Yes 1pm but obviously at the ends of the line so if you live midway half an hour or so later to allow the train to reach you-hope that makes sense-oh and the first train is often very crowded-it can be better to go Gold Class for that one

Rents may be cheaper but food and DEWA have risen considerably. Ah-but a slice of chocolate cake from Spinney's has been 3 dhs for 6 years-that is my benchmark!!-will have to consider leaving when that changes-mind you the exchange rate is crummy for sending money home now.

The traffic is certainly better -especially since the Metro has been up and running-love it!-some malls are quieter-mostly the smaller ones but the new ones like Dubai Mall can be insane! Haven't been to a brunch in 6 years so can't help you there!

You need to reference it correctly to the website and the date the comments were posted-cutting and pasting without correct referencing is plagarism-and regardless you should ideally reword and reference not cut and paste

Aw thanks KellsBells. That's really kind of you. All is in hand at the moment. Will be leaving in 3 weeks time but will keep the house going for the time being. Rent is all paid and what I would get back after the early termination penalty is negligible. So will come back in a few months to sort everything out then. In the meantime, my cats, none of whom have been re-homed yet, will have a roof over their heads whilst I still keep looking and my lovely helper will look after the house and of course the cats!!! ;) EEK-none? Thought you only had 2 left-what happened? Come on ladies adopt Olly before I give in

As words of encouragement, I placed an ad on Dubizzle this afternoon to sell my Expedition. I looked at what others were asking for by taking into account year of model and mileage and then pitched my price slightly higher than what I was realistically hoping to sell for as I knew that I would be knocked down in the price. Anyway Ad was placed at 3.30 pm and my car was sold and de-registered by 5.30 pm and I was in possession of cash and might I add it was sold for 2,000 more than the asking price. Result!!!! ;) That's great news Moo Moo :)

Does anyone know if theres anywhere in Dubai mall that does them, i need to a few to take back for hols. There used to be in the gold souk-but sadly that is all being closed down and virtually no shops are left No way! I never liked it in there mind, always too dark, and once inside could never get out! Thanks. I know-they asked us to fill in a survey about why it wasn't a success-apparently the maze like design didn't help-plus there was no plumbing in the centre for rest rooms or cafes-sad all the same-it could have been good

Ask your BH to make it how they like it-my mob sometimes add mastic powder or cardamom for a different taste-I get out of it by telling my MIL she makes the best coffee I have ever had so would she mind making it as BH misses her coffee-(her coffee is actually not the best but she is happy and that is all that matters!) Oh and not sure where in the Middle East your family is from but in my husband's culture serving arabic coffee is a sign the visit is nearly over so don't serve it straight away! He never told me and in my typical Aussie way I asked visitors if they'd like a coffee as soon as they came and wondered why they looked so offended! edited by wuffles on 06/07/2011

Derien and Pentel.. Thanks for your replies. When I took my son to the A&E at the American Hospital they contemplated stitching the cut or gluing it. The doc decided that gluing it should do the job fine. So, they have glued it and plastered the top. They say it should heal in 4-5 days. I assume this should be fine for the cut? Would gluing leave more of a scar as opposed to stitching? TIA The glue should leave less of a scar than stitching-one of the reasons it is done

Had a silver tear drop shaped silver one done for my daughter at the kiosk upstairs in Mercato-also a silver heart shaped one with my husband and my name entwined-Boy Wonder is after a sword one!-bigger ones were 200 dhs-smaller ones around 120 from memory-what we liked was that the Arabic calligraphy on them was really well done.

Wuffles what were you looking for in Pottery Barn. Sometimes they bring out things that they said they had sold out of. I was looking for some placemats for my mum, they told me they had none, then funny enough the next week I went in and they had a basket full! I'm always up at Mirdiff so can keep an eye out. A quilt with a Hawaiian print on it-Dubai Mall had the pillow cases but not the quilt-thanks

Wuffles, I'm interested to hear that you have bought crepe at the shops on Al Fahidi St. I usually use Satwa for all my fabrics, but have really struggled to find a nice crepe (I'm needing a specific and not readily available colour). Is the selection good there? I'm going to be down at the Bastakiya for a course in a few weeks time - are these shops walkable from there? Fairycakeymum - I've had exactly the same experience of bargaining in Satwa. Some shops will just not budge on prices! The selection varies depending when you go down-I think being cheap there is a fair turnover so it is basically the luck of the draw-and yes it is walkable

Have him get a C PAP and your sleep will blissfully return. The ENT will say he is fine but he would need to go to a sleep clinic to determine that snoring like that is impairing his intake of oxygen. I second the sleep clinic. Sleep apnea is the major cause for snoring specially if you have short neck. I am using this for last 15 years. It has changed so much.Earlier it was manual settings and huge machines with awkward masks. Now with new soft materials for nasal, flexi pipes n plugs, miniaturized and auto settings with humidifier, there is no discomfort after at all. There is probably 1 day of feeling unnatural but first thing you notice in the morning is energy level. After one week one swears by it. My dad /brother /niece and about 10 more in the family use it. What people don't realize is that snoring is long term serious health risk. If you study sleep apnea on net, you will realize how much quality of life changes, after one uses this machine. At least, 60 people who had sleep apnea, are using cpap machines by me educating them about it. All appreciate that now very much. A good auto machine will cost you about 750-1000 usd on internet. Use uncle google. The only other thing, that I find little effective, is nostril strips, if you do not have sleep apnea. Do your DH a favor and force him to go to sleep clinic. I am so happy that some one advised me to go to sleep clinic & in my case it was a fellow passenger in a flight. I am not in anyway connected to clinics or machine suppliers but just a very happy user. I don't even know if there are sleep clinics in U.A.E. There is one at The American Hospital

How much should we be paying for material etc up in Satwa? just basic cottons ? also wadding how much do u pay per yard for that? Been up there with my dd and brought quite abit from scrap bins that cost 10 to 20 dhs each etc They wouldnt budge on prices..... Odd-about the pricing-I always bargain in Satwa-that is half the fun!

I just got married in December 2010. The best pressies I believe are 'go local'. Find a trendy shop in the same city where she lives that delivers. This way, it's hassle free. I guess-but I would rather like to give them something from here-and I doubt there is much near where they live-they are out in the sticks

Frenchy, I have had the worst night last night with my. DH snoring makes me not want to call him DH but something else, anyway we don't have a spare room at the mo as we have guests so I had to get in with the two DDs last night and it was awful, I always panic if we are going somewhere without a spare room as I don't hesitate to go into the spare bed, I am sure DH doesn't realise how bad it is and I am making it out to be worse than it is but it is awful and so loud and he would snore in any sleeping position, so no advise really other than to say you must get your sleep wherever you can and don't feel guilty,, your lucky if you can get him to go to the spare bed it is always me wondering around the house pillow under arm looking for somewhere to sleep in the middle of the night, I am so looking forward to three weeks in the UK with me and the children for some SLEEEP :) Ditto! And the older they get the louder it gets!

Hi ladies! Thiis is an interesting thread. I changed my mind about flying back for the summer when I saw the price of flights this year - AED17k for 2 adults + 2 kids to CDG on EK. I looked on a couple of other airlines but couldn't find anything much cheaper (other than with stopovers e.g. in Vienna). As I am pg I don't fancy a long journey. BUT... just check with Qatar and changing in DOha only costs AED9400! Wow. Whereabouts are you booking your flights? I tried online with EK, AF and Expedia. Something tells me I was looking in the wrong place! Emirates was slightly cheaper than Expedia-weird! Cheers, KB

I usually put it in a regular pot, and equal amount of boiling water, add butter to taste and it's never lumpy. But I guess it's not authentic! I do the same thing and always get great results. Never understood the need for a special pot - except for the fact that it looks nice! I use mine for steaming and such as well so it has more than one use
