). To date, the swimming pool is still not open (last time I checked), and I cancelled my membership in May - my mandatiry 1 year membership. A :reduced" rate of AED450 per month and I didnt use the facilities once! I agree with every word above. They kept charging DH`s credit card two month after his membership was expired. Thieves! Talking to them over the phone was damaging to the brain, so DH had to waste the whole morning visiting their branch to resolve this. Not even a sorry. We have joined Hayya club instead, swimming pool, gym, normal people...a million times better. edited by Wild Mint on 24/11/2011

We made a mistake of going to Dubai mall on Thursday evening, nearly got crushed against the wall near the fountain`s entrance. I have never, ever seen anything like it in my entire life, people trying to run you over with baby strollers, eating everything in the vicinity aaaa! I couldn`t breathe! We got out as soon as we could and stayed out of the malls during the weekend. Metro stations-packed! Where did all the people came from?!?

I usually bring just a few things which i missed the most: Chocolates filled with whole cherries and liquor, 4-5kgs (at least!) as i adore them and it`s not available here! Proper salami, because i find Dubai`s salami inedible or extremely expensive or both. I bring the type which can be kept in the fridge or freezer for 2-3months. My childhood candy and chocs, i miss it terribly especially during the holidays, not available here... Local red wine:2 bottles, as it`s not available here. Books: as much as i can fit in to my luggage. Small wild flowers dried, pressed between the pages of a ''fat'' book - for my nostalgic moments, i`m old enough for that!

We did the cultural tour and lunch last week and it was fantastic. Arrived at 10.30 and finished around 3- can thoroughly recommend it. You could still go around the Bastiyaka on your own and see the same things, but obviously without a guide. I think most of the museums in the area are closed on fridays though. There is a nice cafe in one of the old buildings called xva, which would be lovely to take guests and then in the afternoon wander in to the old souk on that side of the creek and up to hindu temple and meena bazaar. Thank you for the info, it sounds lovely. It IS a very nice area to walk around, it`s my favorite:)

Hi Wildmint, I've done all the activities that SMCCU have to offer at various times and they are very worth doing. however, unless things have changed recently, they don't do activities at the weekends. Check out their website www.cultures.ae for more info. Thank you, Shamat, I have checked their website, but was hoping that maybe it`s different now and that they DO have activities on Weekends:( How unfair! How, in this case, can working residents of Dubai do the tour?!
