Quite disconcerting to be told by the receptionist at my regular beauty spa - 'you are too much fat now Madam. See you again soon'. Not with those kind of comments you won't! LOL It`s even funny sometimes, isn`t it? I guess in some cultures it`s considered normal to comment on people`s physical appearances...

Two more places for more arabic, traditional (not too traditional) atmosphere: Ewaan@The Palace Old town, i think it was 115pp, fancy surrounding, lovely food. Mistral@Ibn Batuta Gate Hotel is 120pp, is next on my list to try, i heard a lot about the food there in general.

I think one of the best and also the cheapest hotel`s breakfasts in your area is Mazina@Adress Hotel Marina, it`s 95pp and really, really good. It has been recommended by many people on EW. Waves @LeMeridien Mina Seyahi is lovely too, it`s 120pp. I absolutely adore the location! AOC French Rest.@Sofitel Hotel Marina is nice too, 110pp or something like that. There are many places where you can go! If you have Entertainer Fine Dining even better-there are vouchers for all this places.

That`s strange! I used to buy mine from nutrition centers where food supplements are sold, vitamins, etc. I even thought that melotonin wasn`t really a serious drug...Valerian herb capsules work well enough in my experience, they should be available everywhere.

We were neighboors, partied at the same clubs and went to the same gym but had never bumped into each other. Instead we met on Facebook. Exchanged long messages every day for 2 weeks, i was very sceptical but he finally convinced me to go on a date. I was panicking because i heard of some scary stories about internet dating and all that... I also didn`t believe that interracial relationships will ever work out and was at a stage of my life when i didn`t want another boyfriend, i wanted a husband... Anyway, we started to see each other every day, 8 months later went to Thailand and there on New Years Eve he gave me the ring:) Five months later we got married:)

i will be as frank as I can about what i think is going on ; Some Women of one or 2 nationalities think they are "prettier" than your run of the mill non Oriental woman because they are smaller in stature. The fact that some of them have flings with men of other countries may make them think they were pursued for their looks rather some other very obvious reasons. I will stress though that its some of them , and not most of them. As for comments, I noticed many south east asians dont consider it rude to talk about you in front of you to their fellow countrymen. So if they consider this as not rude, they probably think telling you in English is not rude either They don`t consider themselves prettier! We see women like that going home middle of the night in the company`s bus, often sharing single room between them, usually tiny paychecks, etc... I believe them being envious of other women who are so obviously a lot better off ... I would probably be! And it has nothing to do with them being fat or skinny or anything like that. I get stared at all the time, by the same 'oriental' shop attendants, even my husband tells me about it. I don`t know WHY they find me so amusing, i am just an agerage sized-average looking white woman. I used to have a tennis coach who would mock me or say that i run like chicken etc...I thought he was an as...until i heard him talking like that to other players too. He thought it`s normal and he was being funny, he`s from Phillipines, btw. Great guy i have to say, we played with him for 7 years.

Why not try hotel ballrooms? They are not that expensive. We had cocktail recept. for 30+ people a year ago or so in Shangri-la. It was 140dhs per person excl.booze, if i remember correctly, and they had different packages to choose from too. The decorations, flowers, etc, were really nice as was the 5 star service. I remember that we were looking at Fairmont and Crown Plaza too, the price was about the same in all of them...

My husband fasts most of the Ramadan, but even he himself isn`t following stricktly, so he doesn`t put any pressure on me to fast. This year i`m planning to try it out and fast for a day or two, see how it goes, i think breaking the fast together would be fun. Just wanted to add that in my 10 years in Dubai i NEVER ate in front of the muslim people during their fast, work colleague, husband, anybody, it`s sensible to be discreet whenever you will be eating.

Not over-the-top, simple compliment will be quickly forgotten. Like Dikane i am worried when he DOESN`T comment on exceptionally beautiful women which are rarity anyway and i notice them too:) Or even worse-sometimes he pretends not to be looking, that pisses me off because i think he`s being sneaky, and sneaky people will do far more serious stuff behind your back! He always compliments me on my looks, but if he says i`m a stunner-i know it isn`t true:) There will always be someone who`s more beautiful/younger, it`s pointless to keep worrying about that, it will only give you early wrinkles;) I love hunky men too, who doesn`t like eye candy?:)))

Jumeirah Lakes Towers can be very nice, new and inexpensive, but you will need a car. Discovery Gardens are lower standard in general with some areas almost in the desert...And some weird people roaming around at night... International City is the worst place to live in Dubai. If i was single, i would share a villa in Jumeira/Suqqeim as somebody said earlier. Nearby areas are OK, monthly rent won`t be an issue and it`s safer not to be living on your own god knows where...

Many times i almost got seduced by cobone and nabit vouchers, now thanks to this post i will never-ever buy from them! Never had any problems with Entertainer vouchers, love them:) But gave up TimeOut card after first two restaurants refused to accept it. After my complaint to time out they sent sorry e-mail and offered some gift hamper, which i never collected.

I drink dandelion or stinging nettle teas from Organic store, which are natural light diuretics. Works well before big events, 'want to fit in that dress' or post friday brunch feeling-fat syndrome. I never drink it for more than 2-3 consecutive days, diuretics can mess up your digestion and strip your body of important minerals like potassium.

Just go across the road to Gardens, there are 3-4 pools which i know of, pretty basic, guards never ask who you are or where you are coming from.

Hi, if you are willing to try something new, check Neal`s Yard store in Wafi (i believe they have more stores in Dubai) its all-herbal, all-organic, list of ingredients on each jar will tell you all. When you are there ask for samples, as many as you like, staff is generous and they have samples of ALL their products. I did whole round of samples twice, before i purchased 2 creams-wild rose balm +frankincense cream, those suited me the most ( i`m 32 ), but they have creams for all skin types. I could not afford to spend 200$ on creams anymore, most of those eventually were a dissappointing anyway, so i did my research to find this brand. When you go on your cream hunt, you have to try samples, there is no other way to find perfect skin care. And decent brands/stores should offer you samples and wouldn`t push you for immediate buy.
