Might be wrong, but I don't remember New Look being in Burjuman. There is one in Deira City Center though Yes you are right, my mistake :) I was thinking about Deira CC, looks like I am just too tired and sleepy :) Thanks dramaqn! edited by Jass on 16/05/2012 No-there was one at Burjuman too-but it closed quite a long time ago-it has been gone around 2 years if memory serves me right

Thanks for all your comments. So far I've had a look for machines in C4 and 2 craft shops. Am slowly realising that if I want to start quilting I need a half-decent machine as opposed to a cheapo! Problem is... they cost at least AED1500 and I'm not even sure I'm going to enjoy sewing so don't want to risk wasting my money. So... does anyone have a good quality machine that they are willing to sell for a reasonable price? TIA x Unless you are talking about machine quilting the finished quilt a basic machine is just fine for patchwork-bought mine from Carrefour-just make sure it comes with a quarter inch foot to make life easier-though you can always use a piece of masking tape n your machine if it doesn't-have been doing applique and patchwork quilts for over 30 years and you really don't need a machine with all the bells and whistles-nice though they may appear-as long as the tension and stitch lenght are easily adjustable you will be fine

Thats my friend's husband going on his Goodwill Journey:) He is doing it on behalf of PCRF.. He was supposed to leave in April but it seems getting all the visa's wasn't easy. 17 ??? omg - you wear thermals in bed ?? lol we never go below about 21 or 22 but usually 24 is comfortable - especially at night...our friends (also on the ranches) have theirs on 19 i think - like walking into a fridge lol sounds like there's something wrong - you should be able to have it much lower... McB - when OP says 2 units maybe she just means there are 2 grills on the wall ? I still sleep with my electric blanket on every night-and it wasn't easy to find one in Dubai-and that is with no air con on!

In 7 years have never had ours on at night-generally put it on for 5 mins after BH comes in from work hot from the taxi ride and that is it for the entire day-the apartment is double glazed,with thick walls, we are the middle floor of three and it stays amazingly cool-guess we are lucky

Taxis here are brilliant - easy and cheap !! Especially the "Red roof" - original Dubai Taxi Company And if you live in Bur Dubai no waiting time at all-can even walk out the door at 4am to catch a plane to the airport and one appears within minutes. Never had to book a taxi once.

I know this sounds obvious but is the maid actually usuing the exhaust fan while cooking? BH only turns ours on after he finishes cooking as he doesn't like the noise-so understandably it isn't effective-luckily he doesn't cook often!

I just hope my PT isnt on here....I have approval for a few vino's this weekend not for an all out sugar fest. Blue clinkers, you must be a serious clinker aficinado (?spelling). GM - luckily my scales arent working battery may have died, or been mysteriously removed by the sugar fairies. The blue ones weren't available long-they also had apricot ones! My son buys them for me whenever he has money left at the end of his pay-so he stockpiled heaps for me to bring back! I am sure my scales are no longer accurate either.........

I lurve the pink clinkers....Mum just sent me a care package and put in pineapple lumps (kiwi heritage) and minties....woohooo! I can have a sugar fest this weekend. Although I asked DH to hide the violet crumbles as I have no self will, I'm hoping he hid them at our neighbours otherwise I am sniffing out those suckers this weekend. I know-have to keep eating them till I get a pink Clinker! Remember the brief time they introduced blue Clinkers too-yumm. Oooh...Cheezle's....forgot about these yumm, will keep an eye out. Was the beetroot Golden Cirlce? Burger Rings....now they are good too. Yep=Golden Circle-forgot the burger rings though-better get the kids to send a care package soon. I do have Clinkers though!

I think it's around section GB or HB where there are quite a few wallpaper shops. They have a good selection too - some very modern stuff and quite reasonably priced. They also sell the paste you will need. You will be asked to pay by the [u'>square [/u'>metre so just go with your wall measurements in mind. This can be a little confusing - if you say for example you want 4 m of a particular roll, you won't get charged for 4 metres, you will be charged 4 metres x whatever the depth of the roll is, so if the roll is 2 metres wide, you will be charged for 8 metres of paper. I don't think I'd be wanting to drag rolls of paper home on the bus, so maybe plan a bus to get there then get a taxi home. But I'm not sure how readily available taxi's are out there as it's a fair way from the city. There is a sort of luggage rack at the front of the bus to put heavy things in-I bought 2 queen sized quilts last time I went-so it isn't that difficult to manage

I go by bus (the X23 I think)-goes express so hardly any stops-I get it from Bur Dubai where I live-it is cheap and fast. Last time I went you need to catch the 300 bus to link to the X23 of the way back and it does a circuit of international village-no idea why-but it still gets ou home quickly-double check the numbers though as I have been away 5 months and my brain is foggy!

We have 300 ............sadly I am in Australia so I can't share-pity about that! My son's friends company held an Easter egg hunt and they limited the eggs given to each child to four to stop pushy parents taking over-as a result they ended up with boxes of left-over eggs. Jealous now?:)

We'll have a very active toddler with us though... would we get her stroller onboard? No-wouldn't try it-but you could catch the water taxi from Baniyas (sp) which is further towards Deira City Centre to the Textile souq for 4 dhms per person-you still get to cross the Creek in safe enclosed comfort rather than clutching the sides of an abra.!

The textile souq is on the Bur Dubai side-the traders who deal in larger quatities are at one end-the others down the further end close to the abra station. Meena Bazaar just around the corner has wonderful Indian embroidered textiles and Satwa is good too-take her to Fida for a look-see

Sent my DS off on 2 visa runs with ladies I had only met through this forum-both were wonderful with him-I think over here people are more willing to help stangers and I certainly appreciated it as we have no car in Dubai Glad it worked out for your DS but what is the difference between finding random people on a public forum to some random on the street? Hardly random people-folk I had chatted to for months or even years via the forum-and spoken to prior to his setting off
