Thanks for your replies. Yes, I also heard that the teachers were good at QCS. But compared to the other English speaking schools, QCS is way down at the bottom of the list. Part of this poor reputation is the constant turnover. Most Gulf schools have a fairly high rate of turnover, but QCS has had a huge turnover of teaching staff and management every year for the last four years. Facilities and equipment are important, if not enough support is available it restricts the effectiveness of even the best teachers. Even good teachers can only do so much with limited resources before they get burned out and move on. Quality education is part of the expat package and parents putting their children in QCS deserve the quality associated with the Canadian education system.

I also heard that they are expanding some of the class sizes and adding on more grades. The school is small and I am not sure where they are going to put a grade 10 class because most of the classrooms are already occupied. I understand that they do not have any accreditation in Canada, but are seeking. I have heard many stories about the school and not very good stories (true or not true?). edited by willow on 15/05/2011

Here is an ad that was sent to me from a friend. My friend also told me that the turn over is extremely high due to lack of funds and supplies etc. (teachers under paid and over worked). Just in case you have children at QCS you might want to revaluate. And possible more teachers might not be returning after the summer(?). I have heard some negative comments about the Qatar Canadian School and that the school is not recognized by the Qatar educational authorities or recognized in Canada. Can anyone who actually has children at the school let me know about their opinions and experiences at the school. I am particularly interested in the Kindergarten/ Early years program. My friend will be arriving in Sept. with her son. Please email me, if you do not want to reply on the thread. Thanks. [email protected] edited by willow on 12/04/2011
